Petra Von Diederich:
"Being able to turn into an animal, or take an animal like form is very common in my world. My entire family is composed of weretigers like myself. Of course, we live in an estate all to ourselves, so a humans are not common. Countries are run by whatever animal group is most prominent there, white tigers like my family and I have partial control of a few countries, and then full control of one larger country, while other animal groups are spread out in their own regions." She paused for a moment, shifting her wait and glancing at Selesia again.
"And I don't really think of myself as cursed, the way that your kind seems to be. I was born a weretiger, and my animal side is just another natural part of myself. It must be very hard to live the way you do."
Jon shook his head, an almost startled look in his eyes.
"Man, passing it onto kids... now there's a possibility I'm not eager to explore." He looked up, back to Petra.
"Back before I finally lost myself to it, I spent the better part of a year trying to fight against it, making life a living hell for myself. More than once I came far too close to hurting people I care about because of it, and it interfered with a couple of missions. One attack in particular, someone had to shove me through the retreat portal because I was still trying to find something to attack. I admit, I tend to have rage issues in combat, but the curse made it a thousand times worse. To be perfectly honest, if it weren't for the support of friends, and..."
Jonathan paused, and looked down for a moment. Reaching under his shirt, he pulled out a small, glowing vial tied around his neck - it had been hidden until now. He stared at it for a moment, his expression softening significantly.
"...and someone else very close to me, I'd have never lasted as long as I did." There was one more thing to say beyond that, but the fact of it was unbearable for him to admit to himself, much less anyone else; the fact that the Modas Il Toralar - the people he despised so much, the ones responsible for the torture he'd been through during his return to his people - had, by and large, been the ones to "save" him, though it had not been their intention.
