She raises a brow at his refusal. "I could show you a more definitive spell if you'd like?" She offers.

She smiles at the other of a room or a stable. "Its a kind offer but Svargaerth and I prefer to sleep under the stars."

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

His brow crinkles a bit.  He had spent way too many nights sleeping under the stars or in a burned out house.  He would choose a comfortable bed over a thorny bush any day of the week.  "Nah, I would avta be lernin a whole new sphere and I aint even sure I could learn dat.  Besides, I already be workin on a new sphere."  His face splits in a wide grin.

He looks at her again, looking down at her furred legs.  "Boneca (translation - pretty girl) I got a question for ya.  Ya look like a girl, but are ya one?  Do ya gots girl parts under der?  Cause I be feelin stupid callin ya a girl if ya don't be one.  I waz callin dat effeminate elf a girl for 2 days for I lernt he was a he."

The waitress comes back with the bowl of stew and a section of bread as well as a glass bottle sealed by a metal cap.

Jonathan let out a laugh at Cinder's last comment.  "Yeah, that reaction sounds about when it comes to... well, at least some elves back home."  He shook his head a little, still chuckling.  "I'm not hungry.  The dragon outside decided to share."  he added with a smirk.

He was part wolf, after all.

Breena laughs. "No, I'm very much female, Cinder. I know what you mean about elves, though. And their habit of choosing partners not based on gender can add to the confusion. But most fey creatures do the same so..." She trails off.

Cinder grins, showing his teeth.  He again glances down at her legs and gives a single nod of assurance.  "Kay den.  But it was da fact dat I met da elves input dat I found out he was a bicho. (translation - dude) It wasn't ard ta tell she waz a she."

He looks back up to meet first Breena's then Jonathan's eyes.  "Ifn ya don't mind me askin, how duz yur magic work.  Ya lern spells den can do dem?  Do ya only got so much juice ya can use?  Wat sets yur limits?"

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

"I can only learn certain spells. Nothing of a Divine nature, and mostly spells that incorporate music or magic. At the beginning of each day I decide what spells I can cast, and I can cast them. I can also cast one spell multiple times if I give up the ability to cast another spell I've chosen to cast. And then some spells I can cast as many times as I'd like because they don't require any spell components- just raw magic. I could make what you're eating taste like anything you wanted-for example, and I could do that all day long for anything." She replies.

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

The idea of any limit on magic is something he had heard before, but it wasn't his way.  "See, dat just no be makin sense ta me.  I kin do wat I do til I collapse.  Evry action burns calories, burns me fuel.  Da better I am at a sphere, and da easier somethin be, da fewer calories it burns.  Me body an spirit be fuelin me magic."

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

Jon nodded.  "Where I come from, it's sort of a mix of both, I think.  I'm no expert, but I know a little.  The way Gramps always explained it, the world around us is... saturated with magic energies.  The essence of magic, and when we use it, we're accessing that energy, and depending on how complex the spell is, that can range from about as difficult as swinging your arm around to incredibly tiring, and bigger spells needing more casters to maintain it is fairly common."

"The fuel for the spell doesn't come from our own body, but collecting the energy for it can be tiring in and of itself.  I stick to simple stuff myself, but if you're going for the complex spells, then there's the matter of making sure you're getting it just right, too."
After a moment, he adds, "At least I think that's how it goes.  I get a bit fuzzy on the theory of it all."

"Well...different spells are harder to do so I can only do a certain number of them. They are physically tiring and if I don't get around 8 hours of sleep I can't cast any spells at all. I need to be rested and my mind needs to be clear."

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

He knew about ley lines, and magic from the environment, but in his world it was usually so weak, you had to rely upon the magic you could contain within yourself.  As far as the limits that Breena was under, that just didn't make sense.  "Damn girl, dat just sounds weird."

He touches the soup with a finger and now that the heat is at a good level, he starts to eat it with some gusto.

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

The diminutive Kobold hops down the steps, one at a time, the height of each a bit too much for him to walk down in a normal fashion.  The indignity of it all is almost humorous, even to him.

As he enters the bar, he doesn't see anyone other than Cinder that he recognizes and moves over to the table.  "Good day to you Child of Fire."  He doesn't ask permission to join them, instead climbing up onto one of the empty chairs.

Cinder gives a crooked smile to the diminutive little guy, he makes the gesture to tip a hat that he doesn't have.  "Oye.  Didn't know ya waz stayin ere."  He makes a gesture to the others.  "Dis be Breena, an Jonathan, an I think she be avin some questions for ya."

He makes a gesture towards the kobold.  "Dis be Parker, dragon born."

Her ears perk up. "I've never actually seen a Kobald before! My name is Breena, as Cinder said. Happy to meet you." She leans forward towards Parker, examining his scales.

Parker smiles, showing dozens of very sharp teeth.  His scales are a golden / red hue and his red robe does much to bring out the gold color.  He wears several pendants of various value, from a plain wooden talisman on a leather thong to a one is apparently gold littered with rubies.  He stands on his chair and is still shorter than anyone else around the table.  He looks at Breena and extends his small hand.  "As the magi said, I am Parker, dragon born kobold, descendent of Brakhaven the Red and inheritor of his arcane might, Divine Champion of Bahamut.  I am pleased to meet you Forest Child."

"Ah, Bahamut. I'm glad you didn't say Tiamat. She's a bit too...mean for my tastes." She shakes his hand, careful not to knock him off balance.

"It's nice to meet you as well Parker. I'm glad to find someone who's at least from a world similar to my own."

Parker nods his head in agreement and shakes Breena's hand with his own small claw.  It is rumored that Kobolds are cold blooded creatures, but his hand is actually very warm. "Cinder said that you had some questions of me?  What has he been saying?"

"All he really told me is that you're a Kobold." She pauses, thinking for a moment. Her eyes light up as she decides on a question. "So...is it true that some members of your race can take down a Purple Wurm by themselves?" She studies Parker excitedly, waiting for an answer.

"Actually turn into a dragon, not just make yourself bigger? Is that a Polymorph spell, then? Or something that only your can do?" She asks Parker.

Re: Wolf's Head Tavern

Parker gives a slight shrug.  "No, polymorph is a limiting and restrictive magic.  I am capable of a true Shapechange, but this is different, t is a type of magic that I earned through my service to Bahamut, I am his exalted champion after all.  It is only right that I be able to take on such a form."

He takes the tankard of ale that is put in front of him, it is easily as big as his head.  He takes a long drink, holding the mug with both hands.

Cinder shakes his head again, this is all foreign to him.  He knew that there were beings that were worshiped as gods in some worlds, hell, they might actually even be gods for all he knew, but it was all just crazy talk to him.

Cinder shakes his head.  "It be different from any ya I done met ere.  I work wit spheres of control, and where dey be overlapin, I got great power.  Spheres like Fire, Manipulation, Flesh, Wind, Creation, Destruction.  I kin Manipulate Fire.  I kin Destroy Flesh.  I kin Create Wind."  That wasn't all of it, but it was enough of an explination.

He grins broadly.  "Me power is only limited by me knowledge and me reserves of strength."
