Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

He looks around at the Tavern and then out to the woods around it.  "Dis place got juice.  Baita power.  Da girl is part of dis place.  I think she is da forest.  I cud smell da power of dat one."

He waggles a finger at the satyr.  "Don't ya be goin and fraggin wit er.  Dat be a good way ta get your gostosa face en trouble."  His grin is either playful or mischievous.

Selesia moves silently behind Breena and nudged her shoulder. she would give slight growls. She would give the feeling that she would try the woman's magic.

Breena runs her hand along the scales of Selesia's neck, looking the dragon in the eye. "I'll prepare the spell in the morning and see what I can do." She says.

"I wouldn't want to 'mess' with anyone, Cinder. Maybe talk to her, though. I'd like to find out how this place was created. I think it might be a pocket dimension."

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

He had forgotten about the cigarette that was in his hand and it had burned almost all the way down.  He holds it up and the ember flames up, in an instant nothing but a very fine ash falls from his hand.

He concentrates and his language changes, it becomes almost completely comprehensible.  "This ain't just a pocket dimension.  It's a crossroads of all worlds.  It leads to all times and all places."

Jonathan nods, slightly intrigued by the sudden change in his manner of speech.  "Tell me about it.  I've found myself here twice now.  By my time, it's been a year and a half since the last time I was here, but here it seems like it's only been a few minutes."

Breena's eyes brightened. "Okay, but why is it here? Who made it- or what?"

She does notice Cinder's change of speech, but decides not to comment on it.

"Anyone, anything. Maybe itself. The purpose seems to be what it is on paper, a place to meet and rest and do things." Jesse comments with a laugh.

"Who knows, perhaps this is a mere simulacra and we do not exist. Or it is what it is. Depending how you think, you may drive yourself mad." The bloodied man waves and gestures.

He shakes his head but forces his language to remain in a mode they can more easily understand.  "I was ere when a creature came in, it was ancient and powerful.  It was an ancient and powerful creature from a hell.  It talked about dis place.  It was made for beings to meet.  A place of neutrality.  I don't know who made it, but they were very powerful.  Time here is linear, it always moves forward."

He looks at his empty mug, thinking about getting another.

"But who made it? Something like this is never talked about in my world. Of course, no one really knows everything about the tower of eternity...there could be other places like this one." She seems really excited about the concept. Being a creature of magic, anything like this usually riles her up. And coming to this place would make a good story to take home, especially if she could document who made the dimension, and for what purpose .

He shrugs slightly and his language is still slow and deliberate.  "Heaven and Hell and everyone else.  The one that was here before was a powerful agent of Hell.  He implied that he helped.  I tried talking to the bartender about the origin of this place, but he doesn't know."

He sees the bottle of whiskey that he left out here earlier, still untouched and picks it up, pouring almost half of it into his beer mug and taking a long drink.  "As to why, it was built so beings could meet here."

"Where did he go? The...hell-creature, that is?" She walks up to Cinder, her large eyes seeming to get larger in her excitement.

"Do you think he's still around? Could I talk to him?"

Cinder takes another long drink from the glass of whiskey.  He steps closer to the young Satyr, shaking his head and drawing himself up to his full height.  "Ya no be wantin ta do dat Ghatina.  Da hanged man was a billy bad ass and dat aint shiney.  I wudn't frag wit im and I don't be thinkin ya wud walk away from dat encounter."  He stares down at the young woman.

She looks a bit startled, but quickly recovers.

"Well...most creatures from hell are reasonable. But if you say he's too dangerous I'll take your word for it. It's not like I have no experience dealing with demons, though." She sighs, crossing her arms.

Jonathan nearly choked.  "Reasonable?!"  Jonathan stared at her as if she had tentacles growing out of her eyes or something before taking a deep breath to calm himself.  "Right, different worlds, I guess different demons, too.  I've got a bit of experience with them where I'm from, and the only way to deal with those ones is with a blade, or a very powerful spell, because you can be sure they'll try and do worse to you."

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

Cinder moves back and sits down, draining the mug of whiskey and setting it aside.  He looks at the wolf man and shakes his head.  "Der be some times ya should just sit back and let things go by.  Don't pick a fight ya no can win.  Dat be a good way ta get yurself geeked."

As he sits there, he pulls a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, knocking one of them free and putting it between his lips.  He pulls back the glove covering his hand which appears to be on fire.  It is a simple thing to bring his index finger up to the tip of the cigarette, and light it.

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

"Most demons, high ranking, intelligent demons, that is, are very reasonable. And they want nothing more than souls. Some of them aren't even evil, really. It's just the way that they are. If you run into one it's rather easy to just get it to leave you alone. They can only have souls that are given to them willingly, so they don't really care much for fighting. It's the weaker ones, the ones thrown together at random my the mealstorm, that you have to worry about.

She pauses for a few moments, looking at Jonathan earnestly before continuing. "I have more than a few friends who are descended from demons. Teiflings: beings created by the joining of a human and a fiend. Or, in contrast, Asamar, being created from the joining of a human and an Angel." She looks away, lost in though.

"But I'm sure you don't want a lecture of how the multiverse works. You'll have to excuse me, being a scholar and a story teller means that sometimes I rant." She turns back to Jonathan and smiles sheepishly.

She notices Cinder using fire and files it away in her brain to bring up later.

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

Cinder just starts to laugh.  "Ghatina, dis was not a demon from yur where and when.  I cud smell da malice on em, he was an evil evil bastard.  I be da magi, I done stood toe ta toe wit da biggest and baddest my world has, and I felt da fear from em."

A small shiver runs down his spine.  "No one can urt anyone in der.  Ifn ya try, ya just urt yur own damn self.  Dem rules didn't apply ta him."

She looks off into the forest for a few moments and then back to Cinder. "So, how did you get your powers? You said something about not being human? Were you born with these powers? Are they only spell-like abilities?"

She hops up to sit on the railing of the inn's porch.

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

Cinder shakes his head in the negative.  "Nah, I be uman, at least I think I be uman.  I gots no reason ta think oder wise.  Me anatomy iz uman at least.  Me first memories waz growin up on da streets of Lost Vegas.  I ad ta fight ta live an I fought arder dan da oders."  He lifts up his jacket showing a large contraption hanging there, a weapon of black metal and a slick black wood. (A three barreled mini gun.)  "I fought dogs, rats and radscorpions an I ate em.  I fought people and kilt wen I ad to.  I learnt ta control magic when I ad no choice.  Sum dumb fragger set me squat on fire.  I waz gonna burn, but I drew da fire in."  He again holds up his right hand, a hand encased in a fire that projects no heat.  It flares up, and an image of a squalor city street is projected.  One vague figure stands alone in the middle of a broken street.

"I drew da fire inta me and.  I done taught meself ta control first fire den flesh.  I done been learnin new spheres over da years.  I be da Magi, da street Mage."  This last part is said with a fierce pride.

Re: Out on the Porch (Part II)

Jon listened as the self-proclaimed street Mage told his story, taking interest in the weapon within his jacket.  It was clearly a gun, though the design was worlds different than any sort of craftsmanship he'd ever seen; it was much sharper, sleeker, and frankly shinier than any gun he'd come across, not that he used them himself.  He allowed himself a grin.  "You know, there's more to me than fur, teeth and claws.  I've got a few tricks of my own."  He held up one hand to display as he gripped what seemed to be empty air, only for that air to fill with a thick black smoke that seemed to coalesce into a solid object -  a rather vicious-looking bladed gauntlet.

Jonathan released his grip, and the weapon disappeared in a similar puff of smoke.  "Handy little trick.  Never unprepared for a fight; I can do it with my armor, too."

Breena listens to Cinder, thinking about what he says. "So you taught yourself magic? That's very interesting."

She watches Jonathan and smiles. "That's a very cute trick." She comments, looking earnest.

Selesia growled at Jonathan's shadow magic and attempted to bight the blade as it dispersed and happily trotted off as if she successfully destroyed the magical blade. She knew some magic herself but didn't have control over it, she barely could control her own dragons breath.

Cinder gives a small laugh and shakes his head.  Only after a few seconds does he answer the satyr's kinda question.  "Yeah, I tought meself magic.  Never ad a teacher of any kind."

He sits back, leaning the chair back on the rear legs.  "I done met a bunch of magicians ere, but none of dem are like me.  None in me world are like me.  I got spheres of magic dat I can control.  Fire waz just me first."
