Stan—Morothâ Assault

"The journey home isn't a long one," Demios says once they've left Silvervine behind them, in the dark streets of Skyway City.  "And many find that it is closer to them then they might like to think."
He leads them from the floating platforms and to the under-city on the surface.  Once on solid ground, but still within a financially secure district, they find an entrance to the storm sewer tunnels.  As they make their way into the sewer system, it is obvious that Demios is looking for something.
"There are many places of great evil, in this world," he explains.  "And each of them is tied, in some form or another, to the Abyss.  Ah!  Here," he says as he presses a switch, hidden somewhere on the mortared wall.  A section of the nearby wall sinks back and slides away, revealing to you a hidden passage!  The room beyond is shallow, maybe fifteen squared feet in its entirety.  It's most noticeable feature is a worn table, stained a deep crimson from some unknown—yet creatively imaginable—substance.  On the walls are two sets of thick iron rings from which hang old, rusted chains.
As you gaze into the room, taking in the grizzly scene, a low, growling noise assails your ears.  Demios quickly spins around, focused on a point further into the deep tunnel.
"I knew it!  Morotha shows her hand—but a bit too early!"  He motions for you to hurry into the dank, old torture chamber as he falls into an arcane chant.  You step inside, but continue looking at what might be about to come around the corner and rush your position.  As his chant reaches a crescendo, something does appear from around the corner—two somethings: the beasts are tall, standing about seven feet, although they are forced to bend forward in the tunnel.  They appear vaguely humanoid in frame, theirs being very muscular.  Their arms are huge, much bigger than their shorter, stocky legs; each appearing capable of tearing you from limb to limb.  A pair of shorter, spindly arms protrude from their bellies, each ending in five razor-sharp claws.  Their aura reeks of the demonic.
Demios thrusts his hands out in front of him, finishing his spell.  The brutes stop in their tracks, as if frozen in place by Demios' incantation.  "Let's go."
"But what about the people," Stan begins to question, referring to the citizens of Skyway, should they leave the demon's alive to roam about.
"Their punishment will be failing to stop us here," Demios says as he inspects one of the walls of the hidden chamber.  He collects a piece of chalk from under his cloak and begins to draw an arcane diagram.  Instantly, thin beads of light begin to grow as if he were an artist and had simply erased the image of a wall from the canvas before him, revealing a world colored a fiery red-orange.  "Their mistress will deal with them much more harshly than we ever could—believe me.  Now let's go."

The Abyss has been said to take on many forms, and scholars debate the actual meaning of the term layer as it applies to the chaotic plane.  Could the environments literally stack upon themselves, or could the divisions be more akin to continents on a large planet, like BĂ©lefontĂ©?  In any case, the party finds themselves stepping through the portal onto hard, black rock, punctuated by thin streams of liquid hot lava.  The sky is charcoal gray, and the horizon dotted by hundreds of black mountains; many of which glow red-hot and continually erupt.
They continue on a little further, cresting a nearby hill.  As they come to the top, they see what appears to be a pointed tower looming on the next hilltop.  Gathered behind an outcropping in the valley between them is a party of demons, ranging in diversity beyond description.
"My Lord," cries a pig-headed demon with cloven feet.  He rushes away from the encampment to greet the newcomers.  "My Lord!  Your servants await your command!"  At first you think he is speaking with Demios, but a moment passes, and you realize that he is talking to Stan.
