Re: Porto

Cool, but my money is on Shirok. Can we get Porto to describe the battlefield?

11:22, Today: Stan Fetchin rolled 7 using 1d20+5. init.

Re: Porto

Ilsa and Hennesey are thirty feet away on an open plain. No tricks just a straight test of strength, will, and combat expertise.

Stan cowers on top of a pillar twenty feet in the sky, Shirok looks up with contempt at the spellcaster, Neya howls balefully, waiting for the caster to fall from his raised position.

That good... Figured I'd give Stan a chance.

I'm up for a duel.  Not that Roth will be standing for long without any of his tricks.

Shall we have our battles here, or do it in separate pm threads and then repost the fight publicly upon its conclusion?

Re: Round 1 - Shirok v. Stan

Here's fine by me, I'm sure we can keep track of what's going on.  But I was suggesting someone other than Roth or Porto decide on their arena.

Re: Round 1 - Shirok v. Stan

Rogue battle!

I suggest the deck of a pitching ship. You don't even have to model it mechanically, but if you wanted to you could call for the occasional balance/tumble check. I assume you will be feinting alot, each trying to out-Bluff the other's Sense Motive for those extra sneak attack dice.

Edit: Porto is a bard. I don't think they get sneak attack. NVM.

Re: Round 1 - Shirok v. Stan

Shirok glared up at Stan; the coward was hiding up on top of his stone pillar, probably so that he could simply rain destruction down upon him while escaping all harm. He was about to be rudely disappointed.

Green energy pulsed around the druid as he raised his spear. He slammed the weapon's end into the stone structure, the energy streaming into the base of the pillar. Nothing seemed to happen for a fraction of a second, but suddenly the sides of the pillar streamed upward. The entire exterior of the pillar melted and twisted, rising up to form a thin shell surrounding Stan.

Standard: Cast Stone Shape. Can manipulate 15 cu. ft., and by my math Stan is now surrounded by a wall of stone that's six feet high and 1/8 of an inch thick at the top of his (presumably) 5x5 pillar. Stone has hardness 8 and 15 hp/inch, so I figure it takes 10 dmg at once to break a hole in the wall.

Move: Shirok moves directly next to the pillar, though the exact location is hidden from Stan. (No line of sight.)

Neya's move is also up to the pillar.

Dimensions of this ship?  Obstacles?  Resource limitations?

Re: Round 1 - Shirok v. Stan

Stan braced himself against either wall and began to shimmy up, but he quickly fell when his quarterstaff was snagged diagonally across the small space.

Failed a climb check.

Stan can perhaps hear Shirok's words as he begins to chant, once more focusing nature's energy into the tip of his staff.

Stan continues to climb, and to fall.

Re: Round 1 - Shirok v. Stan

"The prey has fallen into the trap," Shirok called out. "All that remains is to extinguish it."

The haft of his weapon struck the stone pillar, the stone rippling briefly as something appeared within it. A few seconds later, the stone beneath Stan erupted into a pair of thick stone arms, lashing out at the entombed wizard.

Shirok finishes casting the Summon. The earth elemental burrows its way up the pillar to attack Stan from below.

23:13, Today: Shirok Rezkala rolled 24,10 using 1d20+7,1d6+7. Earth Elemental atk/dmg. (Forgot +1 from Earth mastery, so it's atk 25 and dmg 11.)

Care to try again with a different battleground? The whole pillar thing was pretty unfortunate.

We could try, but it seems like it will always boil down to terrain. I could hit you and Neya for 5d6 each each round, but if you get in close you'll cut me up.
