Re: OOC
In reply to Dungeon Master (msg #930):
...and now, for my soapbox:
I'm not bitter about not having my item chosen for the RPG Superstar, or anything, but I do feel that their attitudes toward the competition is for the same mind set that brought about D&D 4e. Stemming from what I've said earlier, they (and I do understand that the judges do not fully represent Paizo) seem unwilling to try to really see where we as players take our games and ideas.
Your item, for example, they were too blinded by your use of Calistria not to see the game potential. ”Wonky mechanics?” Please! I've read several winners whose mechanics come under fire. The Shadow Box??? It's broken. Are the Ghostvision Gloves any better? Hell no. Channel energy affects undead hidden in walls, or otherwise unseen by the caster normally. You don't need gloves for that... And seriously, gloves?!?
So I guess the DM will need to track and define the movement and whereabouts of undead on his campaign now too, huh? I mean, since he can't be bothered to track and define his world map--you know, HIS JOB!!
No, instead we need a game without ”wonky mechanics,” a game where the DM isn't accountable--or even needed--to tell a good story, a game that plays itself. Something like... World of Warcraft. Yeah.
I'm not bitter or anything. =P
