"I'm out of here."  Roth shakes his head, seeing things getting so completely out of hand and the half-orc burden stirring up trouble.  Without hesitating, Roth turns and leaves the room to dig through the garbage for the urn.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

"Bloodshed is yours to cause or prevent. This is a shrine of Obad-Hai, and this statue has no place. Your men come to steal and kill like worthless thieves, to rebuild this statue in the midst of a fallen tower. It is this statue that is the center of this, and that is what you need to explain." Shirok paused just long enough to shoot an angry glare at Ilsa, one that promised a much longer discussion later, before returning his gaze to the 'child.'

My motivation in the grapple was mainly trying to prevent any casting from the high priest/creepy scholar. (Grappled creatures can't cast anything with Somatic components.) (Which is most spells) I'm betting at least one of the kid's minds has the magical power to intimidate/mind-control a horde of crazy ravers.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

The boy's eyes blaze wildly at Shirok’s statement regarding the responsibility of bloodshed.  It is apparent that he does not share the same sentiment.  “You presume much young man!  And you will find such a philosophy lacking.  One can outwardly shift blame to others for their actions; however true responsibility is in shown through wisdom in choosing to act, and how best to,” he says trying his best to remain stoic in the midst of being bitten by the wolf.  “Please, I would ask you to release—.”
Again, the boy appears to change slightly in demeanor and expression.  He looks down at his arm and the attached wolf.  A look of sheer anger mixed with terror and desperation now paints his face.  He begins to scream and shriek in high-pitched tones.
“Help me!  Somebody please!!”

Roth, Stan, and Porto quickly leave the statue chamber as Ilsa strikes Neya, the confusion charged atmosphere being too much for them.  Recalling what the boy said earlier, Roth begins to poke around in the pile of refuse.  Stan speaks softly to Roth as he sifts through the heap of broken wood, ruined art, and discarded stone fragments.  After a digging into the pile for several moments, the elf reaches in and produces an old, beaten and tarnished, empty silvered urn.

10:41, Today: Dungeon Master, on behalf of Roth Daos, rolled 26 using 1d20+8 with rolls of 18. Search.

Neya takes another blow from the flat-side of Ilsa’s greatsword.  She tries to stubbornly hang on to her target, however the phsyical abuse she's sustained is simply too much.  With a whimper that all but breaks Shirok's heart, the she-wolf falls to the floor.
“Stop this please!” the boy cries, cowering before the group.  “What is it you want?  I am defenseless!”

"Ilsa!" Shirok snarled, anger plain in his normally calm face. He continued in orcish for a time before his gaze flashed back towards the halfling that Neya still held. "I want answers! The only thing preventing us from leaving is the refusal of you and your minds to speak. Tell us why you are here, the purpose of this statue."

Ilsa clenched her hands tighter around her sword. It was a sign of anger and not that she'd be raising it against Shirok. She stepped forward so that she was chest-to-chest with Shirok. More orcish yelling followed.

With a smile Stan produces a scroll and begins to read the arcane characters written upon it.  As he softly speaks, the parchment begins to fade away.  As it does, so does Roth!
Once finished, the young wizard takes the urn from Porto.

“I don’t know anything!” the boy bellows, rubbing her/his injured forearm.  “That’s why I’m trying to rebuild it!  I-I can show you what I’ve found, and maybe you can help me?”

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

The atmosphere about the statue chamber is intense and charged with utter confusion.  Ilsa had beaten Neya into submission, and now she and Shirok are locked in a heated argument.  All the while, Stan and Porto stand in the other room; the wizard holding what they believe to be the missing urn.  As the strange little boy pleads with any who will listen, his head violently lurches forward and his eyes rollup into his eyelids.  He issues a loud grunt and stumbles forward as the cloaked form of Roth Daos fades into view, his sap in hand.
“Aanval! Aanval!” he cries, his voice having returned to that of an educated man—albeit a very upset educated man.  “Treachery!  Now you shall feel my master’s wrath!!”  Upon stating his war cry, the boy quickly draws his rapier and glares at the elf with supreme contempt.  Hatred and scorn become almost personified in the little one’s face.  The door to the room slams shut and many of the closer statues fall over from some unseen force, many of them shattering to pieces.  The room fills with a hellish din, like the screams of a hundred tormented souls.

Stan examines the door for any small opening such as a keyhole. If there is such a peephole, he looks through it to observe events inside.

"Would you mind keeping an eye on things out here?" he whispers softly to Porto. It would be a terrible time to be caught unaware.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

As the boy stumbles forward Ilsa’s attention is torn from Shirok and their heated argument.  The broad half-orc screams at the smaller framed elf, verbally chastising his aggressive actions against the boy.  She waives her great sword to further emphasize the threat.

Taken aback by Ilsa’s display and knowing the female’s disposition well enough through their short time together, Roth becomes visibly shaken.  The elf understands what could be at stake here and decides to strike out again anyway; maybe hoping the others will protect him from Ilsa’s forthcoming wrath.  However her display affects him too much, causing a slight hesitation which ultimately ruins the attack.

Shirok takes this opportunity in stride, and quickly falls into a familiar routine which summons forth a black bear!  The beast appears just behind the boy’s dog in a flash of warm and soothing light and accompanied by the sound of rustling leaves.  With a great roar, the bear comes down on the surprised canine, raking its dire claws along the poor creature’s back.

The boy keeps the tip of his rapier pointed at Roth, but rushes backward toward Ilsa, allowing Roth another opportunity to strike.  The elf swings his sap and connects; but amazingly the boy remains on his feet.  As he moves backward, he clenches his fist and holds it tightly against his upper body.  To those closest to him, a faint blue light can be seen radiating from his fist.  The light seems to restore a little clarity to his face and surefootedness to his stunned and somewhat groggy movements.
“Sythrael curse you!” he spits at Roth, his sneer giving way to facial expressions that are contradictory mixtures of both wicked disdain and enthusiastic joy.

Porto remains on the other side of the door, watching the scuffle unfold with Stan.

The boy’s dog spins around and attempts to bite the menacing black bear.  Despite its failed attack, Shirok finds himself silently applauding the beast’s dedication and fervor to defend itself against such a greater foe.

Stan towers over Porto as the two watch the others through the door’s keyhole.
