Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Roth awakes with a start, yelling out in orcish and grabbing at his recently cleaved shoulder as his eyes dart about, taking in the scene.  Seeing Porto and Stan but not the orcs or boy, the young elf calms down a bit and concludes, "That could have gone better."

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Neya awoke in a fury, her jaws snapping at Porto before she quieted and let him work, apparently realizing that the fight had ended. She remained lying upon the ground until Shirok reappeared near the entrance, her tail wagging as she bounded towards him. Almost immediately he dropped to one knee and placed a hand upon her head, quietly murmuring a few words to her in a tongue none of the others understood. The pair simply looked at each other for a few moments before Shirok stood again, moving towards the fallen form of Arroyo. Neya remained where she was, simply looking at Ilsa as she returned and growling softly, glaring at the barbarian.

Roth barely spared a glare at Ilsa before speaking to Stan and Porto, "Lets get the urn back to Kaele so we can be rid of the trash."

"Silence," Shirok said as he worked, restrained anger plain in his voice. He didn't look up from his work as he continued. "You will not speak of her as such, and if you can say nothing else then it would be best if you not spoke." Neya growled a brief agreement.

He added something in Orcish, apparently now speaking to Ilsa.

Roth is barely able to restrain himself from snapping back at Shirok, and instead gestures for Stan and Porto to follow him as he leaves the loathsome creatures behind.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Ilsa gazed at Shirok and tilted her said to the side slightly. A very slight grin came to her lips. She closed her eyes to acknowledge what he said, but she was clearly thinking of something. She took a few steps away, drew her sword, sat upon some debris, and distracted herself by cleaning and honing the blade.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

The minutes following the encounter with the boy are intense.  Many heated and emotional words are cast about at one another; their intended hurt lingering longer than any of the physical harm endured—which has since been treated thanks to Porto’s magic wand.  Roth’s wound closes, his split muscle and skin magically rejoining to flawless perfection; but he’ll carry the pain of the wound for a time longer.
Porto also treats Neya, and once it appears the she-wolf can walk pain-free again, the halfling looks to himself.  The wound he’d received was superficial, but what caused him the most concern was the overwhelming lapse in reason he’d suffered a few minutes before.  He felt drained and slightly nauseous.
The halfling was about to assist the dog, but finally decided against it as he wasn’t sure how the creature would react.  He offered Shirok a kindhearted nod as he watched the druid begin to treat its wounds.

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

The blink dog would live, though its master had fled. Shirok was silent for a few moments, trying to think through the anger he still felt. Finally he nodded slightly, and Neya broke off her glare to pad over beside him, sitting down calmly. "Porto, please wake it up," he said, focusing upon the dog.

Stan hurried after Roth, hoping to convince the elf to at least wait for some of his companions.

[In elven]

"Roth, I know you want to be alone right now, but please consider the dangers outside this tower. If you want to wait on a different floor, you should be safe enough. But don't go outside alone or you might be killed. Those savage gangs are still out there!"

Shirok waited for the dog's eyes to open before he began, Neya quietly sitting beside him though plainly ready to make sure the animal understood who was in charge.

"Your master has left this place, leaving you behind. If you wish to leave and go find him, none of us will stop you or follow you. But you must realize that your master has changed, that he is not always the same. I think your master is in danger, and I wish to help him. If you agree, I would speak with you about him."

Stan continues walking along with Roth. He gestures to Porto to join the two, as they move away from the orcs and their pets.

"We are going back to Kaele's," he says to Ilsa and Shirok. "I have wizards' business to attend to. It will involve hours of study and penning; I would not want to bore you with such tediousness. You are welcome to join me at Blackstone on the morrow."

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Ilsa & Shirok—
Porto uses the wand on the dog and runs from the room as it begins to stir.  He joins Stan and Roth and follows them as they make their way down and out of Colrac Hall.  The dog’s eyes open and it quickly stands up, growling at the half-orcs and large timber wolf still remaining.  Shirok speaks to it, but it doesn’t seem to be willing to respond.  As Neya growls (an attempt to calm the other beast), the dog returns the sentiment with a snarl and yap of its own—the dog’s sounds the more aggressive.

Porto, Roth, & Stan—
Roth and Stan make there way out of Colrac with Porto in tow.  As the three adventurers step out into the dusty lane, Roth and Stan are genuinely surprised to find that daybreak is upon them.  Hadn’t they entered the ruins just after midday?  Certainly they hadn’t spent that much time within the walls of Colrac and the Glass Tower.  Porto follows them as they quickly make their way through Godsgate and to the Blackstone Church.

OOC Or do you guys head to Silvervine first?  I posted Blackstone as it is much closer.  If you guys go to Silvervine instead, just ignore that I posted Blackstone and post that you go to Silvervine.

Shirk sighed slightly. "Fine. Go then, and rejoin your master," he said calmly as he stood, motioning for Neya to step away slightly to let it pass. He stepped away as well, giving Arroyo a clear path towards the door.

"I don't think it wants to go. Maybe it's spying on us," Ilsa said. She finished working on her sword, stood up, and gave it a few good test swings. Putting it away, she added, "I wonder if they'll run into the Rat Eaters on their way out."

Shirok was silent for a few more moments, looking at the fallen statue that had apparently been so important to the child. After some consideration he reached down and picked up one of the shards before finally turning to Ilsa.

"They leave because of your actions, Ilsa. Do you understand why?"

"Heh. Well, I did run the sneaky one through, but I warned him. Shouldn't have attacked the boy. The wizard is all right. Still don't trust the succulent one," Ilsa answered without looking at Shirok, as if she was distracted. When she did finally catch his gaze, she paused. She sighed, regretful that he was upset with her. "I'm sorry about Neya, but she was out of control. I tried not to hurt her."

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Stan didn't much want to go to Blackstone. Their reward - and possibly the scroll he was seeking - would both be found at Silvervine. Likewise Roth had named Kaele's as their destination, so to Silvervine Stan went.

Neya's ears flattened slightly, a look of what had to be indignation crossing her face as Shirok continued. "You realize that this is the same boy you were prepared to 'beat the answers out of'? The leader of the men you had spent the day killing?"

"Think, Ilsa! Someone who has been touched is not listened to when they give orders! To you! Someone touched does not survive when surrounded by Rat Eaters and cowards! It was the mind of a man somehow locked within the body of a child, and you allowed it to turn you against your own.

"That is why I am upset with you, Ilsa. Not because you were fooled. Because it took so little for you to turn against your allies."

Re: Prelude – The Glass Tower (The Chamber of Statues)

Ilsa set her jaw and said very slowly, "I warned him. He pressed. I didn't turn on them. They turned on me. I was doing what I thought was right. Protecting the child. If that was wrong, if I was tricked, then I'll apologize. But if I order someone to leave someone alone, I expect to be respected. Just like that stupid fat one, who thinks he can ignore my questions. That they would provoke me and then cry when I strike is insulting."
