Re: OOC 8 - something new

Quite so. Though, my memory banks were so low that I think I started having to do this circa the 6th grade. If you've got 1982, I consider that rather impressive!

Steve, do what Bill Cosby said to do. Sit down. Old people like us have a button in their butts that triggers memory.

Bill Cosby:
Then you sit down...

*sits down*

"OH! Now I remember what I was doing..."

*stands up*

"What was I doing again?"

Re: OOC 8 - something new

I have a better long term memory than short term.  I'll routinely remember things from years earlier that surprise people.

Alas, not so the short term.  Beepers save my life (from others who would surely like to kill me) in locating my keys and my car...

I can't help but imagine Bryon as some sort of cross between Dannica Collins as a bawdy barmaid and Bugs Bunny as Brunhildr from "What's Opera, Doc?"

Re: OOC 8 - something new

Actually I base her partly on Ashton from the Book/TV Mini Series North and South, except Ashton is evil and Bryon is more chaotic. The line - "I could never be with just one man. Why think of how disappointed all the rest would be!" - is as close to a direct quote as I can give.

Ashton of course ends up with Elkahna Bent, one of the most memorable Villians in TV history. "Jeffasahn (Jefferson) Davis has no taste for Woar (war). I on the ahtha (other) haynd (hand) am a Milatatay Genius, greata (greater) even than Napoleon!"

So yea, Bryon's flirtatiosness and openness about sexuality comes from Ashton. I think she is feisty like Ashton too, but Ashton was just evil. Bryon is not evil.

Re: OOC 8 - something new

Ben, could you clarify the timeline for the events in Lucimburic? It seems like events meant to take several days are all happening at once.

Isn't Scolo's main entertainment supposed to be at the wedding rather than on the day of the Solstice? As of now, it seems to be happening either the night before the Solstice or the night of the Solstice itself. Is the wedding supposed to take place on the day of the Solstice or several days later? It would help to have some clarification on this.

Hey Rita

Check the disguise skill. You can make "minor changes" which I've always thought of as a Lady "putting her face on." If you want, Bryon will be glad to show you a few tricks. =->

Re: OOC 8 - something new

I think the Royal wedding takes place on the Solstice.  The wedding a few days later is that of Tawna the Wereweasel and Haakon the Dressmaker.

Re: OOC 8 - something new

I believe the wedding was intended for solstice but did not happen then

On solstice night the dwarves were coming and stayed the night in another town while Scolo agonized over his personal faults with a day of sanity.
The day after solstice was a day of rest and the dwarves arrived, Scolo spent that day and the day before making fireworks so he missed the festivities.
The day after (Solstice +2) that was the beginning of the shopping in winter merchants faire and that thread is the shopping for the early part of the first day.
Some time later (unclear if same day but it required an appointment so it could be solstice +3 or evening of +2 was the meeting with the wereowls where Aelessuria learns of the plot. Then they go to the garden.
That evening (probably S+3) is the celebration.
I wasn't sure if Ben meant it to be a practice or not - it might be the wedding rehearsal.
The wedding is still to come perhaps S+4 or 5

It's really quite simple all you need to do is refract your fantasy expectations onto a saddle function for the time transform understanding that at several points there will be missing elements and asymptotic expectation structures. The whole thing must snap into a logical function but the expectation to fall into linear paths can be forced once the God function is endorsed.

Yeah I remember that - except it was solstice eve when we camped in the wilderness of Lucimburic. We arrives on the afternoon of solstice day the next day S+1 was the day of rest S+2 the shopping.

Re: OOC 8 - something new

Honestly I thought Ben Intended for shopping, going to the tower of higher learning, Visiting the Garden to see the Unicorns. All to happen on the same day. A few hours here, a few hours there, maybe a few minutes for certain things if they can be discussed handled fast enough.

Though I see how the dwarves needing to sell quite a bit of merchandise. Some of your people were probably their all day. Unless the haggling went well in which case a lot of it might have been traded or sold in a few hours.

Ben allowed us to be in two different threads simultaneously so that we could get more done. The wedding is scheduled for the solstice. As far as I know that hasn't changed. There might or might not have been a misunderstanding about the fireworks.

I think it's best to let Ben set out the Timeline he intended rather the speculate. Just my thoughts. Hope that helps. ^_^

In reply to Bryon (msg # 48):

Once she and Bryon get acquainted, Rita would appreciate Bryon giving her tips. As for the disguise skill, I think it's a cross class skill for a cleric. Rita would probably be unable to get it until she goes up a level (which hasn't happened in quite a long time).

Timeline for the events in Lucimburic:

The wedding was originally scheduled for the day after Solstice.  But there was the war, and there was the problem of getting everyone there... it has been pushed back.

The Dwarves did not arrive until solstice day.

The other events are occurring over the few days between solstice and wedding- and are almost done.

Re: OOC 8 - something new

I thought Kyriel said Aelasuria is the primary target. Though King Theoderic is also in grave danger as he is a target too. Arctos I am not sure if you should know that or not. If you should though thought I would share it. Although I am not sure why Huns would prioritize Aelasuria as more important unless it's because they hate elves?

I think it would have been even more humorous if the torch of wisdom descended upon Arctos' head. <Ka-thunk> "Ouch that hurt!" Rubs head. "Hey, I've got a great idea!"

That's a great idea for a new spell, Steve!

"Struck by the Torch of Wisdom:  Spell causes a Divine Torch to bash the caster in the head.  Caster gains +4 to all checks involving wisdom and intelligence, for 1 minute per level.  Caster takes 1d6 points non-lethal damage."
