That would be nice.  I like lists.  We can even make a thread entirely composed of lists if you like.

Re: OOC Thread: 05 Aug 09 - ?

It seems an ideal subject for the "Dawn of a New Era: Changes in the Nova Age" thread, actually.  Since that is where pertinent setting elements have gone.

So ... yeah.  I suppose I'll start with my Historian and Scribe duties by compiling the grand list.  I'll start with the Eon-Online Nova Census and then make sure to add the names we've invented.  If anyone has anyone they'd like added to the list, let me know.

Edit: Alright.  First drafts up now.  Let me clarify that the lists shouldn't make the game into more work for anyone.  They're for fun.  If we run into conflict with our own canon, I'm sure we'll figure it out.  I don't want the expanding pool of information to turn into a headache and part-time job for everyone.

Re: OOC Thread: 05 Aug 09 - ?

Thank you much.  And I don't really see the list becoming a problem, but rather is a solution to all the backtracking people would have to otherwise do.

I need to hunt down a full list of published novas at some point.

Oh, and I am waiting for one other new player to finish up background stuff, and then I will post a reply in the current thread.  Should be by the end of the day.

Re: OOC Thread: 05 Aug 09 - ?

Just to echo what I said to Zero in a PM: If anyone else is interested in the dinner meeting with Orzaiz et al, feel free to jump in. I had not originally intended to add anything else to the first post, just illustrate that Quentin is trying to keep in touch with that crowd, but if we have a bunch of folks that want to bail out of Africa or wherever for a night to talk transhumanism, so much the better.

Re: OOC Thread: 05 Aug 09 - ?

EON Online ( Linking again for redundancy's sake http://www.eononline.net/downloads/index.html ) has a Nova Census with page references for just about every canon Nova mentioned in the books.  Huge asset.  As I build out the list of NPC's I am sure I'll be referencing that a lot.

You might be able to drag Comstock to some meetings in the future, but right now I'm sure he'll be just fine punching Elites and doing garrison work.  Feel free to make a mockery of him though.

Solitaire tries to split the difference, bashing elites is fun, philosophy is interesting, though too much mega-intellect makes her head hurt. Not at this one, though she is at others, mainly to listen.

Re: New Player Up!

Welcome aboard Flare, I'm sure that having new people is going to make this game even better.
A question, for those of us at Raoul's villa, if we do join the terragen, are we comfortable with being public enemy number one?  The highest on T2M's hitlist?  Painted as traitors and turncoats and being hounded by both Pax and Proteus?

Re: New Player Up!

At present, there's no real animosity between the Terragen and Utopia.  But yeah, for the future that is a serious consideration.

A better question is how well would the team hold together in the event of a break in the team?  All of us going one way or the other would be easy.  Earlier in the OOC we'd talked about somehow rehabilitating the Terragen image and preventing it (as an organization at least) from becoming the refuge of the Nova-Supremacist terrors, too, so it might not be as difficult a matter.

For Comstock's part ... he'd probably follow you guys if you had good reasons.

Re: New Player Up!

I feel that would entirely depend on the timing.

[EDIT] It would be something of a Huge boon to them if a whole, well respected T2M team switched to their side.

[2nd EDIT] Course, we now have two new players to consider as well, I wonder their feeling on the matter.

Re: New Player Up!

Is it possible to separate the monkey skinners from the less blood thirsty terats?  If the philosophy of teras maintains personal responsibility and novas answering to nothing but their own scruples, such as they are, I don't think you can take out the harvesters or Nova prime, that any nova no matter how malign is special and deserves the right to find their own path to ascension or wherever they are going...

Re: New Player Up!

Quite true, but if the Pantheon were more of the "do what you want, but keep it to yourself" variety, it might set a better example that you could do it without stomping on baselines for the fun of it. It would still be, say, technically allowed, but more frowned upon as catering to baser instincts and a block to true greatness.

[Edit]You just have to make it clear that Teras is not the excuse to just 'cut loose' so many seem to think it is, but a call that all must seek a personal path to enlightenment, free from baseline constraints. Even if morality is one of the things you abandon, why involve yourself with baselines at all? They would be beneath you the same way ants are, not even worth notice. How could they possibly 'oppress' you, as Nova Vigilance claims? Even the weakest nova is light years beyond any normal human. Even Nova's that do work with baselines will see Teras eventually, it is a universal call when you are so much better than those around you, as each Nova is unique, so is his or her Teras, you cannot force enlightenment, it will come in time.

teras

You're starting to sound like a terat Sol, be very quiet or pax will hear you.  Someone who we haven't met yet is Scripture, I'm wondering when he'll make an appearance, and will he have eyes before his chrysalis?  Or if he has entered one before meeting Raoul, Pedro and Caroline...

Re: teras

Changing the direction of the Teragen as a whole really does rely on changing the direction of the Pantheon. Of course, once Scripture and Mal show up, they more or less dominate the whole ordeal through their extreme forces of personality and immense personal power.

Heh.  I have to admit, the speech is there for foreshadowing.  Hope today = Betrayal tomorrow when he finds out he's been sending Novas to Bahrain and Bahrain isn't what he thinks it is.  Unless the ST changes that bit of canon.  Which would be funny.  But somehow I don't think our PCs are going to change the shape of Utopia that much as members of T2M.

Re: teras

This is true, although I think we can do less to change its shape as Terats than we can as T2Mers.  What we really need to get things rolling is to have someone in Proteus.  Someone stealthy, mysterious and immune to mental probes.  Someone like Zero...

Re: teras

True ... but if I am to believe what I read in the tabloids, Dr. Zero is a former Nazi responsible for the Galatea and strangling kittens.  That ... actually, that probably makes him a perfect candidate for Proteus.  At least the kittens and Nazis parts of the story.

Harley's a ... questionable choice.  Depends on a lot.  Does Proteus have mind-control technology somewhere?  Because if Harley decided to go off script or make a scene he'd go from perfect agent to worst agent ever.
