In reply to Wheelman (msg # 662):

Yep... Slowly.  Had submissions due for a conference and simultaneously had to finalize paperwork on a house purchase and loan. Then I started getting the house up to date before we move in at the end of the month (my wife's grandmother's house; nice, but old and needs a lot of work).

I'll get some updates posted...

S'all good. I don't know how much news you guys get from up here, but it's been a horrible summer for forest fires in BC. I've been busy helping evacuees. We haven't had any evacuation notifications here in Kamloops but we've certainly had horribly smoky air.
Good luck with the renos and congrats on the new digs!

Apparently we don't get much info (not surprising really), as I didn't know that it was a particularly bad forest fire season.  It's awesome that you are helping the evacuees though.

Yeah, my brothers guard unit got called up to help with fires around here, been a hot and dry one. :/

Gonna try and get back to regular posting soonish. Life is almost back on a regular schedule.

I'm starting to wonder if life ever gets back on schedule... I keep waiting for a lull, but new stuff just keeps flooding in.

Same for me and Comstock.  There's been family issues lately, but hopefully here in the next week or two, things should return to some sense of normalcy.

Re: It's still got mad potential to be fun, dammit!

In reply to Gale (msg # 671):

Indeed!  I can't say '17 was bad, but it was hectic.  Baby #2 came out fine though, and the new house is finally livable, so I'm not going to complain too much :)

I hope everyone else is doing well, and that 2018 goes smoothly.  Given the highly sporadic nature of everyone's posting and their real-life workloads, I'm a bit uncertain whether posting here will pick up again. I didn't see many follow-ups on the posting from the summer, and it looks like things fell by the wayside again (or they did for me anyway).  That said, people are welcome to move forward with things (including taking more narrative control), or not.

If the answer is NOT,  I'm happy to let everyone know what the intent of the storyline was, my thoughts for the future of the cast, and provide a bit of closure on what was a great game before life got in everyone's way.  Who knows, maybe understanding more of the narrative could be a springboard for more...  Just let me know.

In reply to Solitaire (msg # 673):

Same.

I am apparently getting the Trinity stuff as a gift, I look forward to reading through it.  I'm a bit leery of the transition to the new system, as it is like a blend of fate and NWOD, but I'm willing to view it with an open mind.  I like that onyx path is experimenting with new stuff, but I feel like some of their stuff went in the wrong direction and made things more complex and less intuitive (I'm looking at you exalted 3e).

Re: It's still got mad potential to be fun, dammit!

I feel Exalted 3e had a lot of neat ideas. The combat system does seem like it would be very anime flavored, building up to huge, decisive attacks, but I am increasingly of the opinion that a game should only be just as complex as it needs to be. I used to like crunchy stuff, but I'm less interested in the min-maxing these days.

I picked up a copy of Chuubo's Marvelous Wish Granting Engine a week ago, and I am REALLY liking the feel I'm getting from it. A diceless systems intrigues me.

Bloody hell its been 3 weeks since last post? That is exactly what I mean. Felt like a few days.

Re: It's still got mad potential to be fun, dammit!

I agree, it's hard to remember to check the game.  Time dilation is real for me.

I think we have reached a point where the characters can't generate a challenging plot/story without affecting the whole game world, which requires some GM input on the regular.  So, yeah, maybe some guidance about ideas of the plot or where to take the characters would help revitalize things.

Also, it looks like there's a way to get email notifications for posts (I turned it on just now).  It's in the RPOL User Preferences.  And the responsive design (i.e. mobile friendly) is here:  http://responsive.rpol.net/

I really liked writing/playing with you all, so even if we decide this game is done, I hope we can keep in touch.  Maybe we could reboot with a different game?  I did the Blue Rose kickstarter a while ago so there's another system we could throw in the mix (though Blue Rose is a good bit more optimistic than any White Wolf property I've seen).

Re: It's still got mad potential to be fun, dammit!

Hey all how is everyone doing. Logged in out of randomness to check and see if anything happened to pick back up. Still quiet though guess with life, and time away from the game. I’ve been mostly busy with work or my family. Not anything too exciting. Been wanting to get back in and finish up my Wind and the wolves post. Would love for some conclusion to the setting. Hope all is well with everyone.

I'm on Discord a lot these days so feel free to message me for contact details if you want to catch up.

2021 Miss Y'all

We're actually starting up a tabletop game of Aberrant (in a weird novel setting we're still putting together) to carry us through the holiday season, so I thought to check the game.

Life is weird, but here we are.

I'm also on discord a fair amount - we have a small server that's mostly spillover from a too-large texting thread.
