More usable heading levels in Game Wikis

I'm trying to put a fair amount of more-or-less persistent information in my game wiki (house rules, mostly). However, I'm frustrated by the fact that the wiki stylesheet only really has two usable heading levels, and they're hugely different. The H1 level is very prominent (although the contrast is terrible), producing 24px light-gray text with a faint underline and lots of margin-bottom, great for big important headings. The H2 level, by contrast, is the same size as body text and is basically just bold. Plus it adds kind of a lot of margin below, separating it pretty far from whatever body text it was supposed to be heading. The theme stylesheet for the game wikis doesn't define any further heading levels, so we just get the defaults provided by browsers. Unfortunately this tends to have the result that H3 is bigger and more prominent than the lame tiny H2, and H4 is essentially identical to H2.

My recommendations:
  • Please increase the contrast on H1. #ccc against a #fafafa background is almost invisible. It's otherwise excellent.
  • Please make H2 more prominent; something clearly bigger than body text.
  • Please define at least an H3; the current H2 with less margin-bottom is fine.
  • I don't know if this is something you can do, but making the wiki produce fewer BR tags all over the place would really help keep headings attached to their body text, at least the ones made by starting a line with =. The wiki seems to just love putting BR tags all over the place. (I've noticed the forum site does this too but it seems to be less of a problem for typical forum use-cases, although spacing around lists and blockquotes is often terrible.) If nothing else, there should absolutely not ever be a BR immediately following a heading of any level. It just makes no sense at all.
