For all those times when you read a thread but don't respond right away, and then life gets in the way...

Would it be possible to do something like mark a thread as "unread" at a specific post, so it will go back there when you click New?  Or set some kind of reminder so you can see that even though you read the thread already you still need to do something with it?

Yes. Mark unread would be the single most significant feature that could be implemented for game longevity.
