Type in bio pic number

For those of us do, or would like to, fequent change overs of the biopics it would be handy if we could have a type in field. Then we could keep in our scratchpad or local text file a list of bio pics and just cut-paste them in.

Characters that do this are:
= Shape changers
= Disguise nuts
= Ladies who change outfits/hair

It would need to have a verification step that spits out a "not found" if it doesn't match to the current list of pictures. That being necessary due to the occasional maintenance & deletion of the biopics.

In reply to Brygun (msg # 1):

-1 Keep the links without code in your scratch pad. Copy and paste as applicable.

Re: Type in bio pic number

You can NOT copy & paste right now (AFAIK)

You have to go through the lists manually searching page after page for xxx###

I will also clarify that this is a request for an added feature leaving the existing manual page through still there.

Re: Type in bio pic number

Actually, you CAN keep links in your character sheet or a private post (not scratchpad though).  Simply search for the picture normally as if you were going to change your biopic, but then right click on it and copy the Link URL and keep it.  When you then click on that link later (hence why it won't work in the scratchpad since it'll just be text there), it will take you to your character sheet with the new biopic changed.

The link would look something like:
http://www.rpol.net/usermodules/profile.cgi?action=ChangePortrait&gi=XXXXX&cn=CharName&portrait=mh17&id=036

where XXXXX equals the game ID and CharName is the character's name.

Re: Type in bio pic number

Also keep in mind that the character portrait is meant to give a general idea of the character, and aid other players in the game in recognizing them.

It is not meant to accurately represent every hairstyle, outfit, or change of facial expression that the character goes through on a day-to-day or hourly basis.

If changing your character's portrait frequently works for you, and the game you're in, keep the links to do so in your scratchpad.   Setting up a list of potential character portraits to switch frequently between, however, is not an intended use of the portrait system and would, I think, be a very, very, very low priority for site features.

Re: Type in bio pic number

In one of my games there is a character who is a shapechanger with multiple forms.

The player just keeps a list of portraits in her character sheet.  Since the portraits all have a unique identifier which describes which category they're in, and enables you to work out which page in that category, finding them does not involve searching through the lists page by page.

For examble: fmc868 is Female Modern Casual - since there are 32 portraits on a page in that category, 868/32=27.125 which puts the portrait early on page 28.

If you don't want to do the math each time, you can always make a note on the character sheet like "fmc868 - 28" which tells you the category, the portrait number, and the page.

If you don't want a list on the sheet, then there is the scratchpad, or a private line in the character description.

Tidbit: There are jumps in numbers after the cleanups.
Yes you can record the page number.

The link posted above if you note has "change" in it and if the player of that character clicks on it does change it.

Re: Type in bio pic number

Tried the linking thing and found it useful.

Requested feature not really needed. Would be handy but not worth developing with a good alternative around.
