Thread Notifications
Being able to choose the ability to receive notifications only of certain threads would be nice rather than for a whole game or for a whole forum.

That way you can get notifications just for things that relate to you, the very reason I don't chat in Rpol General, is because I use notifications every 15min to keep me updated on my games, if I were to have the general forum in my sticky list, my email would just be constant spam for a ton of threads I don't even care about.

Notifications on threads I've posted on or at least the option.

That's been asked for before and is, unfortunately, not possible.  The system has no record of whether you have posted in a particular thread, only the time of the most recent post in the game or forum, compared to the last time you checked that game or forum.

Another good reason not to chat in General RPoL is that that particular forum is not intended for chat - you're thinking of Community Chat I think.  :)

Yes Sorry, I meant community.

Well it's called development isn't it :P

Practically every forum type site I've been on offers the ability to subscribe to threads, it can't be impossible.

Don't get me wrong I love Rpol, I don't think I'll ever leave, would just be nice to develop more options.

Yes, it might be possible, but it would involve basically rewriting the way the site works from the ground up.

What about rss feeds? I know some forums use those, but I dont know for sure what the coding or server load would be though I think it is the rss reader that checks particular feeds so the server load probably isnt near as high as if the server checked and informed in some way.

Yes, RPoL has RSS feeds.

You can set them up from your User Preferences.

The "issue" that RPoL has (other than the fact it's coded by one person) is that it's built, from the ground up, as a RolePlay site with RP-centric functionality.  Most other RP sites are adapted from popular BB software, so while they have many neat functionality from the base software, they lack the advanced RP functionality.

RPoL's the opposite, we have the best RP functionality but do lack some advanced forum functionality - functionality that many have gotten used to and take for granted as standard on other sites.  We're always a work in progress though, so it's rarely a "no, never" answer.
