Update preview

I would like to suggest we be able to see the preview view of character sheets as well as posts.

Update preview

I think this has been brought up before, but a definite +1 from me.

Too many times I have to fuss with tables, updating, checking, and then having to go back in to fix the table.  It would be so much easier if I could just get the preview option like posts get.

Update preview

I think originally the character sheet was envisaged as plain text ... but now we have easy tables, so +1 from me too.  :>

And this from the mod whose signature is "Whatever it is, I'm against it" so you know it's good. ;D

Also, can I give this a +2? I build very large and complex character sheets with easy tables and having to submit to see if I've misformatted something is a pain. I can build them in a reply post somewhere with a preview button, but it just makes more sense to build them where they're meant to go, you know? ^_^

Re: Update preview

Even without tables, a +1, since the default character sheets don't soft-wrap text.

Re: Update preview

I'd love to see options for uploading PDFs and advanced character sheets (similar to R20).

I agree, but that should probably be it's own  topic.

Agreed, but I also don't see it happening anytime soon.

Re: Update preview

You are talking larger file sizes if we're looking at PDFs, which will take up far more storage than the plain text we're currently working with.  And preview isn't going to be relevant there - it'd be click to open file, rather than wanting to see how RPoL renders RuBB code.

But PDF option (or any file type, really - I'm sure there'd be a market for XLS) could be a good feature for subscribers when that eventually gets here (and before anyone asks, no, we don't have an ETA yet).  :>

Re: Update preview

You might be able to have more complex character sheets hosted elsewhere, linked to your game. As long as RPoL isn't having to pay for the bandwidth, I imagine they would be okay with that.

Re: Update preview

In reply to Piestar (msg # 11):

Yes, you can already do that.  Set up you complex character sheet elsewhere, and just post the link into the RPoL character sheet.

You can also take a screen shot of the sheet, and post that into the RPoL sheet as an image.

Re: Update preview

In reply to Skald (msg # 10):

Understandable.  It's unfortunate but completely understandable with the (I assume) low revenue of the site.  I'd be excited to see a small subscriber-only feature for advanced character sheets when you finally get the sub features set up.
