Group 5 OOC

Hello folks and welcome to the non-human group!

This thread is for OOC discussion relating specifically to this group. Please keep ALL OOC talk for the group in this thread and not in the IC thread, with the ecxeption of dice rolls which may go in a private line to me IC, or in any form in this thread.

I'll be posting up a choice of starting locations here soon and would like you to vote on your preference. 'No preference' is a valid vote!

Whether your characters know each other or not will depend a little on where you start, though I'd like at least two of you two be acquainted.

If anyone has any long-term goals do let me know here or in a PM so I can corrupt set them up for you. Otherwise, I expect you'll develop some as we go :)

Re: Group 5 OOC

Right then, here's your choice of (rough) starting locations and (vague) position there. Please vote here for your choice or choices in order. Also feel free to request something if you've got another idea :)

Option 1
Location: A city-state in Tern
Ideas: Some or all of you are employed by the authorities of the city-state to do basic protection and clearance, and possibly some dirty work. Will come with a salary, occasional extra rewards, but the shackles of being tied to an employer (at first at least).

Option 2
Location: A village in Casson
Ideas: Some or all of you are members of the militia (service in Casson is compulsory but not full-time - it's not paid either). You'll spend some time looking out for the local community in various ways, and your free time however you please.

Option 3
Location: A lake-side village in Alasch
Ideas: You're travellers or natives from the local area, which is on the edge of the wilderness. You'd be free to explore and look for trouble, or settle down in the area for a while.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, don't feel confined to the starting locations or group - you're free to separate or join other groups when it makes sense IC.

Re: Group 5 OOC

3-1-2 for me.

Siliwen would not be part of any city or town militia to star with unless I just got a job there,  She comes form a noble's estate, no she is not noble she is one of the commoners whose parents were employed there.

Re: Group 5 OOC

Looks like we're going with the village in Alasch!

I'll sort out who's local and why the others are in the area in a little while.

Militia service is only compulsory for men, of course...! And not at all in Alasch, so no problem.

Garstone Shore

This knowledge should be considered OOC for Haruuna, and to an extent Milo. These are the details for the village you're starting in (and hopefully sticking around for a while :P).

Garstone Shore
The village of Garstone Shore is so named because it lies on the southern shore of Garstone Lake, which is itself at the foot of the Garstone Hills. The population is a mix of human and gnome majorities, and is almost two villages - the humans have built close to the lake, whilst the gnome community is built traditionally half-into the slopes of the hills to the south.

Fishing and arable crops are the main sources of food and income; there are few pastures.

The human homes are of traditional wattle-and-daub single-room construction with a central hearth. Those of the gnomes are of similar construction, but in all cases are of better quality and are at least partially underground.

There are three noble households. Lord Leonidas is the lord of the manor and maintains a small staff of three men-at-arms. He's a young lord, newly inherited from the Lord Julius, and is still learning the ropes. The day to day governing of the town is done by the town council of elders, currently led by Elder Delsean. The gnome community is seperately ruled by Lord Albin and Lady Quintana. A knight, Sir Buronnius Elderwyr, also has an estate here. The noble homes are all constructed of stone and are unusual in that they have two storeys. Several folk of the village are employed by the estates as cooks, chambermaids, and so forth on the estates.

There are three churches, two dedicated to Pascha, and one to Tressayn Slowhand. Mother Reina, a local herbalist, provides healing and care for the village, as well as (un)welcome advice.

Two other villages lie around the lake - Garstone Top is close, to the east, and Carenthel lies farther to the west. Both villages are part of Lord Leonidas' holdings. Garstone Top is to some extent a mining village, while Carenthel is much like Garstone Shore, though it has some pasture land where sheep and a few cows are kept.

Garstone shore is known locally for it's tolerant attitude to those of the Lesser Races - this attitude is fostered by Elder Delsean.

Rumours

Divided by character in private lines. They're just what you've heard locally or by travelling, so they may or may not be true! None for Haruuna as you're not local - sorry!

[Private to Lyra Duphaneus:
The elder is near death's door.

The Garstone Top fishers have a monster at their end of the lake.

The local Earl is planning to build a castle on the site of the village.
]

[Private to Siliwen:
The elder was poisoned - by Leonidas's staff!

There's treasure under the lake.

The Queen's Lancers are coming to look for potential recruits.
]

[Private to Milo Neek:
There's someone living with dogs out in nearby woods.

Brigands driven out by the army are heading towards the area.
