Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

It took only a modicum of time but without further ado Joron completed the small task of stowing his gear then left the cabin. Part of him had hoped to catch the Trandoshan or others on their way into the vessel but the rest of their group seemed....elusive. With a small nod to those already within the common room, the wayward young noble walked through the threshold and eyed those present.

"It seems improper to discuss thoughts and stratagem without all present. Has anyone seen Bokha or the others?" He asked with a small tilt of his head. The man in the gray robes had arrived prior to them, so it was possible the reserved man knew if they had or not. However, it seemed he had vanished without a trace. Just where had he run off to?

Kala
Xel responds briefly to Kala's comments. "Yeah, she's definitely unique. But finding her is harder than you'd think. After all, with the altered transponder and other precautions, you've got to make a visual identification."

As Xel starts work on the next bit, she says to Kala, "You might want to make your way up to the bridge and check her out. You know, get a feel for her before you have to take her up."

Common Room
Narik is nowhere to be seen when the others arrive in the common room.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

As Joron speculated on the whereabouts of the team a panel from one of the blank walls of the common room slid away to reveal a turbolift. Narik stepped out; the panel smoothly shut behind him forcing him to quickly snatch at the tail of his grey robes to prevent it catching in the door.

The ex-soldier nodded to those already assembled ”I saw the Zeltron board before I did, I don’t know about the Trandoshan” he answered Joron truthfully. The role of organising the group seemed to have naturally fallen to Joron so for the time being Narik let himself be led. ”I’m Narik” he introduced himself as he returned to seat he had taken earlier.

Narik had a moment where he was sure he recognised the younger man in brown and grey robes. All was revealed as Kaiten brought up the subject of the arena, ”I was lucky to back the winner. I saw the pair as even although I suspect many others who came to watch the fight did not hence the favourable odds I was able to obtain. It takes more than possessing a blaster to win a firefight, hey?”

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

One of the crewman from the bridge walks back to the common room. "Narik, sir, I have just been informed that the Trandoshan, Bokha, will not be joining the mission. We will be ready to launch on schedule, in five minutes." The crewman then excuses himself and heads back to the bridge to finish up the preflight.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

It was a moment of inquiry, a time where eyes flickered and narrowed as the wall panel slid to reveal the man that had been in the room only moments ago. How the man in gray knew of what had to be a secret panel caught Joron's interest, as did the question of why. From what he gathered at the meeting, Narik was a new member of Jaerad's employ but this...this made him think slightly differently. With nothing short of a colluded gaze, he mulled those thoughts for a long moment as he listened to the man speak.

"Joron," the noble replied with a faint smile. In a way, the introduction somehow felt hollow and without its typical flair but such things were to be expected, at least until that other matter was resolved. The discussion between Narik and Kaiten while curious, did not hold his attention as much as the secret panel. "Whatever were you doing back there?" He asked, his eyes flicking curiously to the wall he exited.

However, when the crewmen arrived, Joron couldn't help but frown; it seemed further discussions would have to wait.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

"Hey," he had said, when the woman in armor went through the room, not wanting to say her name since he couldn't remember what it was.  He was so sure she had told him, though so until she introduced herself again, he'd just have to get around saying anything.  Also, the armor itself was still bothering him.

After that he finds himself a seat and decides to watch the other people interact.  He made a mental note about he slide away panel on the wall, after Narik came in, but didn't give it any more thought than that.  What he did notice was that Joron seemed to react to it.  Also, upon hearing about Bokha, he gave an audible sigh of relief that he didn't have to share a room with him.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

When the crewman announced the launch schedule Narik sat with his hands in his robes. ”Acknowledged” he answered the crewman formally ”one of our crew, a Zeltron is elsewhere” he informed the human before he returned to the bridge.

Narik then turned his attention back to Joron ”Varis Rei occupies the upper level of the starship. I was confirming our orders. As we have now all been informed launch will be in five minutes. I suggest everyone finds a seat and straps themselves in.”

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

Upon hearing Narik's explanation, Joron gave the wall one last glance before saying, "I see."

With curiosity sated -or so it seemed- the mission's male delegate acquiesced to to the soldier's suggestion and walked to an unoccupied seat where he could keep his eyes on the entire room. After strapping himself in -should the sofa offer such a thing- he turned to Narik to continue their conversation. "I take it there have been no changes in our mission plan?"

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

In response to Joron’s query Narik nodded his head ”things are as they were. We will travel to Ryloth and enter the city as a trade delegation with Varis as the chief delegate. It would be worth our while to plan what we should do after that. Should we divide our team to approach Orn’s offspring and assess our targets the Distombe Clan simultaneously or remain as one?”

"I think it would be prudent to give such hard working bodyguards a chance to unwind during the trip. A most...rewarding evening at a club the young Distombe frequents? At most, one member of the delegation could go, if for nothing more than to give reason to their being present or to act as a distraction. A chance encounter may happen...where," Joron stopped there, humming in a sing-song manner rather than outright stating how their target would die. "I had hoped that the  Trandoshan would be of some use to us. But now..." he trailed off with a frown. "In the end, it should not prove difficult to play on the Distombe's pride or lust. An accident could easily be arranged with the former, the latter is death by pretty poison."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

"Splitting up would get the job quicker and if certain crew members feel like they would be better at certain jobs, then nobody has to have their time wasted.  It would draw the least amount of attention if we were in small groups, also.  However, the level of danger we will each face inreases if the group is smaller," he says, looking at Narik.

After that, he turns his attention to Joron and says, "As far as the assassination goes, we should figure out who wants to actually take the hit and devise a plan around that.  I'm betting most of us won't care, but we should at least ask first to see if somebody doesn't want to sully their hands.  Once we know why everyone is here, it should work itself out."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

Joron looked to Aadun and nodded. "I agree and that is exactly why I wished to discuss the matter further before we arrived." After all, thinking up ways to be rid of a person was one thing, having the people or tools at their disposal to follow through with a preconceived plan was another. "This ship is probably the last safe haven we'll see once we're on the planet. Even with our cover as a trade delegation, once word of our arrival has spread, I'm certain more than a few curious eyes will be cast our way. It's best to make use of our privacy while we have it."

Kala had nodded to the mechanic, before heading out. She made her way through the common room, and up to the bridge, giving a passing nod to those assembled. Once on the bridge, she looked for the crew who were probably beginning their pre-flight checklist, seeing if any of them was giving orders.

When Kala walked through the room, Aadun made sure to give her a wave back, before turning back to Narik and Joron. "She seems really busy, I wonder where she's going.  Anyway, back to what we were discussing.  I couldn't agree more," he responded to Joron and then he nods his head.  "I don't like going anywhere unprepared.  Since we're in agreement, I suppose we should try to assemble the rest of the group as soon as possible so that we can make these decisions."

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

The dynamics of the team were an eye opener to Narik. He had long been used to the strict hierarchy involved with the military. Here they discussed the plan democratically, he wondered how they would fare if required to make a snap decision. Who would they turn to? It also came with the territory that killing was included and that everyone was expect to get their hands dirty. Then he remembered that some of these people were civilians. Those people he had pledged to protect. People for whom killing another sentient was no way the norm. It may have surprised the others to learn that any that stood up and said that they would not kill would earn the respect of Narik. The taking of another’s life was to be carefully considered and approached with an element of fear. If fighting could be avoided it should. Unfortunately Narik did not see an option in this mission to avoid killing.

”I agree that we should divide ourselves. Better to avoid attention and move more swiftly” he paused considered the others meeting each of their eyes, these were the people both the Republic and Empire had failed, the galaxy had been dragged through a war with the Separatists and was now ruled by the iron grip of the Emperor. Narik feared any rebellion that would devastate what was left, destroying the lives and homes of many civilians. Where he could help to keep peace and distance others from killing he would ”I will kill the Distombe” he announced his intentions gravely and without relish ”no-one else need accompany me unless they wish to”.

As Kala entered the bridge, Krysten gave her a nod while standing out of the way for the crew.  She was watching them work, gauging their efficiency and competency while at the same time memorizing the location of the various stations so that, should it be required, she would be able to at least stand in for a crew member.

The crewman sitting in the pilot's chair sees Kala enter and stands up to allow her to take his place. "The preflight is finished, ma'am. She's all yours."

As far as Krysten can tell, the crew is competent and efficient.

"Very well. Is our course already plotted?" Kala asks, as she takes a seat, and begins to familiarize herself with the controls, where they were placed, and what all of them would do. The crew and any others watching her could probably tell she was used to doing this, the way she settled in.

"And do we have to contact any ground control, and request takeoff clearance, or are we going to be just heading out?"

Aadun grows quiet for a moment in thought.  "Considering the political situation, it seems logical that our little socialite would have protection, whether he knows it or not.  His family probably has him guarded."

He then smiles for a moment and then nods his head.  "I may be wrong about this, but just in case you should consider taking at least one more person with you.  I'm not doubting your skills, but numbers can make for a tricky situation."

Noting the crew's capabilities, Krysten turned and began making her way to the common room.  There was no need to be anti-social, after all.  She managed to enter the common room just as Aadun was finishing his last sentence.

She took a seat silently, returning any greetings with a nod while waiting for the rest of the group to continue.

With the launch of the starship imminent Narik grew tense. Once they were airborne there would be no turning back and blood would be spilt. Whose blood would be decided by the fates but Narik would try his best to prevent it being his own.

As the armoured female entered the common room Narik turned to face her briefly before he replied to Aadun. The Zabrak had a point ”I’ll not refuse any that want to help” he agreed looking around the room at his companions.

"Understood." Kala replied. Her hands began to fly over the controls, the engines beginning to cycle up. When the ship was ready to move, she eased it out of the hangar, and began to follow the flight path that the crew had gotten. Soon, they would be out of the atmosphere, and into space.

"Is our hyperspace course plotted as well?" Kala asked one of the crew.

"Yes ma'am, the hyperspace jumps have already been input into the navicomputer and will only need minor computational adjustments based on our hyperspace jump point."

In the common room, there is a slight jolt of motion as the ship lifts from the hangar bay and eases out into the Nar Shaddaa sky. To those with piloting skills, Kala's take-off feels like it could use a little work, but that could easily be attributed to this being a new ship to her.

Re: Mission to Ryloth Part I - The Lorelei

The motion of the ship as it took off may have been a little rough. Narik however made no comment. He had flown in smaller and bigger crafts, some were smoother others jarring. Nothing compared to the violent shaking of a ship being blasted by a bombardment of turbolasers, something Narik had been exposed to during his military career.

”We are decided then than on landing a group of us will begin surveillance on our target whilst the others make contact with Orn’s children. Does anyone want to volunteer to make that contact?”
