Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Krysten danced at the edge of Joron's reach and easily ducked his blow, and she gave a retrun blow that was just as easily avoided.  No sense in ending it all right away, was there?

[Private to Joron Sarrus: 09:02, Today: Krysten Tyner rolled 8 using 1d20+5. Attack vs Joron. Looks like that was my one lucky shot.  You should get your 20 aaaaany time now.]

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

There and gone, like a man that knew the pain that awaited should he stay, Joron quickly removed his lithe body from the reach the Mandalorian's blow. Krysten knew her unarmed combat, he gave her that, but the very moment she missed, his lips twisted into a insidious smile, a smile that was accompanied by a blur of spinning black. From behind one leg, the other swept through the air and headed straight towards his female opponent!

[private to Krysten Tyner: 18:26, Today: Joron Sarrus rolled 20 using 1d20+4. that thing I do where I miss again. I got my 20, though my bab helped! I also rolled 18:30, Today: Joron Sarrus rolled 3 using 1d3+2. d..a..mage?.]

OOC Note: Before this combat took place, I asked the GM if we'd be provoking AoOs and if they'd earn a participate an additional point. It was stated that due to the nature of this thread, we wouldn't be provoking them and no additional points will be granted.

Krysten steps in to the kick and takes it on her shoulder before connecting with a solid back arm punch straight to Jorons gut.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

The blow connected and pride faltered. So fast was the counter to his attack that all manner of defense seemed useless. With tightened abs and teeth, a sinister hiss escaped his lips as he fought to absorb the force of the Mandalorian's fist. Though it all happened in the blink of an eye, the burst of pain left him something to remember and that something caused a small flicker in his eyes. A glimmer of the danger that laid in wait in the depths of his mind. Swinging his left hand to the arm that struck his gut, Joron immediately took a single step forward and thrust his fist for the lady's chest! [private to Krysten Tyner: Good job! But I think I got you back?

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Joron managed to slip a punch past her guard, forcing Krysten to twist at the waist to turn it into a grazing blow.  The sudden change in momentum was enough to shift her next attack so that it whiffed completely.  She backed off, keeping her guard up while she considered her next attack.  It was two points to each of them, and she was bound and determined not to lose this match.

Granted, it was great fun either way, but it didn't say much for the most heavily armored of the bodyguards if she couldn't take on one of their diplomats in a little hand to hand.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Wit versus will, skill versus temerity, fueled by an incessant need and competitive drive, neither man nor woman wished to be defeated by the other. To those that watched their little match, things seemed interesting enough. Both combatants had done well this match, with neither side possessing a gross lead over the other. When Krysten took a step back and went on the defensive, Joron followed. For all his grace and charm, his attempted strike seemed...lacking. [private to Krysten Tyner:

It would seem that even in failure I must somehow outdo you. Thankfully, this isn't rcr or dnd, making the 1 an automatic miss, rather than a spectacular combative failure. Otherwise, I'd stumble around and cause a scene.

They were both getting tired, that must've been it.  Krysten deflected Jorons blow, and her return attack was decidedly languid.  She threw a punch that he ducked easily, and they were back where they started.

Fatigue, skill, luck, misfortune, whichever the case behind the constant misses, the two sparring were not yet finished. With her blow yet again avoided, the noble grinned and threw another punch in her direction! Who knew, perhaps this would be the one to finish her?

Varis watches the two combatants curiously. Knowing, as she does, Krysten's skill level, Joron's stock has risen in her esteem. He's obviously better than one could tell from his upbringing, although she isn't terribly surprised, given her similar background.

"At the current rate, the two of you may drop from exhaustion before one of you gets three points. I'd say you're fairly evenly matched."

Failed. His previous attack had failed, leaving an extreme lack of satisfaction upon his face. The longer the combat seemed to last, the more emotions boiled. Fun, yes, it was fun to go toe to toe with a Mandalorian and prove that he wasn't just another spoiled brat. However, the longer the combat lasted, the more he wished to finish it. "Close," Joron jested as he avoided Krysten's knee. "You want to give up or would you like to finish this?"

With those words, he spun his leg, aiming a kick for the lady's neck.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

The sudden hit to his back caused Joron's eyes to widen. Unexpected it was, to have such an abrupt end to their lengthy match. The tides had turned again and again, leaving neither truly ahead of the other. However, it was the Mandalorian that came out on top. Had they decided upon different weapons, the outcome may have been different but such thoughts seemed pointless right now. She had given him a number of things to think about and during this combat, he saw areas to improve upon.

"Next time," he said with a nod and a boyish grin. Oh he'd get her next time and in a match that would favor him as the victor. Finally finished with their duel, he sauntered out of the dueling area to get a bottle of water. [private to Krysten Tyner: Good job. :) ]

Krysten grins, her visible skin glistening with sweat as she follows Joron to the water.

"Next time indeed."

Grabbing a bottle of water, she grabs a seat to watch someone else.

"Anyone want to go with pistols?  I'm enjoying this,"
she says if no one speaks up.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Though he appeared fine when he exited the dueling circle, the moment the adrenaline faded from Joron's body he placed his back to the wall and slowly slid down. The combined blows to his midsection had done a number on him and thanks to that last blow, the nerves on his back were irate. Glancing from Varis and then to Krysten he shook his head. As much as he'd enjoy to go against the Mandalorian again, or even try his hand at swords, he needed some time to recuperate.

"Looks like you're up," Joron said to Aadun with the smallest of grins. He couldn't help but wonder if the slicer had what it took to out shoot Krysten.

"While Krysten and Aadun try their hand at pistols, would you care to duel with blades, Joron? I would like to get in one more match, at least."

Varis picks up one of the foils and waits for Joron or one of the others to grab the other.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Hazel eyes looked to the redheaded Duchess with a modicum of intrigue when she mentioned a match. Though he enjoyed the battle of hands and feet, it was a duel of swords and wits that truly brought him to the dining hall turned weapon salon to begin with. Narrowing his eyes and pursing his lips, he considered the offer carefully.

Carefully, apparently, lasted only a second.

With a sing-song hum, the dark haired dilettante stood from the floor, collected a foil and visor from the table then sauntered lazily toward the center of the room. Once he stood opposite of Varis, he donned the visor, brought the foil to his face then right back down in salute. For now, he said no words, for the weapon had said everything for him...he was ready. [private to GM: In case we're to roll initiative, I've done so...got a 19. Heh.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Krysten made her way around the edge of the room towards the small pistol range.  She picked up the pistol offered to her and hefted it a couple of times.  It was definitely lighter than she was used to, but it would have to do.  She motioned to Aadun.

"I'll go first.  Setting the bar and all that," she said with a sly grin.  With that, she turned and unleashed a hail of shots.  The first, a ranging shot, missed high and to the left.  The nine that followed, however, were spot on, hammering the target with the fusillade.  None of them were perfect bulls-eye's, but two of them were insanely close.

She turned and blew across the heat wave at Aadun before spinning the pistol around her finger and setting it back on the table.

"Your turn."

Varis salutes Joron politely, then puts the visor on with her free hand. She twirls over to her place and then assumes a ready position after flourishing her foil. She flashes a grin at Joron. "Come, Joron, I shall let you strike first. And then, I shall school you in the ways of dueling. I do hope you learn your lessons well as it shall be my deepest pleasure to provide them," she quips, confident and amused. [Private to Joron Sarrus: Varis yields initiative to Joron.]

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Unseen by the naked eye, Joron's visor veiled a poisonous grin. The taunts, like music, invigorated his dueling spirit. Varis knew of his weapon of choice, or rather, she had heard Jaerad mention it. He was a duelist through and through and now...now it was time to see if those years of training were worth the effort.

"Well, I am a fast learner," he replied, taking her amused words stride. En garde!"

Different, the way he moved with a sword was similar yet different. Prideful, graceful, each movement was an act drawn to capture and deceive. His feet were swift, his weapon intrepid, and the body across from them its mark. The speed in which he advanced was surreal. With a flourish and thrust of his arm, the young lord aimed directly for one of the lady's vital points.

Her heart. He aimed directly for her heart.

A whoosh of air escapes Varis's lips as Joron's lunge forces it from her lungs. A wicked smile forms in response. "Oh, a hit! How droll. A good beginning, but the beginning of the end. One lucky strike doesn't win the match!" she says with a cruel laugh.

Her first thrust is surgically precise, a nasty blow to Joron's own chest, above his heart.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Tickled by her cruelty, Joron replied with the only words that came to mind. "Call it whatever makes you feel better, it changes nothing."

Indeed it did not. A blow was a blow and be it skill or luck, that wouldn't change the slight against Varis' pride, nor the damage dealt. With Krysten, he had started on the defensive to gauge the way she fought and moved. But for the Duchess, he had changed his tactics she wouldn't know what to expect. Thus far, his aggression had paid off...but would it continue to?

In a flash of precision, the wicked lady's foil penetrated Joron's guard and stung his chest in a similar manner than he had just struck her. Oh she was good, very, very good and it was only when the wicked lady moved that he truly learned what he was up against. This wasn't going to be a walk in the park. Narrowing his eyes, he went on the offensive a second time, moving to strike her in the vital organs yet again. This time...her kidney.

Re: Lorelei - Weapon Salon

Varis neatly dances out of the way of Joron's strike. Her graceful movements are much more reminiscent of ballet than mere swordplay. With her free hand, she twitches her finger back and forth, "No, no, no. You naughty boy. Another hit shan't be so easy as the first. You'll have to be satisfied with first blood."

Her eyes flashing with glee, she darts in again, lightning quick, a slice across across Joron's belly which, with a real blade, would likely slit him open if it hit.
