Still working on the post, but in the mean time I've updated the XP thread! And since milestone leveling didn't exist when we started playing, I was hand-calculating XP using the rules from the book. Buuuut ain't nobody got time for that anymore so I just decided after 9 years you guys deserve to gain a level (plus some perks)!

I'll stick to milestone from now on because for the way we play it makes a ton more sense. If I were to calculate everything for this chapter, even giving tons of discretionary XP for roleplaying, I don't think you would have ended up anywhere close to the next level.

Yeah, milestones is a much better approach to levelling, I think - much easier on the poor GM, too!

We use it in my weekly D&D game, too.

Do I just update my HP total, but leave my current hitpoints untouched, or should I set them back to max? I can't remember what we've done before...

Though that's unsurprising as I looked to see when we last levelled up, and it was in 2012! XD

I would say reset HP back to maximum. You did rest one night and the trip back will essentially count as bed rest.

...I just re-read the last of Chapter 3. I think we still have the bowl, actually. Did we ever actually decide to give it to Terrel?

Funnily enough I think one of you are still holding onto it. Terrel never even asked about it when you were at his compound, so for all you know he has no idea you've got it.

It looks like we kept it with us, but didn't specify who had it or where it was or how it was concealed.

So I realized when I was talking to Toby about his character that the d20M system was already 7 years old when we started our game, and 3 years out of print... and we've been playing for 12 years beyond that. The system we are using is old enough to vote!

What would you think about switching over to a 5e system? I wouldn't want to do the UA d20 Modern conversion, because that just adds some modern spells and equipment to the same classes from D&D.

But I did some looking, and I found a guy who did a much more true-to-form conversion. You pick your base class (Strong, Tough), then the subclasses are d20M's advanced classes. We'd have to come up with a way to multiclass, but I've already got some ideas for how to make that work. I'm sure there are some other areas that are missing, but we could fix those as they come up (skills might need a tweak, for instance, and some of Frank's gun feats would need to be ported). Let me know if you would be interested in converting, and if this looks like it would work. I'm fine either way, since all of the content I've prepared is generic and I find stats that fit in the moment. If we do want to change, now would be a good time to do it, then we can start this chapter with the new versions.

I'm happy to stick to D20 modern unless it's really driving you guys nuts!

I regularly play 5e and I'm currently playing a game with a D20 modern 5e conversion, so I'm okay with a change, but I worry that switching to 5e would change the feel of the game.

That's fair. I'm good either way. I don't have the old ruleset on the tip of my tongue like I used to, but we need the rules so infrequently that it doesn't cause any burden, really.

Whoops, I made the game post but forgot to respond here. I'm doing good. We made the crazy decision that among everything else going on, now's a good time to buy a new house. So the next few months are going to be a mad dash of finishing all the little projects and upgrades we've been planning but never got around to finishing.

Yep, it's back to me. We have done the crazy thing of deciding to put our house up for sale, so ever last minute the last couple weeks have been making last-minute updates, and the next couple weeks look to be the same. I'm going to try to take a break from house stuff tomorrow, so I'll try to get a post up tomorrow night.
