So I guess that just hurling the chest at the fat man is out of the question?

Yeah.. looks like NPC is on holding duty - Fareeda graciously volunteers (oo, and sings an inspiring song that sets the boys' blood racing?) :p

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I'm having computer problems (My AC adapter decided to stop working and start beeping) so my posts may be shorted as I won't be doing them from home for a little bit.

That's ok with me, Thaniel.  You can be a "man of few words" for a bit.  :)

I'm assuming it's still "out of combat", until the DM says those famous words: "Roll for initiative!"

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Hello all, I am back from London. Graduation was a blast but I've had like 6 hours sleep in the last 60 odd, so apologies if I'm a little off the ball ;]

welcome back... unless anyone wants to squeeze in some diplomatic/intimidative efforts, Abbas is prepped to launch the attack and claim first action  :)

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Well, so much for trying to negotiate.

I'll hold my action off until later, since I rolled so low in initiative.

I'm traveling for a vacation all this upcoming week. I should have internet access to check in and post, but if you don't hear from me, you'll know what's happened.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I think I come just under a heavy load with the chest, phew! But do I have a free hand to draw my sword and attack with? Like, do I need two hands to carry the chest, or can I tuck it under one arm. I just thought I should check.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Good question, I'll say you can still fight with the chest but with a -2 penalty as its weight would unbalance you somewhat.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

This is why I said to post regardless of initiative order - you can always edit later :] Waiting around for people to post in initiative order just doesn't work with pbp. Even Abbas seems to be waiting for everyone else to post...

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Lambrac the assassin to the north will be moving to attack you before Linni's spell is released (which it will survive), you may wish to alter your action.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Okay, edited to D11.

See, this is why I prefer to wait. ;)

Personally, I do a system where I highlight those PCs who may act at the current time, it could be whoever's next in the initiative, or a whole bunch of PCs who can just go at once. Then I play my NPCs who are next in the initiative, then highlight those PCs who are allowed to act.

So:
Abbas, Assassins, Fareeda, Linni, Lambrac, Jibril
Abbas acts, then Assassins.
Then:
Abbas, Assassins, Fareeda, Linni, Lambrac, Jibril
The rest of the party can act.

I don't mean to be a busybody, I just like to discuss different ways of running games around here to see what works. This has just worked rather well for me so far.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Yes I was going to ask what people thought about a combat system since this one doesn't seem to be working too well. That initiativ 'grouping' idea sounds good but the problem again is that we could end up waiting for people.

If we went with that kind of system I'd have to impose a 24 hour limit on posting to keep things running. I will also make a seperate thread for the initiative table.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I'm not in the game (yet), but that system works fine in a game I am in. Maybe it is Lambrac's game :)

Above all, IMO, the DM should just plow on and not wait overlong for all players to give all details of their actions. It can lead to player's intents being misinterpreted but with sensible players that can be fixed easily enough. And...pacing, momentum, these are so important for a PbP game.

BTW, hi :)

Hi Mandy!

And, yes indeed, that makes three 5s rolled trying to hit the assassins in leather.  Had we a mysterious flanker behind them, Abbas would be on fire here :)
