Christmas was good, though as ever I ate too much.

Is that Asha we're meeting? Welcome!

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I fear it seems we have lost our second Thaniel. I'll give him another week or so before finding a replacement. There was a late applicant for the last round of recruitments who is keen to join in so at least it would not be a lengthy process.

I'll continue NPCing him until then.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I'm also trying out RPOL's new language function so you guys can chatter to each other in different languages and it will appear as incomprehensible to to those who are not fluent. Thaniel's words to Abbas should appear to any of you who don't speak elven as 'Language unknown' if that's not the case please let me know.

To be honest with major languages like elven/orc etc. I will probably just use Tolkien's actual language and PM those who understand it as it looks a lot better but for minor languages that don't actually have the benefit of a translator such as Chultan, Alzhedo etc. this will be helpful. The code is: [Language elven: "I'm an elf! Wohoo!"] or just replace 'elven' with any language you like.

I've added any language that any of your characters could speak, along with most of the main ones in the game. If any more come up I'll add them in.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I'm sorry to see Thaniel go, again.    Considering the normal attrition rates for D&D on Rpol, this is actually pretty normal, I think.

And Krogan speaks only Common and Orcish.

Oops!  I think I got him mixed up with another character.   I should have remembered that I'd have gotten Draconic at least.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

I've never tried or seen the language thing used before. Giving it a shot: "This is Gnomish" [Language unknown: "Si o Streenhis."]

Lambrac knows: Common, Lantanese, Gnome, Alzhedo, Ignan and Chultan.

Do we have a shared language to communicate in? Common is sometimes described as too crude. I assumed Alzhedo since we began in Calimshan and it's common in the area.

Sorry fellas, but as I've just PM'd to the DM I posted a private message to all my games five days ago letting them know I would be unavailable over the holiday period. Unfortunately for some reason this game didn't get the message.

Back on board now, haven't been timed out of a game since about 2005 :)

There isn't one language that everyone knows unfortunately. Several of the group do not speak Alzhedo.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Well several of you are not native to Calimport so not likely. I am happy with common, it is the trader tongue in Faerun and used as a universal language between people of different cultures so I see no problem with it.

Okay then.   Well, for everyone's knowledge, my languages are: Common, Orcish, Draconic, Alzhedo, and Chondathan.

I'll put it in my description as well.

Forgive the portrait that looks nothing like the description. RPOL's selection of dino portraits is lacking at best. I am awaiting a new one to clear.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Seems I have the wrong code for the language thing as nobody who speaks Elven can read Thaniel's sentence. Anyone got any ideas? Asked the rpol higher ups for help but none getting back to me yet.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Yeap, Natural Bond is almost mandatory.
I've never had a dino ally - though loved them in shifting form combat!
I found very good movement/control/combat with dire wolf, but, I have to admit, the strongest brute combat successes with semi-dinos aka crocs (and the swimming made water hazards much less worrisome :) )

Along that vein, summoning giant fiendish Crocs with a Malconvoker is simply delightful (especially if you have the imbue spell feat and a fellow mage that tosses haste down to complement your new allies :) ).  They were easily my favourite summons.

Hey guys! I'm still around, but very much in holiday mode. I'm going to try and get something up today, but I don't know if my family have anything big planned.

Re: Jungle Fever [OOC]

Well, I'm feeling this jungle heat. We had up to 39°C for the last two days, then yesterday was better at 31°C, but was so humid that it might as well have 39° again. D: Today's slightly cooler, but just as muggy.
