Jibril rolls his eyes at Zane and remarks to the Professor. "He can be probably be housebroken like a puppy."

"Oh, and the supposed tomb is warded with a level of magic that reaches artifact-level or close to it. Best tread wary there."

Hearing Jib, Zane snarls at him. His eyes narrow and he grunts, placing a hand on his javelins."Not dog. Zane. Helped. Rude man. No help again." Seems he's smarter then most realize. Whomever he was or is now, the jungle creature goes to the tree and grabs onto it as if ready to leave.

Krogan waved to the wild man.
It's okay, Zane.   We know you're a good friend.   Jibril had to be housebroken like a puppy, so he thinks everyone else has to as well.
The orc grinned at the wild man, grateful for the human's help earlier.

"No help again. Rude man." Zane seems pretty serious. He looks at Krogan, grunts as if agreeing and grabs hold of the tree more fully before begining to decend.

Krogan laughed loudly at the cleric's comeback.
How you clean yourself in the privacy of your own bunk is entirely your business, my friend.   Just keep that tongue to yourself.
He still kept chuckling, acknowledging that Jibril had gotten the better of that exchange.  Krogan knew he'd have to try better next time.

Jibril couldn't help but release a mirthful giggle at the orc, but then turned his attention back at the Professor.

"But seriously, what's for dinner? I'm famished after a long, long, long day in the jungle."

Lambrac smiled for Krogan's barbs at Jibril's expense, and stepped cautiously towards Zane. Weird or not, they really needed the wild man's help if they were to survive in this place. And Zane deserved a better opportunity to be a part of human civilization, among his own kind. "It's okay. No help rude man, rude man no help anyway... You help us. We help you. We need you." he tried, adopting Zane's pidgin speech, hoping that might be more easily understood. He waved around the group to indicate 'us', being sure to leave out Jibril and to encompass Fareeda, whom Zane had seemed to have taken a liking to. And you need us.

Gripping the tree, Zane snorts and growls towards Jibril again. That javelin throw was not /supposed/ to hit. Really. Shaking his head, he climbs back up and sits on a branch. Watching, he pulls out a small blade and jabs it into the branch.

Jibril had had enough. Brushing his hands off and tanding tall, he marches right up to Zane and points a finger at him.

"Listen, your snorting, sniveling, grunting, and growling at me is just as rude as my comments to you. You want me to stop, then you stop too, and we'll get along just fine. Otherwise, I can use a Silence spell to keep you quiet.  Capiche?"

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

The Professor watched the exchange between Jibril and Zane with a raised eyebrow. As Zane clambered back down the tree, Hingleswip moved to the gunwale and watched him disappear back into the jungle.

"Hm. I won't ask"

He turned back to look at Asha, "Greetings druidess, are you local to the area? Quite an impressive friend you have down there! I would love to meet him - if he's friendly of course!"

He rapped his cane three times on the deck and a few moments later, Ham and Jens appeared with platters of food - exotic jungle fruits and the last of the ship's salted meats.

Various tools and materials were strewn across the deck and a large contraption was half-built towards the prow - it was evident the Professor had been busy this day as well.

"Dig in, friends! A hard day for all hm hm...so tell me what did you see, what did you find?"

Krogan begins, though he has to swallow a few times to keep from drooling at the sight of the food.   Table manners are very important to him.
Our wild friend back here showed us to a waterfall a little ways up a cliff face.   A little hard to get to, but the water was very pure.    We also found an ancient crypt, guarded by undead warriors.   We didn't go inside, yet, since we wanted to tell you about it.

Asha smiles at the gnome's warm welcome. "He's very friendly! In fact, we have him to thank for this little morsel." She dropped the small deer Yaotl had caught to the deck of the flying machine before continuing to answer the Professor's questions.

"I'm actually a stranger to this part of Chult myself... though perhaps less so than you all."

Jibril watches the monkey of a man swing off in the trees and shrugs as he returns to sit down.  He stuffs his face with the delicacies the Professor has provided for their meal, while he listens to the others babble.

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

"Hey! Come back! Please!" Lambrac called after Zane, running to the railing and beckoning him back. Damn it, they needed the wild man. But he soon disappeared into the jungle, and there was really no way to find him.

"Is that how you lose all your friends, Jibril?" he asked the priest, annoyed by this outcome. Oh well, what's done was done. He hoped Zane would eventually find a decent life for himself.

Turning away, he was surprised to find that Hingleswip, Han and Jens had made themselves useful and gathered food. Well, after a long day's trek through the jungle, sweating out water and other matter, he was damn hungry. He stabbed some salted beef on a fork and ate, looking around what the gnomes had wrought while they'd been away. Hmm.

"It's ancient elven crypt, sort of like a large stone cube. We've broken the seal and defeated the skeletons. It should still contain all its grave goods. I think it should actually make this expedition worthwhile." Lambrac explained, trying to convince the professor to settle for this ruin — close by, opened, guardians known and reduced in number, still containing its wealth — rather pursuing his dream of Iscarion.

Thaniel wastes no time in sitting down and tucking into the food provided by his employer. After the adventures of the day his weariness is evident in his posture. "I am eager to investigate the tomblike structure underground. Do You think we could inspect it tomorrow morning, professor?"

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

"What happened to the wildman?" inquired Abbas as he reached the shiptop.  "I heard some matter of commotion as I climbed after securing the area.

After being briefly filled in, Abbas continued with the party's employer.  "Professor, the water source we located is a fair distance away, in that direction.  A short cliffwall opens into a hidden waterfall pool.  The water emerges from the rock, keeping it clean, and returns below.  Interestingly, there seems to be a passage just below the water level - it may simply channel below, but the height and isolation would make it a prime location for a hidden chambre - perhaps for later exploration.

The monument was indeed guarded by ancient elven warriors and the monolith itself showed markings of a very ancient elven branch. It is located en route to the water supply, in a clearing approximate in that direction. It should prove most interesting to explore, and its age may well assist us with the larger tomb site."

Taking time to restore himself with food after sharing about their limited water supply, Abbas inquired as to the great question."We found some possible woodsites, which we will need to check into tomorrow.  What is the status of repair of the ship?"

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

Lambrac:
"Is that how you lose all your friends, Jibril?" he asked the priest, annoyed by this outcome.

Jibril pauses to wipe his pouty lips with a napkin before raising an eyebrow at Lambrac.  "I have no friends.  Colleagues and acquaintances, yes. Annoying family members, yes. The occasional sexual liaison, yes.  But no friends." He states it matter-of-factly, but there is a twinge of something in his eyes that suggests regret. The emotion is fleeting and disappears along with his next comment.

"But no worries, I'm sure the wild man will be trekking me through the jungle, awaiting to fill my ass with poison darts blown through a bamboo tube at any given opportunity."

He leans back from the feast and addresses Thaniel and Abbas.  "Since we are talking about an apparently Elven tomb and both of you are Elves as far as I can tell, I will ask you again if your intent is to rob it?  As both a Calampani and a cleric, I'm not very fond of the idea of robbing tombs, which would make us no different than guttersnipes. Nor is it a very honorable thing to violate a sacred tomb.  So I'm curious how this is viewed from an Elven perspective, because in all of my dealings with Elves before, they were very prickly about their code of honor...and let's not count those who worship the Spider Queen."

Asha shook her head at Jibril, clearly disagreeing with him.

"You cannot steal from the dead, any more than a tree can steal nutrients from the leaves which have fallen and rotted. The urge to preserve a legacy is not a desire that nature acknowledges. Their time has passed and their bodies are forfeit, as are their possessions, in order to make the next generation stronger."

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

Linni was not surprised to discover her Uncles invisibility field. While she knew he was capable of such she figured he was just as likely to try and teleport the ship elsewhere. Climbing aboard the ship her stomach rumbled as Jibril made his enquiry on dinner, confirming her own hunger after the day’s rigorous journey. She dumped her pack on the deck and headed over to her Uncle. She smiled to Zane as he approached her again to tap her nose and pointed to the Professor, ”Uncle!> She wasn’t entirely sure he understood as he started his sweep of the deck.

Linni stood with her Uncle talking quietly and was distracted by the commotion between Jibril and Zane. Watching the wild man hoot and holler she frowned, curiously, at his antics. As he jumped off the ship and climbed down into the jungle once more she followed her Uncle to the gunwale and watched him depart. ”Curious.” She stated, though she smiled, positive they would run into the wild man again once they left.

As the feast was brought out before them Linni sat aside a fat yellow fruit for Kei, who lay down beside her and gnawed on the juicy morsel. Linni herself ate little, preferring the fresh fruits to the salted meats. She continued the conversation as it turned back to the mysterious tomb, ” We wouldn’t really be robbing it. Just exploring. You can’t rob knowledge.” Whether she was trying to convince herself, or maybe the rest of the group was hard to determine. ” Maybe there are some tomes down there which would let us know more of this area, or of our destination. The power of the magic, Jibril you said yourself. It’s already disturbed, what more could go wrong. We’ll be prepared this time!”

Re: 2 Mirtul DR1368 - 'On the Horse you rode in on'

Abbas stared silently at Jibril, mentally weighing whether the question was merely another baiting to prove how ignorant Jibril could be, or was genuinely concerned.  Although Abbas admitted he had his believed position, he chose to treat the question as a fair one.

"I cannot speak for all elvenkind any more than you are able to speak a common belief for all humankind, but I will endeavour to answer your question as best I am able.

"First, the location may or may not be a tomb.  We presume, but the location could as well be guarded by those who gave them selves to defend against mindless predation - a more likely reason than restless spirits bound to an untamed land.

"Second, if there are remains, and they are treated ignorantly, we would at quick odds.  The fallen's remains are respected, but the spirits have joined Corellon for their reward.

"Third, with a race that lives as long as we do, there is more more treasuring of the knowledge and lives lost to countless millenia of the sun's wheeling across the sky.  If we can discover lost lore, reconnect a lost branch to the main tree of our kind, then that is a thing of most precious and grand celebration.

'When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor time his sword nor wars quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.'"

The elven warrior tilted his head slightly and looked assessingly at the rather rude human priest.  "Does that resolve your question?"
