Re: Pre-game chatter

Holly will be your Druid for the evening, and will be serving up vegetables for all...

Gone with a female Druid, so currently Mord is outnumbered 2 to 1...

Watch out for her horse!  It bites!

And no, it won't be carrying all the gear........
Moonlight is too special for that......

How did you afford a horse on 30 gold!  or is that your druid pet?

Re: Pre-game chatter

One very special friend, curtesy of the wonderful rules of DND...

Indeed, the Druids Animal Companion is a horse.  Thought it appropriate with the tribal history of wandering tribes etc.

Her hair is dyed green, and the rest is lighting effects...  as least most people think so!  Heh, heh.

Was a great pic, and thought I'd use it.

Re: Pre-game chatter

She had a really bad accident experimenting with aloe or some such for sun screen,be nice and dont ask.

I told her and told her and told her not to use green dye in your hair it'll smear on your skin too.

So when it did it wouldnt come off so we dyed the rest of her skin green so.. um.. it wouldnt look odd.

C'mon were kids what do we know?

Re: Pre-game chatter

Decided that Holly will be a female Druidess, who was born to cousins of someone in the tribe, and "adopted" when her parents died.  Whereas her parents were sailors, Holly hates travelling on water, and prefers to have he toes in the fertile lands of the tribe.  Her constant companion is a horse, Moonlight.

She'll know all the others, but not sure about the relationships.  I'm sure she'll have a crush on Mord, but not sure how she fits in with Snow and "pete".  Perhaps Snow is a "sister" from her adoption, or childhood friend.  Happy to discuss this further.

Re: Pre-game chatter

Nooooooooeeeessssss....

Holly is an albino now.  I liked the other avatar more.

I'm mulling over relationships as well.  Family is family and that means we have to get along cause were blood.  Then again were all part of families and we know that not all reletives are regarded equally.

I'm leaning towards playing Snow as a bit of a immature spoiled little brat.  Likeable with long term potential if she grows up a little, but because of attention and stress bought about by expectations she's a little bratty.  She's a little aloof and distant cause that's the way she feels.

On the flip side, she's got a huge regard for family and when push comes to shove will do anything for them.  When the chips are down she can be surprisingly charismatic and inspirational loaning small glimpse to her potential if she survives long enough to reach it.

Re: Pre-game chatter

Well it took three whole days, of almost scrubbing herself raw to remove the dye that Snow "accidently" used to not only colour her hair, but also most of her body!!!  Holly thinks she'lll pay more attention next time the Druids talk about plants and their dye colours...

Did think the "green" picture was good, but as Holly not actually going around like that, at least not yet, I thought I'd change it to a non-colour piccy.

Re: Pre-game chatter

We're getting close to being ready to start.

Mord needs to choose Feats and Skills and fill in a short description.
Glumr needs to choose Skills.
Holly needs to chose a base set of typical prayed for Spells.

Once we have these, I'll start the first adventure.

Re: Pre-game chatter

Question on Skills..

If a skill is not in my class, nor is it cross class...

Do I get the modifier or no?

Example:

Decipher Scipt... This is not for rangers, nor is cross class.

Since it's key ability is Intelligence...  And say the character has an INT of 18, getting a +4 bonus...

Does the character get +4 in that skill, or nothing since it's not in his class or cross.

Re: Pre-game chatter

Depends if the skill is useable with out training or not.  If you can use it with out training you get the modifier.  If it's not useable with out training you cant use the skill at all.

The exception might be knowledge skills, where youre allowed to make a roll with out the trained skill, though youre answer can never be better than a 'general' answer.

Pretty sure the above is out of the 3.5e PHB, though the game master might handle things differently (shrugs)

Re: Pre-game chatter

Thats the way I remember it as well Snow.

Decipher Script is a Trained Skill, so if its not in your Skills list, or Cross-Skill, you can't use the skill.  DM might allow you to use up a Feat to gain training for it, but not sure if that at DM discretion, or in the rules.

Re: Pre-game chatter

Gotcha and makes sense... Rules were kind of vague about that piece.

That being said, I was just curious and it doesnt have any bearing on me being ready. :D

Looking forward to adventure.

Re: Pre-game chatter

In 3rd ed there were some skills that only certain classes could learn - Use Magical Device, for example.

But in 3.5 any skill is either a class skill, or you can get it cross-class by paying double for your ranks.
