I will be playing Angrim Kragmarr, a Dwarven knight (Lawful/noble) so we will have him for muscle.

I'm heavily considering playing a Thief, but magic is always neat.

Nice, I might actually play a non-magic character for once.

Blade Runner RPG

Gents,

New Bladerunner RPG on kickstarter. Looks very kewl and cyberpunkish. Wouldn't mind giving it a try at some point in the future.

Luck finally ran out....

Cyndi and I were exposed to Covid.  She's tested positive and is having minor symptoms; cough, fever,  some congestion.  So far, I'm negative and feel fine.  However, I'm quarantining with Cyndi and won't be at the game Saturday.

Would you like to try the online participation Vern? I'd be happy to do that if you are up for it.

Astronomy

I recently joined a local astronomy club that has meetings at the Morris Museum that has some really good presentations. The last one was on local superclusters. If anybody is interested and would like more info or just to talk about astronomy please let me know. I can setup a separate thread for it if there is interest. Thanks. You can post here or send me a Private Message (PM). Either is fine.

Re: Happy Easter

The new D&D movie Honor Among Thieves is pretty good and I would recommend it. It is still playing in the theater on RT 22 in Watchung and a bunch of other places. I wouldn't mind seeing it again if anybody is interested in going with me.

Re: Happy Easter

In reply to GM (msg # 335):
I got to see it last Thursday.  Cyndi's cousins from South Jersey were visiting and that gave me a break to get out of the house for a few hours.  Overall, I liked the movie.  It had a good balance of action and humor; the cast was enjoyable; and it was a real treat to see classic monsters on the big screen.  My quibbles with it were that the dragonborn, aarokoacra, and tabaxi were poorly done while Bradley Cooper's halfling cameo fell flat with poor effects.  LOTR set a high bar for forced perspective scenes and the movie failed to live up to that.  The climatic maze arena was great but, jump into a G-Cube to avoid a displacer beast?  Why not have the party pull a clever stunt to trick the displacer into the G-Cube?  Loved the party's battle with Sofina at the end; it was up there with the best Marvel climatic battles.

DND movie

Warning: I tried to keep things somewhat vague but there is some spoiler info

I think the point of jumping into the cube was because the monsters returned out of the arena and was the way they escaped the arena. I didn't mind that part. Agreed on the halfling bit visually but that was a very minor part in the movie. I thought the Dragonborn and Aarokoacra were ok and liked that they were in the movie but would have liked to see more of their abilities. I guess they purposely regulated them to minor roles so as to not take away from the main characters but it would have been nice to give them a little more.

One thing I really did like was making a strong woman character believable. Too many times when they cast a strong woman hero the role she plays isn't very believable.

You can pick on all sorts of issues if you want to. Like the end battle with Sofina. If she can cast 9th level spells then she has all sorts of nasty options which she didn't use. Heck, if she used the same spell she used previously in the movie to capture the main characters the 2nd time, it would have ended the combat in a hurry but you have to suspend reality a bit. It was a good scene.

RPOL Amazon Link

PSA - RPOL is run by volunteers and donations. You can donate directly if you wish (link to another game) but another method of helping is by using the Amazon affiliate link on the main page. What I will do is once I found something on Amazon that I want to buy, I log into Amazon and then I copy the text of the item description and paste it into the search box on the main RPOL page. Using the URL link of the item doesn't seem to work. Doing this will help give RPOL a small percentage of the sale with no cost to you.
