Re: Huh?
Okay, a few OOC points I wish to make...
(1) The character identity and make-up was made clear at the start. When I RTJ the game, I had several ideas but I offer Pyotr up as a child, and the DM was aware. He said so.
The DM runs the world, and the game, but neither the DM, not some number in a book has the power to change my concept of the character, especially as I have made it explicitly clear to him before the character set foot in this fascinating world what it was.
In character, you all have the right to believe what you wish, but I am the person inside Pyotr's head, and the fact is this; he is that 12 year old boy you read about from time to time who is thrust into an uncomfortable world by the fact that he has the intellect to go to college. He often sounds older then he is, and is often confused when his emotional development cannot keep up with the rest of him.
There is no debate, no discussion, and no argument on this, anymore then I would feel the right to argue who your characters are on the inside.
(2) I am uncertain what Jean remembers, but the fact is that at the time I used the cube, the reinforcements had not arrived. In character, he is free to remember things as he will, but this is the fact. There was a few minutes gap between the summon, and his being noticed by the others, but when the core action was taken, you were all looking deader then a door nail.
(3) Yes I did slip away before the battle, and it was pretty clear I could have escaped. In character, there is no way Pyotr was going to give the cube up, and to preserve character integrity, I was ready to have that character leave the game, to be true to himself. Despite the fact that his escape was pretty much a done deal, when you were attacked, I sat in the attic of some building and cast sadly ineffectual spells until I ran out, then really did the only thing that had a chance to save you all. Was it a risk? Yes, but it was a risk that endangered me most of all.
(4) Did I slip away? Yes, I did. But one of the final posts made to the DM before I was summoned back was to ask if I could use the cube to return to the same spot. With the Efreet's focus away from me, I hoped I might be of some help if combat ensued.
(5) None of this matters, in character, you all feel what you feel, and that I understand. For my part, I am always willing to face the repercussions of my actions, and if Pyotr needs to die, that's fine, it's an possibility in every game, or it's no fun, so don't sweat it.
