Re: OOC

We're still too far away for a short bow, aren't we?

In reply to Jaleh (msg #45):

Long range for a short bow but definitely still in range though.

Re: OOC

What's the penalty to hit at long range? I've got a Thaco of 18 with my shortbow according to my sheet. That sounds real good, but I remember things being kind of flip-flopped before current editions.

Short range: no penalty
Medium range: -2
Long range: -5 (yikes!)

Re: OOC

Ouch, -5. Okay, so I have an 18 with the weapon I seem to have the least bonus with, until we get into melee that is, and a lower number with other things. So, do I add the minus? Like, if I shot from here, would that be a 23? Am I trying to roll under that? Sounds kind of wonky.

Re: OOC

To hit ac 0 you need to roll an 18 or above. These guys are all ac 7, so at close range you would need to roll only 11 or higher to hit them. Since there is such a distance between you and the target you will need to roll a 16 to hit them.

Ah, okay. I see now. Not so wonky once you understand. :)

I already said somewhere else that you're evil, Ken. Now I know you're also chaotic. ;)

Well, no one's posted in a few days.  Is it time to advance it another round or so?

I recommend you all keep firing and rolling to hit rolls until the DM returns :)

Re: OOC

Well, we were only fifty or sixty feet from shore at the beginning of the last round.

I'm not sure how fast a ship normally moves in d&d, but a person normally walks 360 feet per round outdoors in the game.  So, I'm guessing we should have hit shore already during this round.

Re: OOC

Agreed. If you guys keep shooting long enough there will be no enemies standing then the ships close on us.

I've been laid up sick for a couple of days. I've meant to post, but haven't been able too. I'm not sure it's over with yet, although I am feeling better. Assume my character is firing at the other sailors until that's no longer an option.

Re: OOC

I'd appreciate it if players stayed away from godmodding.  Jean is a round ahead of everyone else in leaving the ship.  And he'll be no where near the beach when anyone gets there.

Re: OOC

Godmodding, huh.

You're using a lance in water on a horse with an injured leg that you jumped off the back of a ship moving about 8 knots into a beach while wearing armor.

Let me edit then.

Re: OOC

erm... Did Armin fall? His scimitar made fast work of a Rus warrior's skull, but I can't find any reference to him having fallen. Or am I misreading...?

msg 80:
Four of the Rus manage to hit Armin and he falls off his horse onto the ground. The Rus near the area swarm the body on the ground.

It's in the second-to-last paragraph.

Re: OOC

Feeling pretty decent right now...my body just does not handle meds well. I rarely even take aspirin so when they shove the vikes down my throat everything just rebels!

Working on an update right now...thanks for your patience.
