Loukas holds up his hands, "Easy there, fellows. Let the good Brother, A'kos and I speed ahead. Our attack will draw them off the slaves. The rest of you follow as support, but Balthazar, you do your flying invisibility thing and come around them from the rear. Come!"

Brother Finnegan happily strings his longbow, gets his arrows ready, and says, "Ready when you are, Loukas!"

Balthazar obliges, casting the two spells and lifting up into the air to scan the battle scene.

Balthazar casts detect invisible just to make sure that Loukas behaves himself while invisible.  He knows all about 'letting it all hang out' while no one can see...

Loukas, weirdly, and very much non-hedonistically is keeping his clothes on and does not touch himself in a lewd manner.

Re: Grail!

The small warband lead by A'Kos and consisting of Brother Finnegan, Yaro and the six archers as well as Thorn and Onfim Begin to make their way intot he outskirts of the village, as yet they have not been spotted. Balthazar and Loukas make it into the center of the village a few minutes before the rest hit the edge of the village.

Cuivi and the golem remain outside the village with the wagon.

Loukas and Balthazar see 10 prisoners held in a makeshift corral. A pile of loot lie near the edge of the corral and 30 mongrel Pechenegs admire their work just a few feet from the pile of loot.

What is the distance from the warband to the nearest Pechenegs? I.e. are they in longbow range yet?

Re: Grail!

Loukas's assumption is that Balthazar will be intent on the people and goods. His intent, is to strike at the Pechenegs when they attack A'kos and Brother Finnegan. That is, he'll wait until they realize the warband is approaching and move to meet the Magyar and Irishman, et al.

At that point he will use his invisibility and speed to time his strike at the rear or flank (whichever is easiest, but preferably the rear) of the Pechenegs as they meet the oncoming forces. When he finally strikes he will begin singing song of the Fellowship to give his allies within range.

Edited for the sake of clarity.

Balthazar discovers that the only lock holding the human captives in the corral is fear. The 10 women and children have been brutalized. A sole Pecheneg stands guard at the gate.

The small war party is still several hundred yards away but they have been spotted and the bulk of the Pechenegs begin to charge in their direction...29 of them. They are on foot and seemed a bit better armed and armored that the average Pecheneg warrior.

Let them get in range of our archers and deal with them as they advance, if they advance. Try to cut them down at a distance since there may be more in the area that we will have to deal with...just some suggestions but I defer to you are the obvious war leader.""

Brother Finnegan can't resist.  Using his magic ring, he buries the Pecheneg charge in an ice storm.  Hmm... which kind, icicles or ice cloud?  I am at work and don't have the book in front of me, but if the bulk of the Pechenegs can be hit by the icicles doing 3-30 to each no save, I'll go for that.  If not, the slippery ice version worked great against a charge the last time.

Balthazar, still invisible, flies above (but out of melee range) the lone Pecheneg and announces loudly with as sinister a voice as he can muster, "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?  I always ask that of all my prey." He then lets his magic scimitar slip out of its sheathe making sure the Pecheneg can hear it.

trying to scare him away so Balthazar need not lose his invisibilty, but he'll attack if the guy doesn't budge

Re: Grail!

Loukas paces the Pechenegs with the intention of speeding up to attack the rearmost riders as the frontmost make contact with A'kos and company. If everything works as he hopes he will run up between two Pecheneg riders and strike. The attack combined with his song will break his invisibility, but he'll keep up with the them and strike relentlessly nevertheless.

As the ice storm strikes, A'kos strings his longbow and begins raining arrows into the pechanegs midst.  When they're within 60 yards, he'll discard the bow for his sword, and wade into combat.

Re: Grail!

Hearing the disembodied voice, the sole Pecheneg guard flees into the nearby forest.

The ice storm hits the Pecheneg riders just as they are within bowshot. The ice storm does a terrific amount of damage and when it is over only to Pechenegs are left standing...the leader, a larger half orc with excellent armor and not untouched by the storm falls under the arrows of the Magyar while the other...a wounded pecheneg warriors falls to Thorns arrow shot from the flank.

As quick as that it is over and bodies of Pechenegs litter the ground, most cut down with the large chunks of ice.

Re: Grail!

Having little opportunity to have any effect in the battle, Yves hustles back to the gate locking the would-be slaves into the corral. If Balthazar has not already dealt with the lock he will attempt to pick it. As he does so he begins singing a song to the an the tune of an old folk song about an old milk cow who despite being put upon by everyone in the farmyard she continues to give her milk. The trials and tribulations of the cow are met with wry retorts and humor and a few tricks of her own.

Balthazar thinks about going after him, then changes his mind.  "Nah, let him get away.  Killing someone fleeing a battlefield isn't really my thing.  Maybe he'll tell his brethren we are in the area and they'll all steer clear of us."

Balthazar flies up high to do some long range scouting.  What's in the area?
