I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Also wrong game, until the mage can cast Meteor Swarm anyway.

Re: New players

How about Conjure Fire Elemental? Falx even has that memorised.
Or perhaps Incendiary Cloud is the go? Brutus has it in one of the many books half filling one of the wagons (although nobody can cast it just yet).
Of course IC posting is much prefered...

Re: New players

*Groan!*
There's history with one of them and a pair of boots of levitation. Do the maths and you'll find there's sufficient thrust from a Decanter of Endless Water on geyser setting to send a levitating character jetting about all over the place.

That sounds hilarious... Instead of the Rocketeer, it would be SeltzerMan!

I'll be heading out of town tonight for NYC for a few days.  Will only have access by mobile phone but will try to keep us as best I can.

Any magical item with the word 'infinite' in it is a problem, I suspect.

Re: New players

It's an example of lateral thinking. From what is supposed to be a downside (the decanters "recoil") a positive effect was found. The same effect could potentially be used to propel boats, and light wagons (provided you don't mind leaving a muddy road behind you).
So basically an intelligent character can cause great problems for a GM even if all they've got is something as mundane and ostensibly useless like a -1 cursed sword.

Re: New players

I know...
It's Athelstan, Bregor, Brutus, Jeremiah, Natasha and Skrufulus, not to mention Triladir who needs to be just a touch more active.

My guess is most of the PCs are in favour of a little spelunking to remove the threat, but I need IC posts before I can move on.

Re: New players

I know, and I really don't care if they go or not, though my alter ego is concerned about the baby.

Either way, I would like to see it happen.

Any chance of a bit of DM initiative moving them to a point where they might be more motivated to post?

Re: New players

I was thinking more in the way of moving them down the hole, and seeing the monsters, then being told to roll initiative, but it seems Brutus has offered up some action.

Can I prompt one of the NPC's to lower his down, as requested?

Re: New players

Natasha:
Natasha began tying the mage up as the words left his mouth. She tightened the ropes to the edge of comfort, tied the free end to a wagon and summarily jerked Brutus to test the rope.

Then she gave the rope four feet slack, positioned the absailee and pushed.

So....Brutus....getting lucky tonight?

Oops!

I can't describe just how phenomenal the situation is with flames blasting skyward in all directions, dirt flying and scorched burrowing creatures rudely ejected from their homes as the earth shakes. Looks a little like something from a mythbusters episode.

And then there's the squeal of terror from Brutus below as the fire smacks him in the face!

Although the PCs don't know it yet, he's essentially unharmed (damn magical protections!) but could do with a change of underwear. :p

On a more positive note, there's a 100% chance the spell got the ankhegs.

rolmao!
