Desafon

(repeat)

Upon entering the headquarters, Desafon was stopped by two burly guards in heavy armour.

"Membership seal, friend?" asked one.

Ruse

Ruse soon came upon the Necronomnomnomnomicon, and almost fainted when he saw the prices of a standard magical tool.. with a (assured) heavy discount, they came to a thousand CS each.

"Can I help you, friend?" asked the shopkeep.

Max

The Fae blinked, and led Max outside of the Markets, into the city proper. There, he may find Sophilita..

Re: RP PUBLIC V10T: The Markets of Nicodemus

Ruse nodded, and flashed his Conclave lord badge and oath blade. He meant business.

"I am Low Lord Ruse of the Conclave. I need to requisition a magical tool or two for the sake of a mission. I am working to counteract the efforts of not one but two mad gods right now. The current prices listed here are not to my satisfaction. I would like to not have to forcefully requisition the tools from someone, so instead let me ask this: is there some way that you will either sell me the tools I need for 100 conclave stones, or perhaps can we work out a different arrangement where I can borrow the tools for my mission and return them afterwards? I am willing to return the tools to you when I conclude my mission. But it is vital to the health and wellfare of our organization that I obtain these tools one way or the other. Otherwise things like the Hall of the Sun terrorist attack will keep happening."

Ruse ran a hand through his silky pale hair, and added,

"We can work out a positive arrangement, yes?"

Ruse

"Excuse me for a moment," said the shopkeeper, after being approached politely by a Conclave market official. When he returned, he was grinning. "You're in luck, friend. Now, you know and I know that you can't just wander around in here requisitioning items - not unless you're the highest of High Lords or a Councilman or something - but, as I said, we've had good news. The economy's bounced back. I can sell you a single magical tool for a hundred and twenty Conclave Stones, easy."

Foun

Foun should continue posting in the Valley of Ten Towers.

Ruse nodded, and replied,

"Well to be honest, requesitioning such things as this is a bit...rude, don't you think? That is why I prefer not to engage in that route of acquisition. It's just a bit too forceful, yes? Your price is most agreeable to me. However, can we make a special arrangement? I have a couple thousand conclave stones coming to me soon as a part of my wages. I'd like to make a purchase now and have the 120 stone fee be auto-debited from my account. If you'd like, I can give you up to 100 stones now as an up-front payment, and have the rest auto-debited from my wages - which I will be receiving soon. Is this arrangement agreeable?"

"Ah," said the soldier. "Not a member. You've got to make a request, be a merchant registered upon some body, and pay a tithe of fifteen thousand Conclave Stones to the Club - or the equivalent, of course. We're here for free commerce, after all."

Ruse

"Ahahaha," said the shopkeeper. "Sounds fine, friend, fine - but how about I take the hundred now, and you return with, say, fifty when you can? That definitely sounds better to me, sir."

Re: RP PUBLIC V10T: The Markets of Nicodemus

Ruse nodded his head in agreement. Mind-raping the man over something like this just didn't feel right to Ruse. At least not given the circumstances. He didn't view his capabilities so cheaply, especially since the shop keeper was willing to negotiate.

"I would like two tools actually - a chance and an order tool. For 300 stones total then, according to my calculations. Of course, I will give you all of my 100 stones that I have on me right now as a down-payment. I am a low lord of the office of Roid, so you know our word is good. I will transfer the other 200 stones to you as soon as possible, when they some into my account. Does this agree with you, my good sir?"

Nodding, Desafon strokes his chin. "Of course. At the moment I'm incapable of paying said amount, but rest assured that I shall return with my entrance fee. Eventually. I shall become a member and I shall most definitely prove to be a useful merchant." Otherwise, he finds himself unable to do little more. Afterward, he looks around the market in search of any mercenary jobs that he might be able to perform until such time as he can afford to pay either the entrance to the Merchant Guild or the Weapons Training Hall.

The shopkeeper smiled. "I will withdraw three hundred from your account. No worries there. Dice and scales.." he rummaged through the back, eventually passing a fine set of two iron dice to Ruse, in addition to a large set of silver scales. "These'll do the trick. Okay, everything's settled.. have a fantastic day."

Desafon

There was nothing immediately obvious, but Desafon soon came upon a building in the Market district titled BOUNTY SERVICES.

Ruse turned to leave, and then stopped and asked,

"By the way, do you or another establishment here have any information on Magical tomes for royal tradition magic? Do you also know where I can find any information about Earthborn Quaballa magic?"

"We sell a few books on Royal Tradition magic - guide books, grimoirs, and tetragrammatons mostly - but your best bet might be with the Public Archival Library, or maybe buy a pass to the Tower of Babilu. Zen qabala, huh? Interesting.. we have several manuals, a lot of Crowley's stuff, but not much else. You might want to check the Earthborn or Magic section of the Library."

Re: RP PUBLIC V10T: The Markets of Nicodemus

Ruse

"See, when it comes to Royal Tradition, the fields, they don't like to mix.. it's very difficult to do some things, especially with a limited magical training. Grimoires overcome that. With, say, A Thousand Howls of Time, it is possible to blend Time magic with the field of Demonology.. summon demons from the past, present, future.. and so forth. Tetragrammatons are something altogether different - very rare, very expensive books tied to a particular magical tradition. They themselves are deeply magical. An example, say, would be the Necronomicon.."

The shop-keep chuckled.

"On the other side of the city rests the Tower of Babilu, where magic is researched and written about. I myself am a member. Any serious sorcerer affiliated with the Conclave should consider it."

Re: RP PUBLIC V10T: The Markets of Nicodemus

Ruse raises an eyebrow in curiosity, but decides to stop shopping for now, since his purse is empty. He nods at the shop keeper and thanks him for his time, and reminds him that money will be wired to him automatically.

Instead, Ruse goes off to do something important. Seemingly minor to everyone else, but important to him.

Ruse goes and finds a park, or some other secluded serene area where he can just meditate for a while. He streams over to such a spot, and when - and if - he finds something like that, he sits down and holes himself up so to speak, losing himself in thought.

SUIT has encountered an intelligence error, but can access the Conclave and Earthborn information vaults in an attempt to fix this error. Confirm/deny?

Ruse sits for a long time in meditation, but nothing of any note occurs. He knows that the Ring is sentient - maddeningly, he can sense it's intelligence and personality beneath the cold outer shell - but can't seem to access it.

Desafon

The Bounty Services office had several administrators working, and one approached Desafon, knowing glint in her eye.

"New here, huh?" she asked.

COMMAND: Yes, SUIT go ahead and cross-reference the information vaults. I am a low lord as well as a secretary of Roid so I should be able to get at least something useful.

Ruse tries to send a greeting to the ring with mind magic. Not telepathy, but mind magic. It's just a greeting - no strings attached or anything. He knows that the ring knows that it is under Ruse's stewardship right now, and also that the ring knows that he and roid are allies too. However, it's just being so awkwardly silent.

Nodding to the lady in the Bounty office, Desafon seems to smile. "Yes, indeed I am. Finding myself in a predicament where I am unable to attain money of any form in my realm at this moment and in a need to attain said wealth, I had stumbled upon this location. I'm Desafon, God of Piracy and Duels and I wonder what it is that is needed to make money here."

COMMAND: Yes, create a file called SYSTEMARCH ATTAINMENTS. Within it, create three sub-files: CASHMATHAR, SAVERNASURAM, LIKTOBOREA, and ANVILDAMADRUM. Create other sub-files for other attainments as they are discovered. Input all information that we have gathered about each so far into the relevant files, although please censor all information about CASHMATHAR's abilities. Then, I want an encrpytion lock on the SYSTEMARCH ATTAINMENTS file, with only myself gaining free access. Lock all others out, unless they are my heir or a god transfused by me.

Ruse meditated some more, and responded mentally after the presence greeted him.

Are you Cashmathar? If so, I greet you.

Re: RP PUBLIC V10T: The Markets of Nicodemus

((Oops I meant four files not three...but you went with it anyway so thanks for that))

When the mental defenses were bypassed, Ruse's face perked up for a bit, like as if someone with really cold hands was checking him for colon cancer.

Thankfully, after a moment the unsettling feeling subsided. He wasn't trying to keep Cashmathar out. If anything, he needed to facilitate conversatoin as best as he could. He knew that the ring knew that it temporarily belonged to Ruse, especially since it didn't kill him when he put it on, but he didn't really know much else about it beyond Roid's minor run-down.

Yes Cashmathar, I am Ruse. And I also am an ally to your creator, Roid. You're inside my defenses now so there's no use trying to hide it anymore, so I'll tell you everything. I have my own side-agenda - some selfish and some selfless - but I do sincerely wish blessings upon Roid and especially upon the tree of life, our ladyship Yggdrasil. And as far as you and I are concerned, that is what counts.

Roid gave you to me as a sign of his trust, although I do consider myself as merely borrowing you. Perhaps one day he'll let me keep you permanently, although as an attainment I would understand if he chose not to. However, the world is a harsh place - my own machinations and manipulations are grains of sand compared to dangers like Osiria-Ra and the Mad gods who are running around, and the destructive malice they bring with them. I am currently trying to work against several threats, further my own agenda, as well as support Roid. It's a delicate juggling act but one that I've grown quite accustomed to.

So enough about me...please, do tell me about yourself.
