Read over most of that game yesterday, seems pretty interesting. Been thinking about getting back into this site. I've never been able to get rid of the internal narration this place instilled in me.

I know right! I got a souped up PC and skyrim (in korea right now, hopefully shipped soon) but low and behind here I am. I think skyrim is just people WANTING to do this.

There is something about the freedom and creativity of txt that makes it more special than those games. It's like a Mod can be installed with just a WORD!

I look forward to the day when video games afford as much freedom as text does.

On an unrelated note, just checked my old external hard drive, found all of the old files I saved, including the info from Rebirth, the Theo with the towers, and all of my character sheets. Hell yeah.

I'm doing great, thanks, guys. Have way too many projects going on at the moment - writing a horror indie film that a group of guys want to film over in Perth come 2013, a whole heap of short stories and a few RPGs - and I'm thinking of saving all my dosh and popping by the US next year for GenCon. All of you stop dicking around and apply to Anik's game. It should be plain truth right now that he's the best GM Theogenesis has ever had. Reading over the rules, I can't commit to the game myself - I'm a ridiculously shit player - but it looks fantastic. That man's the kind of GM who'll cradle you to sleep when you're happy and kick you in the balls when you're sad, and that's awesome.

... aaaand I just realized I have yet to run a serious Theogenesis, for any length of time. If I'm to compete with Anik, I'll need to make and run one. He's certainly contributed far more to Theogenesis than me, but hey, going forward..

I'm going to call it Theogenesis: Ash, for the following reasons (no one cares, but I'm No One, so..)

- In the Skaldic sagas, Yggdrasil is a an ash tree.

- It goes along with the theme of Dust and Rust, and since it derives a great deal of spirit from those two games, that's important.

- Ashes in the Fall by Rage Against The Machine.

It may be entirely populated by crazed god-merits.

You and me were the judges ultimately, if I recall. Chalybis was the 3rd but I recall you and I doing most of the work. So unless you're saying you and I hated Anik or something I don't think bias played into it since we used a point system for scoring if I recall? And I believe Anik was very highly ranked too.

As for me? I'm not making a lot of money but am glad to not be unemployed anymore. The economy is tough over here and the job market it tight. I did, however, just buy my first house like a week or 2 ago though and am working with my parents to help fix it up and make it livable. It's in pretty good condition just has a few tweaks like cleaning and putting in a couple doors and some annoying stuff like that.

How about you? How are you Nat? You still with your girlfriend? What are you doing for work? Are you going to school or have completed school? Got any kids, lord help us all?

EDIT: Just looked and Anik was 4th place max was 3rd so they were neck to neck. So it's not like either of them totally owned the other. Hirsu (the oracle) was the contest winner.

I think Crailek totally won Theogenesis. Not in any traditional sense, but like... I'm pretty sure he came back to life enough times that there are at least 3 instances of him in existence at any point in time, which has to count for something. Kind of.

And I'm a poor failure, fuck you all.

Kidding. I do live in the worst damn place to get a job, and can't afford to move elsewhere or go to college though. Working on that.

I'll work on emailing all the things, but they are a mix of .txt and like.. openoffice or some shit. Will see if my computer is being nice about it today.

Also, I want to apply to Anik's game, but creating a character is always the hardest part.

Anybody remember the name of that god? I think his name was Purja, but I'm not sure.

I was in AmeriCorps, not PeaceCorps. It's a subtle but major difference and many people don't know about AmeriCorps. But I'm done with that for about 2 years now - I was unemployed a year afterward and have been in my current job for the other year. I am now a Captioning Assistant for CapTel. I caption special phones that the hearing imapired use to have conversations like normal people. Words come up on their phones like they do for closed captioned television, and I'm the one who puts those words onto their screens for them, to read.

Also, glad you're going to get a promotion at work, glad you're still witht he same gf, and glad you don't have kids because having a kid would be an incredible strain on money these days for sure.

Great to hear things are going well for you two. Congrats on the promotion, Nat. Keep those indie stores going! The industry is in pretty rough shape up here, hope it's going better on the other side of the world.

Congrats on the house, Ruse. I'm working on collecting enough for a downpayment, but the market is beyond stupid here in Toronto. We'd like to stay in the city if we can, but most semi-detached places here are going for 400-500k, unless it used to be a grow-op. The detached homes are 1 mil or more. Just unbelievable.

And yeah, looks like they finally deleted my entry for the contest. Good times. I agree that pretty much everyone that finished their game was neck and neck, and there were a lot of fun ideas thrown around. Glad to see there's still good people like Anik and Max picking up the pieces and making their own roads with them.
