Not bad! It's a very odd time jump. When I was last posting here I was still a teenager and now am 25 years old.

But I guess my schedule isn't that bad...
In the many years it took Sura to pick up a scepter (see my last post in my realm), I went and completed a bachelors degree. Oh, and what is the scepter exactly? No idea! Why did I want it? No idea!

Well if 6 years have really passed in real life, then I was ~26 ish then.

That would mean I was either in AmeriCorps or out of it and unemployed and sad and depressed. :(

Well now, 6 years later, I am a case manager helping people find employment and meet the work requirement to stay on food stamps until they find enough employment that they are ineligible due to being over-income. I also caption for the deaf and hard of hearing part-time too. It's been a long road I suppose, but forward movement has been made ultimately. Finally.

Well, I still run games on RPOL, so. Ruse even plays in them sometimes.

Personally, I think it might be a cool idea to start dust again . . from ground zero, plus some cool stuff.

Since we've all forgotten pretty much everything.

Like, New Game+ type deal. I dunno.

I think Nat would be much better able to keep up with the handful of us still around instead of the something like 15 players we had going.

Holy crap, do you know how many different projects I was working on. Mythcrafting like crazy, opening a workshop, working with something called a Logos, planning to kill the first Crailek (NPC one not PC), supplying non-magical Thorium-nuclear batteries to the conclave for their tower defenses and auto-mechs (non magical in-case the flux starts to fuck magic up). I gave Pitcarn a very powerful weapon, and I might have given Fierce Deity a shield of some sort I thin.

All the while my first character who I NPC'd called Tyche was upping his psionics trying to balance the inter-realm criminal syndicates in his world while the conclave hunted him down... (As him I accidentally destroyed half your realm I believe, but as an NPC he killed Chally by teleporting a LOT of explosives inside him which was 100% in-character with him, that betraying bastard).

In all. Yes, dust was Nat's Masterpiece.

So while I wake up in my realm in some place I remember not, and Sura is picking up a Septer... Hirsu has been having sex for the last 6 year straight!! Way to go you stud you!

I also motion that all of Ruse manifestation must also be bald and hairless. While equipment CAN be optional on various selves. I believe when I was damaged as Tyche that was NOT optional and did transfer from one self to the others after some time.

Ruse did not damage himself though. In a sense, he utilized his mist form in a way that affects only his present manifestation. So no, I'm not letting him go hairless in all forms. But nice try, guys.

I was skimming things, and I believe Tyche blew a huge part of Ruse's realm by drawing down the void for a bit or some other thing where his chance power went awry. Some of Ruse's people and his demigod formed an entire religious order that focused on hunting tyche down and getting revenge. Ruse devised a powerful shamanism ritual that required a specially prepared altar at a special site - which he made before the urge got loose thankfully so the thing remained intact - and he somwehow (I can't remember) tricked or otherwise drew Tyche to him and was going to trick him and lead him off to slaughter him on the altar. Except then Sura arrived in the realm and started attacking. Ruse had to put the kill-tyche thing on hold, and actually made a deal with tyche to spare his life in exchange for service and his pledge to help restore the realm and a bit of blood (a deal Ruse actually was honoring by the way). Ruse then went after Sura, and after a bit of sorcery-chess where they kept using chane and order magic and such to make fates to fuck with each other, Ruse finally arrivedm easily pierced Sura's illusions of his true location, and was beginning to bore into his hiding place to kill him when Sura (wisely) portaled out back to his realm before Ruse could kill him. But before he left he leveled another fate, but this time it wasn't against Ruse but against Tyche. This caused Tyche's chance powers to start acting up again, and I believe it either caused or catalyzed the spirit of nadhoggr trying to manifest into Ruse's realm, which would have been even more catastrophic than what Tyche did.

Ruse worked with some people from Babilu and unwove Sura's fates, while Ruse tried to have his realm vent out the excess naghoggr enery into the void. He couldn't - it was too much even for the realm. Tyche figured out what was going on, and used his chance powers to sacrifice himself in exchange for banishing the cosmic nadhoggr energy. He left behind a vial of his blood on the ground for Ruse's realm-energizing ritual too.

While Ruse and his realm and people went through quite the roller coaster, there were some good end results. When nadhoggr was banished, some excess cosmic energy bled into the realm as the mists started to about triple in thickness. Ruse believes that whole thing energized the ley lines and such. And on top of that, he was able to do the shamanism ritual to restore the damaged spirit of his realm and possibly energize it to a point that was even better than before tyche blew part of it up (the ritual and the naghogger bleedoff together in tandem probably had a positive synergistic effect on the realm). The spirits weren't responding when ruse tried to call them via magic (his magic is bonkers right now due to the urge and magi-cancer and such), but the altar itself was ready to go from earlier and he used his forsaken power to make the spirits and ritual commence even without magic, which awed both the spirits and his people when they realized what he pulled off.

So what happened with tyche ultimately was a tragedy and I don't think he meant to be bad or anything. But he must have realized that while pissed, Ruse was giving him a second chance and was honoring it so chose to sacrifice himself to stop the nadhoggr manifestation.

I what?!?! Damn. I didn't even see that thread last night. That must be one detailed map. Go me? Where's the Gatorade?

Congrats on both counts Pitcarn! Here's wishing you much happiness.

Let's see, in the last 6 years, I got married, got a full time job, bought a house, then a car, and now we're expecting.


Edit: For the record, I'd second the New Game+ idea. But I don't have that much to lose, nor did I have hundreds of plots on the go.

Yeah...the theogenesis community has collectively aged, LOL!

As an aside, I just made up a new game, Theogenesis: Dreamcatcher. It is quite possibly the simplest Theo ever. Everything needed to make a character is done. The game focuses on normal Theo stuff but has monsters - fighting them, capturing them, creating them, fusing with them, collecting their souls for magic - as the major route to power.

Still not sure what to do about Dust. I'm not convinced bringing it back is the best idea (for my sanity). I may continue to work on my Kung Foo City game idea. When it's done, you're all invited to join me :)

It is honestly probably a better idea to let sleeping dogs lie in this case. :)

Pitcarn also presented a pretty compelling case for a "Dust +New Game" which I thought was amusing, though.

Over the years, we've really gone on and extrapolated what we believed would happen if this game continued, and did so to the point it has even influenced the canon and creation of other theo games.

I'd almost hate for things to continue, only to turn out totally differently.

Plus, there's SOOOOO much to remember with the game and it's been years now. Part of it's charm at this point is that it's a scar and such.
