Re: Waiting

I understand the want for something authentic, but some of the swords they have at renfairs are super duper sharp and super duper expensive. I just want something "ornamental". I mean, I'm not going to use the sword except for in costume. It probably won't even get hung up on a wall.

However, some nice swords, such as the ones you're talking about, I can understand. Just I don't need it. :)

Re: Waiting

Hi all,

DM Mike has asked me or did I volunteered to run Moonsea for the time being.  He has been running as many as five regions at one time.  Plus his teaching load this fall seems to be larger than normal, so to give him a break, I offered to help out.

We do not have an update on DM Bast.  If and when she comes back (I think Bast is a she) the region will go back to her.

Ashes is in the other region I run here (Savage Frontier - Poor Ashes, where is his sackcloth?)

Give me a couple of more days to get up to speed and we will take off where you left off.  Just got to go over your completed combat and look at the PC sheets, so I can get a handle on the party.

Any requests?  I do have some first edition weapons, I just can not rid off :)

Thanks,

Scout

Re: Waiting

DM Scout,

Thanks for taking over to keep things moving along.  I do have one request, if it's not too much trouble.  Although DM Mike has supplemented our numbers with a couple of NPCs for this first adventure, I think that in the long run we do need an additional support-type character like a bard or other arcane caster (we lost our bard, and eventually one of the three fighters, after DM Bast had to leave - also, I am not sure what Ashes' track will be).  We are pretty combat heavy already, but a ranger or monk might fit as well, if Ashes is planning a more spellcaster-intensive route (Ashes? any comments?).

Thanks again!

Re: Waiting

Good to have you on board DM Scout. I hope you'll live up to the high standards set by our two previous DM's.

I agree on Brin's suggestion, and might add that I hope this will be a fastmoving yet elaborate and well played campagne :)

Re: Waiting

I am glad you are speaking to me, when I took over Savage Frontier, they all waited 3 days to talk to me.  Seems like they know how to yank someone's chain and give the DM a complex of some sort  :)

I usually check and post about twice a day, depending on the action and the rate that the party is posting.

Of course we all go out of town every now and then, so just drop everyone a line in here when you are gone, so we will not hold up the game.

As far as additional party members, I like to have about six, maybe seven active members.  However, the party does need balance, with respect to combat, clerical and mage magics.  Makes life a little easlier for the DM when dreaming up encounters :)

I like to run NPCs as color and points to provide the party with info. But you have to determine is he sane or insane.

Ashes we will let you start by cracking all the peanuts in the next phase of taverns.

Re: Waiting

Hi guys,

Thanks for playing, and if I had more time and energy, I'd love to keep running this region.  You're a great group, and I (and now Scout) have some great (and spooky) things in store for the Moonsea region.

One of the first Forgotten Realms novels I read was Pool of Radiance and I liked Phlan and Sokol Keep, so it was fun to add my 2 coppers in on the region.

I love undead, so they were a natural to toss at you, too.

And my favorite FR novel series is the Azure Bonds trilogy, so I was glad to use Alias and Olive (but not Dragonbait in the end) with the party.

Good luck, all, and I KNOW Scout will do a terrific job here, as he has over in Savage Frontier.

Re: Waiting

Hi all,

It looks like we have four active players.  I am going to advertise for 2 more players to round out the party (maybe three depends on response).

A Mage and/or Healer

Bard

Ranger

Comments or Advice, this is your party also.

PS, DM Mike beat me to the post on this, but without the ranger.  Let me know, will have him revise as necessary.

Re: Waiting

Ranger and Bard seem good to me.  We may have a little overlap with an arcane caster if Ashes' concentrates on his sorcerous studies.  Brin is quite content to fill the party healer role if needed, but if we acquire a cleric, he can shift into a more "rangery" mode (by taking Track, etc.) if no actual ranger comes forth.

Overall, however, I would welcome anyone who can work well with a peace-goddess worshipping water gensai druid who barely contains suppressed rage at injustice and abominations of nature, a wise-cracking sorcerous rogue with a libidinous rat familiar, a tumbling barbarian with a sensitive stomach, and an honorable warrior who just wanted to help out in any way he could (I'll let you guys figure out who's who!  ;-)  ).
