Somebody must have been talking about me while I was gone and Hurricane Jeanne heard about it.  They ran us off the island we were on in Fl yesterday.  So thanks whoever did that.  :)

Travel

Hi All,

I need to poll the party on some Moonsea Region Background.

As I study the region, it seems that the main mode of travel is by boat or ship from town/city to town/city.  The towns and cities are fortified for protection from the evil from the north.  The main trails used by the goods are to fortified settlements ringing the port towns/cities.  The other trails are under the control of the evils.  As a result most if not all travel and trade is by ship.

Is this how you see this?

I would like to know the perception of the party on this matter, as it would help me with the next round of adventures available.

Thanks,

Scout

Re: Travel

That is how it seems to me, and in fact, Brin travelled to Phlan by ship.  Of course, he has no problem with water/sea-based adventures. It would seem to me that the water routes would be prime pickings for pirates, unless the cities of the region have regular naval patrols.

Just my ramblings...

Re: Travel

In the setting it specifically says that "Most traffic within the region goes by ship since roads and good trails between the area's city-states are almost non-existent."

This is due to the fear of the enemy from the north, but probably as much to the fact that the cities are indeopendant states in a constant state of distrust and enemity. Also "there is no such thing as a safe campsite."

Phlan in particular seems to be a city that is quite a crossroad for much of the shipping, mainly because of it's location at the mouth of the Stojanow river, so a naval adventure would fit right in.

Korgan came to Moonsea on a ship (as a slave) and first touched land (after escaping) in the wild, but quickly made it to Phlan.

XP from Thread with no purpose

DM Scout,

Supposedly, those who posted in the thread with no purpose, have been awarded 1000 xp to distribute as we wish.  Is this really true? and if so, do you mind if I give Brin some xp?

(p.s. I will have to try your blackend fish recepie!)

Re: XP from Thread with no purpose

If you posted, then you have the 1000 xp.  Use them as you wish.  I plan to do the same with my characters.

Its not my recipe, just one that I use.  I hope it works out.  :)

New members

Hi all,

It looks like we have two new members wanting to join the party.  One is a ranger and the other is a wizard.  This would bring the party up to six people.

I will have them join at a decent time after the current combat/adventure, hopefully within the next week or ten days.

Re: New members

I believe there is a question right now about starting character levels and such Korgan.  I believe much of the xp is just being handed out on a lark and due to number of characters people have it is being fairly diluted. but it may also serve the purpose of adding a little xp to characters that are not growing as quickly because their games are not progressing as quickly.

My two cents based on my DM experience here.  I DM the North in ROA2 so thats how I see it.  But sometimes it is a bit wacky why they post the xp hehe.

Re: New members

OK

In my opinion they could just let people increase their lvl or give them say 5k exp like that
