The Cold Lands: Taverns

The Drunken Giant, an aptly named tavern.  It claimed to have every form of alcohol available in Vaasa, but how much of that was truth is anyone's guess.  They had a wider selection than the other taverns, that much was certain, but they did not have the more exotic drinks.  Most of the dwarven meads and ales were available for sale, and even some of the human spirits, but some of the more noteworthy drinks, including the infamous Rashemi Firewine and all of the elven wines [even the famed Elverquisst], were missing.

But overall, it was not a bad tavern to stop by.  It had a small selection of meals, from stew to actual steak, and the dwarves were sure to know what they were doing and they ensured that the meat was fully natural, with no magic in their blood.

For the moment, the tavern was a bit full, but there were still a few empty tables and seats.  They seemed to almost welcome the weary adventurers to them, asking them to take a load off their feet and fill their stomachs with food and ale.  But it could be nothing more than their weary minds playing tricks on them.

But the group had dwindled down to just a few.  The two dwarven guides had returned home to be with their families, just for a night, and the others had left.  Now only three remained.  Mundin, Thamol, and Quansil remained of the original group, with the newer dwarven priest Depiron determined to find his kin.

OOC: Feel free to come on in and order a meal or drink, talk among yourself, etc.  I'll be back tomorrow to add a bit more information and stuff to react to.

Re: The Cold Lands: Taverns

Thamol is not at home in inn.  He would prefer to be in the barn where he left his horse and ruff.  As usual he had problems with locals excepting the wolf is friendly.  Thamol has decided to join other two as this all that left of group.  He not said anything as not sure what to day in this place.  He also does not seem interested in drinks but ask for water.

Re: The Cold Lands: Taverns

The young dwarf maiden giggles for some reason as the elf orders water, nothing more, and returns a few minutes later with a glass of the cold liquid.  She goes off to serve more of the patrons of the tavern, and had to stand above one of the more unruly humans, who goes on and on about the dirty scum that had stolen his crops.  For the moment, there was a light inkling of laughter as the drunk attempted to order one more drink from the dwarf maid.  As she left to fill her orders, the human made a mistake that dropped the humorous air about his fictitious crops as he mumbled the words, "Damn dwarves, never get it right.  I bet their women can't even tell where the bed is, can they?  Am I right?  Of course I am."  The laughter and general good humor of the tavern dropped at that remark.  A small majority of the patrons - and all of the help - were dwarves.  "Of course, first you'd have to find some of their women, right?  Of course you do."  For the moment, his laughter was alone.  There was not another sound.  Probably because no one could actually believe he said what he did, but it probably wouldn't last long before some people got extremely angry.

OOC: Any and all PCs can assume they heard the drunk, whether they were outside or (most likely) inside.

Re: The Cold Lands: Taverns

Slowly, a caravan came to a halt before the Drunken Giant, and two figures in the front wagon dismounted before the tavern.

"Ah'm sorry lad, but this is as fah' as I'll be go'in," spoke one, who was a dwarf.

The other, probably a human or half-elf given the height, but dressed in volumes robes with the hood drawn up against the cold, replied, "Master Dwarf, please- you've been more than charitable in this matter. I wouldn't ask you for more. I'm sure I can make my way from here."

The dwarf, in turn, looked thoughtful, and perhaps a bit distressed. "Aye... Well, in thah' case, I'll be come'in back in ere' spring, if you need a ride. I do'n suppose I can convince ye- ?"

"I'm afraid not."

"Aye. Well, best o' luck to you. You might yet need it."

"Doubtless." The robed figure bowed, a motion which the dwarf was awkward in returning, and the two parted the dwarf to his caravan, the figure to the warmth of the tavern.

Inside, the candle-light further illuminates the person, whose robes are black and trimmed in gold in the design of gear-teeth. Now protected from the elements, the hood is withdrawn, to reveal the head of a human man, with the features and complexion of a Mulan, including dark blue eyes and long black hair, done into a plait. There are a few gold rings in his ears, but he is otherwise undecorated.

First he approaches a server. "Some hot vegetable soup, and if you have it, a warm drink. Inform the proprietor that I need lodgings for the night." His business concluded, he sat himself across from Thamol.

"Do forgive the intrusion," said the Mulan fellow with a reassuring smile, "But you looked like you could use the company. I know I could. Ah, but where are my manners? My name is Tokei Kikei, Kikei if you will."

He was slightly distracted though, buy the off-colour jokes of one of his fellow patrons. "Hmmm... Excuse me one moment- I think this needs to be taken care of before it's blown out of proportion."

He removed himself from his seat, and approached the drunken joker. "Sir?" he addressed the man, "Sir, you look a little ill. Do you feel fine?"
