Sister Aria:
And don't worry, Vornyl, I have more than enough Craft and Repair to take care of all your upgrade and repair needs (+14 / +18 respectively)

That's good to know! ;)

Although I suppose that raises the question of XP costs for upgrades performed, does it cost XP for a Mechanist to user her Upgrade class ability on a soulmech (I see that they can be used on robots)?

As for Vorneyl, I'm probably looking at Monk-7 | Ranger-3/Fighter-2/Gundancer-2

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Hmmm, keen edge (psionic) can be used on other folks weapons correct? I just wonder how it basically works or looks visually. Anycase usually when it comes crafting for someone else most GM's rule the guy who commissioned the work pays the XP.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

"Soulmechs can also upgrade their robotic bodies.
However, it takes some effort and experience for the
soulmech to learn to use upgraded components, and this
is represented by an XP cost. A soulmech must pay 1/10
of an upgrade’s market price in XP. For rules, costs, and
available equipment, see page 118."

I would definately recommend a datalink so you can link up to a computor and your guns and stuff. And we all should have at least goggles or something so we can communicate through a heads up display.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

A new rework for characters.

Humans or Templated Humans:  Choose one ability score, add two points to this.

Soulmechs:  Take your previous race's stat modifiers, and add your soulmech stat modifiers together.  Ignore any stat penalties.  Also, you are no longer constrained by a robotic design in your physical ability scores, of course you still lack a con score.

Jouhan:  Remove your stat penalty, you gain two points to put into one mental stat.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

I can't remember... are we using Synergy Bonuses from the PHB 3.5 (ie +2 bonus to one skill for having a related skill at 5+ ranks)?

Also Aria, where is the cost & description of the datalink written up (is it in the Starfarer's Handbook or another DS sourcebook)?

I'm guessing it's in Imperial Supply, but I don't have the book handy to look at the moment.

Oh, nice!
[Private to GM: Placed it for Int. Not related to Wis based powers of psi-warrior but I plan pick mostly self-boosting powers or powers with no saves anyway. Also one level later I get boost for both Wis and Dex next so I get extra power points from increased modifier. Also got bunch extra skill points which came handy and increased my knowlegde skill rolls.]

Re: OOC:  Chat.

So Vorneyl has undergone some revision.  He is now: Scout-7 | Fighter-6/Gundancer-1.  I'll be continuing with Scout on one side and Gundancer on the other side.  This has given Vorneyl "rogue-like" abilities with more skill points and trapfinding but he's lost his monk-like melee abilities (then again, I see Vorneyl as primarily a pistol gunfighter).

Re: OOC:  Chat.

On a different note, how much did each team member get individually for this last job?  Also I assume we would have a chance to go "shopping" for new items (in particular I'm thinking about picking up some magic armor for Vorneyl if possible)?

Ahh right... for a moment I couldn't remember is that was for each member or the team as a whole.  Sorry about the confusion.

So can we go on a bit of a "shopping spree" then?

Also if we want to sell old gear (to be replaced by new gear), at what price can we sell it?  For instance I'll probably want to pick up a more powerful magic blaster, so how much could I get for my current +1 Magic Blaster Pistol (or do you not bother with "depreciation")?

Another question, do the rules in the DMG for "special materials" affect modern DS equipment?  In particular I'm wondering about stuff like Mithral and its possible uses in modern/advanced DS armor (I'm looking for a way to raise the max Dex bonus allowed by the armor).

Hey guys, just dropping in to say Hi.

Haven't really set my primary class down yet, but I am thinking Paladin of Freedom // Martial Rogue, two laser fighting should be fun.

Anyways, this game looks like it pretty fun, but did you guys need some specialization in some area?

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Welcome Kalic.  Having revised Vorneyl somewhat, he now has some roguish like characteristics from his Scout levels.  Vorneyl is also a pistol user (though he focuses on Blaster Pistols instead of Laser).

I suppose the divine magic element of your Paladin could prove useful to the other characters as I don't believe we have any Divine Magic in play at the moment (although I'm not sure it can benefit Vorneyl as he's a Soulmech).

When you say Paladin of Freedom, will he be formally in one of the Paladin Orders serving the Father, the Judge, the Mother, or the Warrior (Unification Church)... or perhaps the Creator (Dualist Church)?  I believe the Paladin Order serving the Father is called SOLAR.

As a Rogue (with Sneak Attack dependent often times on flanking) perhaps Sister Aria might be willing to modifier her Ranger to use the alternate rule/ability for Rangers found in PHB-2 (the Distracting Attack at 4th level that replaces animal companion and allows "ranged flanking attacks")?

Re: OOC:  Chat.

I'm a human mercenary scout pilot type. Between Kalic, Vorneyl and I, we should have the sneaky stuff covered. With Ranger and Mech, I have some nice rogueish stuff. Not so much for picking pockets and stuff, but Aria is great at getting past electronic sensors and stuff.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Sorry, no sneak attacks for me.  I get fighter feats instead.  I was thinking being a paladin of the Mother, since she ties into the Elves general faith, and that is how I was raised.  I am waiting on the DM to see if I could play a Neutral Good Paladin.  As for skills, I guess a general route would be good.

Sorry about that Vorneyl.

Just go ahead and sell for normal price.  As for special material...look for the elven battlesuit in the Guide to the Galaxy, I think that will work for you.

Cool!  You're absolutely right the Elven Battle Suit is perfect for Vorneyl.  That's what I get for not checking out the Specific Armors.  ;)

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Martial Rogue is in Unearthed Arcana, where I trade my sneak attacks for gaining feats like a fighter.  This will work better with my paladin concept rather than a sneak attack against my foes.

Out of curiosity, we all agree that Dragonstar can be a deadly setting, how would you feel if we double the HPs of everything?  That would prolong some battles, but it would make it more survivable for you guys.

That's cool by me.  With some of those heavy weapons, it only takes a couple of lucky shots to really take a chunk out of someone's HP (including the PCs).
