Re: OOC:  Chat.

Hello all.  I'm going to play a Soulmech (Half-Elf appearance, I picked the best portrait I could to convey the image).

I'll be going Monk all the way on one side.  The other side will be either Fighter or Ranger (or perhaps a mix of both) and then the Gundancer PrC the rest of the way (once I qualify for it).

Vorneyl definitely originates from the Dragon Empire (core worlds perhaps?) and is definitely not a former barbarian or from some backwoods borderworld out on the rim (ie not an Outlander).

He keeps his politics to himself for the most part but seems able to function both inside and outside the strict lines of the law.  He's a bit of a wandering "gunslinger" type who makes ends meet through various jobs: bodyguard, caravan/merchandise guard, occasionally an enforcer for a syndicate (freelance), bounty hunter etc.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Hey, everyone. Just a basic old human here. Ranger/Pilot from a planet that has been producing elite mercenaries since the old Star League.

Very professional, very Lawful Neutral, which should be obvious if you've known her for any length of time.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Vorneyl is also reasonably Lawful Neutral in his own way.  Good and Bad are subjective to him but he generally keeps his word and sticks to the deals he makes.  He doesn't break the law just for kicks but tries to work within the rules.  His soulmech nature does lend itself to a preference for Order over Chaos.

He seems to favor The Judge as a diety, though perhaps with less emphasis on the good side relative to the lawful side.

As a request: It has been awhile since I played a soulmech and I was reviewing their extensive dos/don'ts list.  I was painfully reminded that only the Repair skill and the Repair arcane spells actually work on Soulmechs to regain HP.  I don't know if a Soulmech can use his own Repair skill on himself (patch himself up maybe?) but if others could pick up a bit of Repair (or if we get an Arcane magic user who could pick up a couple of Repair spells) it would be much appreciated.  ;)

Hey there everyone who is here, and those yet to join. Silver Half-Dragon at your service (or you are at mine, depending on how you want to see it). As is, I have 4 levels in both Fighter and Sorcerer.

Regannos is Chaotic Good, and originates from Aelding. Everything else you will have to wait till game start to know :P

Currently in the negotiations for a Mechanist, however, Soulmechs can do self repairs, depending on their damage.

Cool... on both bit of news.  I guess it'll pay off to invest some skill points in Repair then.  ;)

Perhaps Regannos (as a Sorcerer) might invest in a few low level Repair spells as well (or maybe we can find a "Rod of Repair" in our travels).  ;)

The last time I played a Soulmech, I grabbed the Dragonblood Feat and picked up a level of Sorcerer... but that really doesn't fit Vorneyl very well.

Well, I did pick up Repair Minor Damage and Repair Light Damage. So that may help some.

Cool!  That should help to at least take some of the string out.  I know that Sorcerers are limited/restricted in their spell lists and selection, so I appreciate all the help I can get.

Also I know that Half-Dragons have a troublesome ECL to deal with, so it is doubly appreciated.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Well, the GM was nice enough to give me the option of dropping the +8 to strength to +2 to drop the ECL down one level. Really it made sense given the fact that melee combat really doesn't fly in this setting (or at least, not that well).

That's nice.  ;)  I agree that Strength just doesn't have the same impact in a sci-fi game where most people are packing some kind of firearm.  And ECLs in general can be real killers.

Of course the XP cost for Spellware (or in Vorneyl's case Robotic Upgrades) can also cut into one's character level as well.

Vorneyl may be a Monk, but he's mainly a pistols specialist (using the ol' Gun Fu style).  So his focus is much more on Ranged combat as opposed to Melee (though with Improved Unarmed Strike working for feet, knees, elbows etc. it is nice that he'll always be considered "armed" for melee even if his hands are full with firearms).

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Personally I'm going for a slower but more heavy hitting build, my spells are a mixture of support (I picked up See Invisibility and Knock at 2nd level) and offense with Lesser Orb of Cold and eventually Fireball when I can cast 3rd level spells. I also have True Strike and Power Word: Pain for finishing off those nasty runners.

My weapon (possibly) is going to be a Plasma Rifle. Hey, being born Half-Dragon does have its benefits :P.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Is "Aristocorp" a canon DS organization?  If so, what sourcebook is it in?  I'm assuming Regannos isn't concealing his membership (employment?) in the Aristocorp organization.

Based off of Aria's last OOC post, are we going to be serving as members of Ragannos's entourage/retinue?  I'm cool with that if that's the case.  It seems the position of pilot is taken by Aria.  I'm guessing that Vorneyl could serve as a bodyguard (I haven't finished his skills yet, so I'm not sure what he can bring to the table yet besides his combat abilities).

Vorneyl's weapon of choice is probably going to be a pair of Blaster Pistols (with perhaps a Sonic Pistol and/or a Heavy Slugthrower Pistol for backup).  Also it seems that Aria is a more traditional wilderness Ranger while Vorneyl is definitely more the Urban Ranger type.  I'm planning to go Monk-4|Urban Ranger-2/Fighter-2 with an eventual destination of Monk|Gundancer later on.

As for organizations, Vorneyl is something of a loner (not in personality but he "walks the earth" following his own path rather than joining formal organizations).

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Well, how we start is up to the GM, though he did tell me we are starting within the domain of Sarava (this was after I decided to be a silver Half-Dragon mind you.)

Regannos is a member of an Aristocorp, the particular one is one of my own creation. It is a privatized military origination, out side of the Imperial Legion or the Imperial Police. It is called Daguam di Thrae vur Xarzith or in common, Shield of Air and Ice. I suppose it is a possibility, but given we don't know how the game will start and we don't have all our players, its hard to say.

Also, the definition for 'Aristocorp' is in the Guide to the Galaxy Source book, on page 29.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

House Sarava was chosen before the game began, due to certain things in the game that shall remain nameless at the moment.

Reg just chose a good House to align with.

I don't know how the Mechanist is going to turn out, so I may just DM fluff an engineer to help you guys if you need it.

Currently though, I do have another applicant, and he has expressed interest as a melee combatant.  Working with him on that, but I think it will work out well for the group.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

Yeh I guess I won the lottery there as far as house choice. 1/10 chance :P

Anyways, most of my starting credits are taken up by by Plasma Rifle, the thing is damned expensive, but its awesomeness compensates for that ^^.

Though I guess being the possible bank roller for the group is not the worst thing I could be :P.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

And our final player, Jouhan Calader, has been added (Unless I really like the Mechanist person, but...his replies...)

With that, character creation is going, and hopefully will be done in the next few days.

This does give you a chance to figure out how you wish to operate together (saves time later for the action)

Re: OOC:  Chat.

I got all my skills and feats and stuff. Just wondering how much I would need aircraft and starship piloting. Will be a few levels before I get another feat, so I'll make sure I have them if I need them.

Oh, and I'm a level 1 Mechanist with Gearhead Feat, so I'm really good at repair (+13), so we should have that covered for you, Vorneyl.

Re: OOC:  Chat.

I'm almost set up as well. I picked up a Security Scanner, though expensive, it comes in handy as far as politics and security. Aside from general stuff, Datapad, etc. I also grabbed 20 Heavy Cells. Overkill...maybe. But I won't have to worry about runnng out of ammo for a bit.
