"Roger roger," Q7 replies.  Whether this is meant sarcastically or not is difficult to tell given the droid's new, inflectionless voice.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
The Sun Tracker and Jai'galaar lift off smoothly, the labor droids opening the hangar doors to let them out as they hover off on repulsors.

The Kaadu seems to be doing fine, it even lifts smoothly and effortlessly on its repulsors (not true of the last time the poor old thing tried to fly).

OOC: Haskel: 'Nother piloting roll, por favor.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
Once clear of the hangar; and after making sure the other ships aren't in the way; Garret will throttle up the engines as smoothly as he can and head for orbit.

"10-4 Tracker. You told my ship how to get there right?"

OOC:
15:50, Today: Garret Haskel rolled 3 using 1d6 with rolls of 3. wild die.
15:50, Today: Garret Haskel rolled 10 using 4d6 with rolls of 6,1,2,1. fly to orbit-space transport.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
For his first outing as a pilot, Haskel isn't doing too badly.  The Kaadu trundles along after the other two ships, unsteady but staying roughly on course.

Almost immediately, Chatterbox chimes in over the shared channel between the three ships.  "Umm, hey guys?" he says, uncertainly, "I'm getting a call from the tower at the spaceport.  They're ordering us to land at port, file a flight plan, and submit to inspection before we leave."

OOC: No astronavigation data has been run yet.  Bulyip, you want to crunch the numbers or should I have a droid do it?

"CBox, upload the co-ordinates to all ships now.  Encrypted channel Bravo.
Let's keep radio silence from now on, eh?"

Metzz scans the planetary defence frequencies for chatter.

21:01, Today: Metzz rolled 32 using 8d6 with rolls of 1,6,4,5,1,5,5,5. Comms.  Grrrr.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
With yet again surprising ease, the little Aleena punches in the coordinate data into the shiny new navicomp.  In short order, the machine returns the astronav data and Chatterbox sends it to the other two ships.

"Uh, guys, the tower's still calling.  Now they're demanding we reply.  Wow, he's really mad!  Talking a mile a minute...  Something about illegal departure....  Calling the authorities to force a landing if we don't comply...  suspicion of terrorist collusion..."

The droid brain doesn't have a face, but if he did, his expression would be obvious as he deadpans, "Gee, I wonder how they would ever suspect us of harboring dangerous terrorists on board...?"

"So, umm, are one of you organic types going to make a decision as to what we do or should I call the Captain on the hyperwave for his orders?"

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
Harry listened to the chatter from his perch safely away from any flight controls and said nothing. So long as he didn't have to fly, he really didn't care if they were getting shot at, though he did wonder how pissed Roice would be if they got the ship beat to poodoo immediatly after having it fully repaired.

A secondary thought occurred to him. Were they leaving splynn at the hospital on purpose?

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
Punching the open com button, Bulyip tries to announce to the tower control. "This is Captain of the <shhrrhrrshhsk>" Bulyip provides his own com static sounds, "We having com difficulties. Attempt calibrations. We fly port, <shhhhrrhsshhhsk> with flightplan. No cargo, inspection okay. Can you confirm transmission get through this time?"

Taking his finger off the com toggle, Bulyip gives a smug little smile, certain that'd convince any port official.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
Chatterbox doesn't say anything, merely patches through the reply from the tower.  "Understood.  Please adjust course to [coordinates] and land on runway 4.  An inspection team will meet your ships."

Bulyip's bluff seems to have cooled off the situation.

10:03, Today: Metzz rolled 8 using 3d6 with rolls of 1,3,4. Sensor Jam.  EHRRR!

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
OOC: As far as that goes, you guys have no idea what the distraction is, where or when it's coming from, or what form it might take.

But hanging out a bit to see what might happen isn't necessarily a bad idea, either.  So, just let me know what you're doing as a group (since you have 3 different ships to manage).

EDIT: Orrrrr, Metzz could order Q7 to make a run for it without consulting the others, leaving everyone in the dust... o_O

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
Q7 pauses only momentarily, not bothering to argue with the Verpine tech.  His orders are to protect the Tracker at all costs as well, just for different reasons.

The droid angles the ship and opens the throttle all the way.  The YV-100 takes off like a shot, exhaust blazing from the four engines as the ship is finally free to fly for the first time in months.

Since Metzz gives this order in a complete vacuum, without consulting or informing the others, Haskel and A'den are left in the proverbial dust as spaceport control begins squawking angrily over the comm.

Seeing the Tracker suddenly fly off at full throttle, Garret pushed his own ship as fast as it could go; trying to at least not fall way behind the other ship.

18:39, Today: Garret Haskel rolled 2 using 1d6 with rolls of 2. pilot wild die 2.
18:38, Today: Garret Haskel rolled 6 using 1d6 with rolls of 6. pilot wild die.
18:38, Today: Garret Haskel rolled 14 using 4d6 with rolls of 6,3,1,4. pilot.

Re: 5: Flying Under the Radar
The three ships take off like mynocks with their tails on fire.  Immediately, a swarm of fighters rise up from the starport and move to intercept.

Sensors and Chatterbox's helpful forecasting indicate that the Tracker and Jai can just outrun the fighters.

The Kaadu, however, isn't going to be so lucky.  Even with its upgrades, it's still ponderously slow compared to the other two ships.

To add to the fun, Chatterbox reports that long-range sensors are picking up patrol cruisers outside the atmosphere, moving to intercept.
