Re: 6: Reunions
Harry grabbed Chomper's chain leash and gave the sand slasher's face a quick wipe with his sleeve before heading for the ramp at a lumbering pace and urging Chomper to follow.

Re: 6: Reunions
Glad to see that it stops moving, there's still a little remorse for the pitiful creature. "Die bad way, poor mynock. Very bad choice come after me."

The Aleena kicks it over with his boot to get it cleared even further out of the way before turning and making his way through the maze of wires. Without the rush to make it this time, he'll not be in a panic to make it through in a flash.

Then he'll look about for Selous, and if he isn't seen, will head back into the ship. If seen, he'll wave and Selous, and yell at him, "All done? We go now?"

Re: 6: Reunions
Bulyip comes clambering out of the engine compartment, much to Q7's relief.  "I swear, if that shot of yours just undid all the work I just went through..." he grouses, but helps the Aleena back down to the ground anyway.

The pair carefully make their way back around the ship, fighting the powerful storm winds (remember those?) and meet Selous doggedly hobbling his way back up the ramp.  He's dragging one leg behind him, obviously unable to put his weight on it, and looks like he's gone a couple of rounds with an annoyed Wookiee.

Re: 6: Reunions
Harry gave a small wave to the duo of repair men as he continued to make his way toward the ramp to board the ship, tugging Chomper along behind. They needed to get off this thing, whatever it was.

Re: 6: Reunions
The ALeena gives a smile at Selous, and a fist pump into the air, assuming that all is well for them again.

Hoping up the ramp, Bulyip hears the intercom of Roice checking for everyone aboard. "We're back on board! Me got rid of Mynock in engine. Bad mynock! Tried eat Bulyip. But all good now, Me an Selous back in ship! Let's get off this thing, whatever it is!" Her rattles off excitedly.

"Yessir," the droid responds, clambering into the co-pilot seat.  "If you don't mind the smell of charbroiled mynock."

The droid flips some switches and checks some readouts, then nods, "On your order, Cap'n."

OOC: Selous and Bulyip, you guys make in on board without further incident.  Selous, I would recommend heading for sickbay...

Re: 6: Reunions
"Everyone watch your step, the wind is still out of control."

He dials the repulsors to clear the surface of the large beast below them, then slowly throttles up the engines.

"Shields, full spread, as soon as we're clear of the, uh, 'ground.'"

OOC: Your only medic left the crew weeks ago. ;)
But, painkillers don't need a diagnostic.

Re: 6: Reunions
Harry, after reaching the med bay, realized there was nobody on the ship to look at the damage for him, so he just grabbed a couple pain killers and popped them in to his mouth.

Re: 6: Reunions
The medication makes Selous' leg less of a "screaming world of agony" and more of a "shouting continent of suffering".  A definite improvement.  But the dislocated joint will require actual medical attention from a certified doctor at some point.

In the meantime, Roice carefully lifts the ship as Q7 toggles the shields.  The big main thrusters sputter to life, then, with a loud, belching roar (Mmm...  Vaporized mynock...) clear all obstructions and settle into normal operation.

All around, mynocks scatter, startled by the noise and motion.

Roice slowly turns the nose back toward the wind and adds a few dozen meters of altitude, then throttles up to clear the floating beast.

Re: 6: Reunions
The Tracker rises slowly, wobbling in the storm winds, but otherwise moving smoothly.  As the ship climbs, the angle makes it impossible to see the creature (or whatever) below, until an especially strong downburst catches the ship and pitches the cockpit forward.

Visible through the clouds and haze is easily half a kilometer of dark, mottled "skin", lightning rod bumps scattered randomly across its surface.  Several are struck by lightning, each immediately set upon by mynocks as soon as the bolts disperse.

The fleeting glimpse passes as the ship levels out, and Roice is once again confronted with the seemingly endless storm.

For now, things seem relatively safe.  The lightning-attracting nature of the creature below seems to be sparing the ship from any further strikes.  And the mynocks--not having been riled by a volley of blaster fire like before--seem content to remain on the back of their giant, floating meal ticket.

"Anyone want to put odds on that thing having giant grabby tentacles on its underside?"

Without the creature in sight, he liberally pushes upwind to give a wide berth, then continues the descent.

"Ten to one in favor of grabby tentacles." Harry muttered as he stumbled his way toward a chair in the lounge before falling in to it and finding a spot where his leg is in the least amount of pain.

Re: 6: Reunions
Bulyip is grinning. Happy to be back on the ship, and for the most part, alive and well enough to keep going, he heads to the cockpit.

Certain he will be needed to act as navigator or co pilot, the Aleena hops back to his seat.

"We should get out of here, try an figure out the source of the signal for distress."

Re: 6: Reunions
Roice steers the ship clear as Bulyip settles in the comm station and Selous tries to find a way to lie down in the lounge that doesn't result in searing pain.

Chomper isn't helping.

As the Tracker flies into the turbulent storm winds, frequent bursts of lightning within the clouds reveal that their previous landing pad isn't the only one of its kind floating amongst the clouds.  A second creature, this time visible in all its bizarreness, comes into view.  Unlike the Beldon that Selous originally drew his comparison from, these creatures are flatter, more like a gigantic, irregular organic disc hovering serenely in tempest.

As predicted by Roice and Selous, there are indeed dangling tentacles beneath the creature, but they seem to just hang passively, waving about in the wind instead of actively moving to snatch objects out of the air.  And, like the creature earlier, lightning bolts play across its upper surface, concentrating on the glowing nodes.

But this isn't a xenobiological field trip.  There's a rescue mission to mount!

OOC: Bulyip, make a MECH roll, please.

"Good!  Starting a sweep--tell me when it peaks!"

Roice makes a sharp left, and then slowly yaws the ship back around to the right, struggling against the wind.

Re: 6: Reunions
The signals are still too distant to separate fully.  The Tracker will need to get closer to the ground to get a firmer sense of where they're being broadcast from.  Unfortunately, that will mean leaving the relative safety of the clouds for the horrendous, torrential tempest racing across the land below.

So, good luck with that!

Re: 6: Reunions
Harry stood and tried to wrestle Chomper in to a chair with a seat belt of some kind before he sat back down to put on his own safety restraints. If they were in for another crash, he wanted to be sure he and his attack lizard got through it with as little injury as possible.

OOC - not sure if that would be an animal handling or a strength check, and also not sure if I still have -1D for being wounded after those pain meds.
