Where the Kattakara birthday party is held.

Rodger looked around, both at the existing decorations, and the children. Hmm. Now where were the adults watching over them?

  The adults were along one wall, where a number of chairs were set up for those who didn't have the endless energy of small children.  Lin said quietly in his ear "The birthday boy isn't here yet, this is a surprise for him.  I will introduce you to the other parents as Clumsy Charlie.  Are you sure you have everything you want?"

"Well," he whispered back, "Do you have any ideas for suitable prizes to hand out, if I conduct any party games? Something appropriate to the birthday boy's personal tastes, maybe."

  Lin nodded, and said "Of course.  You have your bag handy?  I'll take you in the other room and acquire them for you."

He hefted the bag slightly and nodded silently.

  Lin led him into a small room for changing, and sketched a sigil in the air.  His bag suddenly got heavier.  She said "There you go.  Little monster trucks for prizes."

"Ah, good. Thank you."

  Lin smiled, and said "Trust me, those will  be a huge hit here."

"How long do you think I have to set things up before he arrives?" A few truck-based ideas were coming together in Rodger's brain.

  Lin smiled, and said "Go ahead and set up, his mom usually runs late."

The extra preparation that Rodger had in mind proved to be making a balloon sculpture of a monster truck, with enough of the component balloons filled with helium so the whole design floated reasonably above the floor. A few strings anchored it so it wouldn't hit the ceiling.

Beyond that it was typical, putting various props and supplies in easy reach without being at risk of children running off with them where they were. Facepaints behind something else until it was time for that, along with the brushes. Any spots that seemed to need some balloons to liven them up as extra decoration might get some, if the adults present didn't mind.

  The adults were delighted with the idea.  They ALSO had a five foot tall tank of helium they'd rented to do the party, in case he ran low.

(OOC: Any other preparations you would recommend for this before the birthday boy arrives?)

OOC: Not that I can think of off the top of my head.

(OOC: So wait until the kid and his Mom get here?)

  The birthday boy and his mommy arrived, and everyone yelled "Happy birthday!!"
