Lucas nodded, visibly impressed as he continued to keep young Diantha close by as she was still blissfully asleep.

"So how do you know Don and Nora?" he asked.

Fiona shrugged, as well as a little dragon could shrug. "I don't, really. Well, not personnally, anyway. I just live at Meg's place, and she told me about the wedding this morning and that everyone was invited. I didn't want to pass that up."

"Meg is a great gal," Lucas replied. "She certainly lends credence to the phrase of there still being hope for us all. And this little angel too.." he said, gesturing towards Diantha.

Fiona smiled at the child in Lucas's arms, and moved in closer. After a moment, though, she backed away again. If she saw a dragon's face as the first thing when she woke up, that might be a bit scary.

"She's a very understanding child," Lucas said gently. "She's one of a kind, being Don's daughter."

And very wise. Diantha was making sure that Lucas wasn't going ANYWHERE. At least for the duration of the reception.

  Meg poked Lucas with one finger on the shoulder, and told him playfully "I think you've been conquered.  And the new overlady you have has you just where she wants you, in the perfect place for a nap."

"Can't argue with you there, Meg," Lucas said chuckling. "This young lady is quite amazing."

  Meg chuckled, and said "Of course she is.  She's a second generation para."

"She is a unique one, definitely," Lucas said. "Then again, what else could you expect from Don's daughter?"

  Meg laughed, and said "Extraordinary is one word for her.  Another might be amazing.  You realize she's not even a year old, and she's doing psychic surgery to heal those who have been severely wounded in heart and mind?  Ask David, he's MUCH better than he was!"

Lucas nodded at Meg's comment, then looked down at the sleeping little angel he held in his arms. She was so precious, so young, so tender....and yet far beyond her years when it came to her wisdom. The once and future Diantha they had encountered was evidence of that. This little one had to be preserved.

"I promise to protect you to the best of my ability, little one," he said to Diantha as she slept peacefully.

  Meg smiled, and said softly "Don't forget, she's counting on you to be there, 'Uncle Lucas'.  She's already firmly attached to you."

"I suspected that she was, especially now," Lucas told Meg. "I know she was...very close to Helena...and Helena was the same. I'm here for the long haul, Meg. For them...for her...and for you and the rest of our 'family."

  Meg smiled, and said softly "Ozzy's our 'face' for the New Age Defenders, but if you'd like to be a Defender too, we'd be honored to have a Legacy amongst us.  I'm normally second in command, mostly because I'm almost impossible to stop if I really get moving."  She laid her hand gently on his hand, smiling at him.  Clearly, they were all willing to learn from him if he'd let them.

  Meg smiled, and said softly "Ozzy's our 'face' for the New Age Defenders, but if you'd like to be a Defender too, we'd be honored to have a Legacy amongst us.  I'm normally second in command, mostly because I'm almost impossible to stop if I really get moving."  She laid her hand gently on his hand, smiling at him.  Clearly, they were all willing to learn from him if he'd let them.

"There's not much of a Legacy anymore," Lucas replied to Meg. "I've already tried the solo act when I first started out, now I can't really envision myself not being a part of a team. I'd be glad to help you guys out in any way that I can."

  Meg smiled, and said "Don't forget that you're welcome to come and stay with us at the Estate too, Lucas.  Gods KNOW I have plenty of space if you need it."

"I'll consider that Meg...thanks.." Lucas said with a smile. "Though it looks like I'm spoken for in this spot right now," he said, then looking at Diantha.

  Meg laughed, and said "Oh, I think I noticed, Lucas.  She's got you pinned, fair and square!"

Lucas chuckled at that, keeping young Diantha close to him, then briefly glancing at Don and Nora. He smiled, then turned his attention back to the little angel in his arms.

Don and Nora were finishing up their dance and he led her to the buffet where  they both could get some dinner

  At Andy's comments regarding the afterlife, Matt found himself thinking  'God's works are a Child's crude drawing placed upon the refrigerator of what is...  And I find myself wondering where that came from.'

  "You've met more people than I have at least Fiona, though I've been meaning to work on that.  I figure if everyone is that worried about embarrassing photos I'll stick with the stock photo face for now though."  He's quited for another moment, and adds "I'm gonna need some time to ensure any desire for something more active isn't just because I want something to do.  Lives don't deserve to be treated as something to pass the time with."

OOC: The things you miss in a busy holiday week.

Lucas continued to hold the young Diantha close to him, and his thoughts reflected on the young woman from the future...who was also Diantha. It was up to him and the others to ensure that this little angel grew up into the angel that revealed herself to them. No matter his role in this young girl's life, he would do his best to ensure that Diantha remained, and would be well prepared to face the various challenges she would face.

Don and Nora with Don holding two plates sat down at Lucas' table. "Hey Lucas, Thanks for participating again. See Dianthas made you her bed for now. Think you might lend my Dad and Penny a hand with her if your not busy while we're away? I'm sure she'd appreciate it."

"I'm sure that won't be a problem...I can help watch Diantha," Lucas said. "And thanks for having me be a part of this. I'm glad to see you and Nora so happy, and I hope you guys have a great honeymoon."
