Andy's answer was a nice, deep, rippling snarl that had enough bass to make a speaker jealous.

Victoria gestured, and the area around them began to shimmer with a magical light.

"That should keep any innocent bystanders out of the action. Now, let's take the fight to them!"

The Chaos creatures roared, malice in in their intent, selecting their targets. Two were running at Clarissa, three at Victoria, and two others moved to engage Andy, Ozzy, and Excelsior.

Andy shot that purply black lightning at the thing, even as he pounced, almost catlike with his speed and intent, not the least bit hesitant to get right into a knock-down-drag-out battle.

Excelsior's impressive display throttled his Chaos creature, and Clarissa and Ozzy's displays of magic and Asgardian artistry took care of the others. Victoria and Andy dealt with their fill.

Once the combat had completed, the cliffs were once again quiet. Almost eerily so.

Ozzy nodded and said, "Yeah. It seems likely that they were just poking out a few feelers, seeing what kind of response we'd give it if there was a chaos aura hanging around a particular spot for too long. Who knows? There may even be another Chaos being lurking invisibly, listening to us. With the aura in the area, we'd have a hard time detecting that kind of thing. Like trying to find a laser pointer beam during a rave."

"It seems that for the moment, we seem to be rid of their assault. But I wouldn't get too comfortable, as these creatures love attacking when it's least expected."

Re: Cliffs of Weston

His trip here was not entirely direct.  First he had to stop at his apartment and drop off his car.  A few moments to be sure he hadn't been followed, and he was out moving again.  Movements, stamina and speed betrayed the years he had trained to be where he was at now.  How he continued to train to be better prepared for the unknown challenges he would face in the years to come.  Looking to the city skyline, he had to smile.  It reminded him of his city from this far away.  It was cleaner, brighter, but this far away he could almost see it.

A look to the sky and a check around him showed he was at the spot.  The small day pack that was slung over his shoulder is removed.  Opening it, he begins to put on the spelunking gear with the ease that others have with clothes.

Re: Cliffs of Weston

Equipped with the gear he slips a small bandana over his mouth and ties it securely behind his head.  Less for concealment of identity and more to just help protect his mouth.  Pushing a stake into the ground he gives it a few tugs to test the grip before slipping a rope around and through it.  Setting a small low yield lamp to his temple.  Lowering himself into the small cave opening he begins his descent.

"Xing Chao, how old are you, how much of humanity's span have you seen?"

He figured if he was going to have a dragon companion for a bit, he may as well learn about it.  The descent doesn't take him long.  Muscle memory and knowing this route by reflex now kicking in.  It doesn't take long for his feet to touch the bottom of his descent.

His dragon compatriot answered "I am a little under two thousand, and I have seen a great many things.  My kind live pretty much forever, really, but we can be killed.
My older siblings are more experienced, but many of them prefer to stay out of the affairs of man, as Mankind is still rather in it's infancy.  My Mistress is a very wise woman,
and most don't even know she exists, much less her age or title.  If people knew what she did, they would make it infinitely harder.  As it is, she is an enigma in a mystery in rumors to most, but not quite all, who know OF her without knowing her."

Re: Cliffs of Weston

Reaching the bottom he detaches from the wire and starts walking into the small cave.  The slightest hint of light could be seen at the far end.  He walks over to a small area that seems empty and places his hand on the cloaked craft sitting there, opening a small compartment.

"A very familiar story.  Humanity isn't ready to learn a lot of things.  And sometimes we learn faster than we should.  Usually we learn faster than we should."

There was the slight tease of a smile, an honest smile at the edge of his lips.  Like it was the first time in a long time that he legitimately smiled.

"We can be rambunctious scamps.  And sometimes we can teach others a thing or two."

The smile fades as quickly as it was teased as his voice becomes somber with the second sentence.

"I'm glad she takes her job seriously.  As odd as the universe can be, alternate dimensions can be far more damaging.  Tell me more about this daughter of hers, please."

As he speaks he changes.  Pulling on the suit that was in the hidden compartment.  Full body coverage, the fabric is durable and flexible, clearly capable of serving like a sort of body armor.  A full mask is included to cover his face.  Opening the main entrance of the craft he begins a few diagnostics on the systems.  While waiting for that he walks to a small alcove and moves a rock out of the way.  Behind it sits an object wrapped up in sheets.  He takes great care to keep whatever is inside them from being exposed.  He carries it with a mixture of reverence and disgust as he heads back to the craft, placing it in the compartment the suit was in.

The Dragon cocked his head, and said "Miss Megaira is a unique individual.  She is a talented and very gifted individual.  She is one of the original New Age Defenders, she is semi-retired because she has pursued higher education and philanthropic pursuits.  She is posessed of innate powers and of wealth that lets her do as she wishes.  Meg is a very sweet person, until you raise her wrath, and when she is truly angry, she lives up to the truth of a Fury."

Re: Cliffs of Weston

"A fitting name and description, I am sure."

The change in voice came with the mask being secured in place.  A few soft barely audible clicks ensuring that it would remain there.

"Given her mother's apparent lineage I am guessing her father brings the Greek culture into the picture.  And with who her mother is, I would be surprised to learn that her father is mundane."

His head lowers just slightly as he climbs into the craft.  Red text flowing across the HUD for his suit.

"However, I think I have been a bit too rude and pried too much without being introduced to her.  And it would easier to list the systems that are operational between the Osprey and my suit.  Apparently cross dimension transport does not agree well with either."

The hatch on the craft starts to close and he begins a pre-flight check.

"Alfred, put in a call.  Adjust vocal output.  Guess it is time to introduce myself."

A call is put through to Meg.

Re: Cliffs of Weston

"I.. see.  I was suggested by Lin to talk to her daughter Meg about a job.  Sounds like now might be a bad time, though.  Name's Kevin."

Muting his mic briefly, a simple name is spoken.

"Alfred?"

As he speaks there is the soft whine of the engines being pushed into start up early.  His fingers moving quickly as years of training kick in.  Eyes focused on readouts scrolling across his HUD.  Routing power to bypass damaged systems.

It would seem, Sir, that the Osprey is not the only thing with issues.  I show no errors with my connection with local Police Bands and other various communication outlets.

Everything seems quiet.

"Add yourself to the list."

Of course, Sir.

For a brief moment, he allows a smile to spread across his lips.  Memories of a better time even more briefly flow past him as he feels his body sink into the cushion of the seat as the Osprey takes flight.  The cloaking system lagging slightly with the movement causing the vaguest shape in the form of a mirage to be seen.  Cave surface gives way quickly to open sky as he makes a hard bank to send him on a course back to where this evening began for him.
