A court of law, where cases are heard before various judges, ruling on different legal matters.

Leo wasn't in the most comfortable positions at the moment. Being a skilled lawyer brought with him a certain amount of notoriety. Which is why it shocked him when the DA asked him to help prosecute some of the thugs of the man only known as The Builder. That the DA would ask for this type of service was odd, but to also ask Leo....it seemed very peculiar. But..it also enabled Leo to go after thugs when not "dressed for night work."

The day's activities dragged on, with vigorous cross-examination between the thugs' high priced lawyer and Mr. Black. And Mr. Black soon showed that he was a force to be reckoned with, as the outlandish theories of the thugs' defense attorneys were cut down like a lumberjack going through a redwood forest.

They were remanded into custody for the next day of hearings. But Leo knew that he couldn't rest on his laurels. Oh no...he would find more information, but in his own way. And if that meant getting his hands dirty...so be it.

As the proceedings closed, he sighed, knowing it was going to be a long night. And so, going into a discreet section of the streets, he allowed the darkness to overtake him, getting his "working clothes" on.

He was going to get answers...and find the sadistic man known as The Builder.

Leo walked in and walked past the front desk made his way to the east wing towards his office he walked down the hall and opened a door he saw his elderly secretary he smiled and picked up the mail she had on her desk and smiled his award winning smile.

"Good Morning Claire how are you this lovely day hmm." he spoke to he loved her deeply she moved all the way from Easton City with him to come to this town

"Doing very well, Mr. Black," his secretary replied with a warm smile.

"Several documents came in for you. And..you have a hearing to attend at 11:00. Your case with those people who worked for that awful Bertelli character."

Leo smiled and nodded he had remembered bertelli rather well a vile man who he spent weeks doing his best to bring him down. He picked up he documents and made his way to his private office.
"Thank you Claire your an angel i would be lost with out your expertise and ability to tolerate my many difficulties"

"It's my pleasure sir," Claire replied with a smile. "Someone has to make sure you can get from Point A to Point B."

All seemed quiet in Leo's private office.

Leo smiled at her response and it was true he was a brilliant man but when it came to paper work he was bad at staying organized. He new she was the back bone of his job she kept him going when he hit hard times and was their to pat his back during the good times. She taught him more then he ever could of learned in school.

Leo stopped and blinked when he first started to hear something it sent shivers down his spine. He new where this voice came from the voice was not his master it was an alien voice he had never heard before. He gripped his desk and found himself sweating and shivering all over.
"No" he whispered to himself "i will not let that happen i will stop this evil i will crush it and bring forth the light this world needs....." When the voice faded Leo got up and opened his closet and changed his shirts out and sprayed some cologne enough to hide his sweaty odor. He never liked encounters like this it scared the shit out of him.

Claire's voice soon came over the intercom.

"Sir....is everything all right?"

Hearing Claires voice brought him back to reality.
"yes claire everything is alright just reading over the documents and case files that i got seeing who is worth saving." he said in a calm voice with a hint of sweetness to it he cared for her like grandmother like family

"Just remember...you have a hearing to get to soon, Mr. Black. You seemed to be a little distant there for a moment," Claire said over the intercom.

He new he had a hearing and he didnt wanna seem overly early he glanced at his watch to see the time.

" i am aware what was the name of the person they want me to represent?"

"Remember the DA asked you to be the prosecutor for the Bertelli case because the Deputy DA is...um...absent? Today is the closing argument in the hearing against one of their lieutenants, a Rodolfo Mancini. Charges of obstructing justice, assault and battery on a law enforcement official, racketeering, and attempted murder."

He gritted his teeth and really just wanted to throw this man to the dogs and closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"alright alright what time is it?"

"Its 20 minutes till 11...time enough for a Danish and a cup of coffee.." she replied in her cheery demeanor.

Leo sighed and got up and put the papers he needed and other documents into his brief case and left his office and as he walked past he placed $50 on Claires desk.
"get us lunch while i am in the hearing please." he said with a smile hiding masking his hatred for this person who he would rather see burn

he swallowed his pride once more as he did with every hearing he only defended the criminals cause some of them were worth a damn some of them had strayed from the path of the right.

Leo was able to arrive a few minutes before the hearing. Mancini was waiting for him, as well as the District Attorney, the judge, the court clerk, and the bailiff.

Leo saw them and threw on his game face he smiled and shook hands did the pats on the  backs like all of them where his best friends Then he got to Mancini.
"hello and how are we doin today?" he said in a polite manner

"Fine, fine....Just get me outta here and we'll be doin' even better," Mancini replied, unsure of Leo's cheery demeanor.
