Re: OOC The Quarterly

Dealing with major complications in the pregnancy, I'm on total bed rest, and I sleep a lot.  I mean a LOT.  Literally, walking slowly up one flight of stairs just took my breath away.  So Justice and I been pretty distracted with trying to make sure this baby arrives healthy, and I make it through in one piece.

Re: OOC The Quarterly

Due to preexisting health conditions and my age, my obstetrician put me on total bedrest at 29 weeks to prevent me from going into preeclampsia, which can be fatal for mama and baby if it is not caught and handled carefully.  My normal 'day job' is highly stressful, and my blood pressure had gone into the earliest stages of preeclampsia due to it.  I didn't feel good, decided to skip work in favor of going in to the doctor instead (I am automatically a high risk pregnancy due to being a diabetic) and after she triple checked my blood pressure, I spent the night in the hospital.  The next morning my OB told me I was off work until at least 6 weeks postpartum, and we were going with bedrest to try and buy the baby enough time to fully develop.  If I went into full out preeclampsia she would have to take the baby by emergency c-section.  So I have been doing my best to follow doctor's orders and take it easy.  Really easy.  So I pretty much do a lot of sleeping, drinking water, and keeping my feet up to prevent blood clots and edema.  My free advice to the ladies who play, is to get your babies born early, don't wait until you're at almost four decades to do it.  I have been told if I get pregnant again after this, odds are good it will kill me.

Re: OOC The Quarterly

Anything over 37 is considered high risk. When I did my OB internship we'd put mum's over 37 on bed rest at 29 weeks regardless of any initial signs of preeclampsia. I'm glad your OB is being aggressive with your care and please be very careful. **hugs**

Better safe than sorry, Truth. You humans have so many reproductive issues compared to other mammals that one wonders about it. Take care, listen to your vet, and stay alive for both Justice and your litter-to-come.

Re: OOC The Quarterly

I'll be 40 in May, and I'm a type 2 diabetic (have been since I was about 24).  First child was easy as pie and I had no trouble with him.  Ten years (almost eleven) years later, this one is being very difficult, so I plan to get my tubes tied when this one arrives.  I can't risk trying for any mire children after this, even though I admit that I wish I could, because Justice is such a GOOD Daddy to the one I already came with.  My son, at 8, literally thanked me for getting him such a good step-daddy when I brought Justice home.  So I am keeping him and following doctor's orders. :)

Re: OOC The Quarterly

To Truth and Justice:

I'm wishing you guys all the best. I'm sorry that I've been so silent lately. It's been a...very rough stretch of time since the early part of July.

To all the rest of you good players here:

I'd like to reiterate my apology to you as well. Real life has thrown me some good smacks, which blocked my Muse for a good while. But, I believe I've gotten through the rough patches and am willing to jump back into things again. Now, it'll just be a matter of where, but I look forward to RP'ing with players both old and new in the coming days.

I kinda figured you were hit with RL, man. :)
If you like, we can put that RP on hold until writer's block stops hatin' on you, or even come to an agreement on how it turned out via PMs?

PMs are fine, it's been the actual dialogue and what would sound realistic that's been a pain to work out. Getting sick enough that I lost my main college course for the semester hasn't been good, either.
