She nodded, and said softly "I promise, love.  I'm mostly only coming IN so I can play eyes in the back of your head."  He could see Crystal Rose was perched under her hair, peeking behind them as she moved forward, and she added "And if I see something trying to block the exit, I'll head for an exit and let you take care of the mayhem end, love."

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

The Van Of God is probably close enough to the place to be in the thread by now.  "Clarissa says it's coming from the Funeral home, if your sensation of an obvious dark ritual wasn't already specific enough."

Ozzy grinned and said, "Done deal, love. The mayhem end is pretty much my bread and butter, hehe."

He cracked his knuckles as he did so, then looked around, looking for the best way to get down, to where he could feel the bad magic emanating from.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

"Well, that's convenient."  Matt doesn't expect it to hide them as well from the enemy below than it would hide the Holy Avengers from civilians passing by.

'I really hope we don't interrupt a legit wake during this, that would be awkward' Matt thinks to himself.

OOC: If I somehow missed that it was Matt doing the driving, assume a competent parking job.

Brother Joshua, whi had produced two daggers assumably out of nowhere, stepped out of the car. "Let us find the Mages Gysbourne quickly, we must not let these evil mages complete their ritual."

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Sister Janice led the way in through the front door, her Hammer handy.  She looked at the front desk, and said softly "There are no funerals or viewing hours today.  So let us explore and find the Mages Gysbourne, and those who are doing ill.  Check for 'staff only' doors, as the public areas will not be where we want to go."

The Gysbournes soon came across the door to the basement. They can reel the dark power growing and here chanting from downstairs.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Ozzy carefully examined the door, looking to see if there were any wards upon it to keep intruders out, or if they would be so stupid as to think that no one would try to find them. After all, no point in trying to kick the door down if that would just spring some kind of magical trap that got him killed.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Alas, Matt doesn't think to just carve a hole through the floor.  Finding the doorway down, even one hidden, won't take particularly long however, unless it was upstairs or some other 'why would you even do that?' location.

Of course, he could also just go the same way Ozzy did.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

He found a spell laid on the door indeed.  It was designed to kill any living thing that passed through this door who did not have a mage's Mark upon them.  And he didn't have the Mark the spell was looking for.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Ozzy frowned and said, "Oooh. That's nasty. Good thing I checked. Clarissa, honey, I'mma need your help with this, I think. Whoever put this into place was pretty powerful, and it's going to take a lot to dispel it."

He then turned and said, "Unless, of course, the rest of you are cool with me smashing us another way in and bypassing the door."

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Ozzy said, "Let's go the dispel route. It'll be quicker."

With that, Ozzy linked up with Clarissa and started drawing runes on the door, hoping to counter the death magic and make it safe to go through and hopefully interrupt the ritual.

Re: The Dark Cadre's Lair.

Matt arrives along with the Templar types to Ozzy and Clarissa.

"I could walk through early, I'd rather not rely on extending that benefit to others if it really is a cheap ass instant kill, no save throw trap.  Want me to rush ahead and delay them as much as I can while you work with this?"

Should this be an acceptable course of action, Matt will bust on through without need of an extra post solely for saying he did what he said he would do.  Otherwise, he'll wait for the dispel for a team effort.

"I figure if I did die saving somebody, these victims wont steal my wallet after.  Better someone is trying to tear me in half than tear out somebody's soul at least.  Just think of it as another reason for Ozzy to work fast."

With this display of potential maturity done, Matt goes back to immaturity as he forces the Door Of Death open, and gives the door frame The Finger on his way through.  At the very least Matt can run rather quickly, even if he can't fly.

As Matt hurried down the stairs he heard the sound of chanting before he came across three cloaked individuals standing around some sort of sigil and their backs turned to him, for now.

As Matt went through the door, Ozzy cringed for a moment before remembering that Matt was technically already dead. He then started working even faster, hoping to get that damn spell off the door before anything terrible happened to Matt.
