"Thank you, aside from doing my part to protect life here, it would be nice to see space again.  It is peaceful out there."

His right hand flexes slightly, showing the internal struggle far more than his face and words do.  His thumb nervously scraping against the ring on his right ring finger.  Lin thankfully distracts him.

"I understand, discovering something like that about yourself can be very difficult.  If another time would be better, or talking to another representative I can accept that.  Though for that meeting, I would like to get changed into something more concealing of my identity."

He does his best to just focus on Bella for a bit, the innocence of a child, the happiness.  He missed that feeling.  Taking a breath he looks towards Bill.

"Unlike my Mentor, I am known for my occasional slip up, especially when emotion comes into play.  Growing up I spent a lot of time on a little farm just outside the limits of Smallville, Kansas."  A soft breath is expelled as his thumbs moves away from the ring as if it cut him.  "I was in Metropolis visiting, a very close friend, the day Uncle Kal fell defeating Doomsday.  If I am going to up my training, I do need an answer."

He looks down to his left pectoral where beneath his shirt, a certain being sat in the shape of a dragon tattoo.

"From both of you.  Sorry I have not spoken much to you, I have been used to walking this path on my own for some time."

Wraith is speechless for a moment. He is about to answer Ethan when Mittens disappears. His hood looks at where she was. He looks back at Ethan. "I am unsure why she reacted that way. My apologies. To answer your question... no. I was not aware. What does that mean exactly?"

When Mittens returns, Wraith can only guess as to why she smells the way she does, but he reflexively moves to put a comforting hand on her shoulder, forgetting for a moment that thanks to his costume, that means a creepy skeletal hand is now gently resting on her shoulder.

"Here, let's take a seat." Ethan led them to one of the open tables and at down. "It means a number of things. For one, you can regenerate from most any injury , You are immune to disease, and eventually you will stop aging completely. You are not completely invincible, there are ways to kill an immortal. I cannot tell you what they are, as I do not know them, Lin can, because she does. It is also very difficult for an immortal to conceive children, but it is possible. In addition you will find yourself drawn to and superhumanly talented in a particular set of skills, usually under an archetype. For example I am a swashbuckler. I am skilled in both melee and ranged combat, primarily swords and pistols. I am naturally very stealthy and acrobatic, and a nimble fighter. I am also natuy very charming and skilled at manipulation."

Daniel Heind:
"Thanks, you to-" Daniel cuts off what he was going to say before making himself look like an idiot.

The Waitress walked away to attend another customer.

Daniel took a second to contemplate the food, he had probably never seen such quality food, it even seemed to rival what his mom would have cooked for him, though he knew he was probably exaggerating when it came to his moms cooking.

Daniel put his book down and began eating.

Never in his life had Daniel eaten such good food, the tea was at the perfect temperature and the mixture was flawless. The ham was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were perfectly seasoned. Daniel spoke under his breath while still having some food in his mouth, "bloody hell, not even ma would cook this well" a small amount of tears began flowing froms Daniels eyes as what he was eating seemed to be a gift sent from the gods.

Long story short, the meal didn't last long.

When he was done, one of the staff came and collected his dishes, and asked him courteously "Would you like anything else?  There are also desserts available, as well as Italian ices, and ice creams."  Clearly, the young lady being his waitress was an attentive and good server.  She only looked to be about sixteen, at best, and he could have sworn one of the young men over by the coffee-bar area looked even younger.  Daniel could also still smell the food in the back, and there was clearly more of the dish he'd just had an excellent helping of (someone had Chinese ideas of portions, enough that if he ate it all, he was a well stuffed patron) available, and the waitress added helpfully "We also offer carry-out if you decide you want some more for later.  Miss Kattakara always says that we should never send customers away hungry if they don't want to be."

"From both of you.  Sorry I have not spoken much to you, I have been used to walking this path on my own for some time."

Lin shook her head, and said "It will be fine.  Ethan just didn't want the person to find out the way he did, by receiving what would have been a fatal wound for a mortal.  And yes, if you fall to the temptations you describe, one of us, at least, can make sure you are either contained or slain, although contained would be preferrred."

Meg nodded, and said gently to Kevin "I might not seem like it, but I've got a lot of oomph if you really need it, and then there's the other side of the coin.  If you get in a bad way, health wise, come to me.  You won't share this with everyone, but I can heal.  I can make anyone else heal like I do, and even though I am not an Immortal, I regenerate to a degree that is frightening to some.  That's why I don't do so much hero work anymore, really, too many chances for that secret to get out and bite me again."

Bella looked up at Kevin, and with the innocence of a child, she unwound from Meg, changing back into her little solid self, and held her hands out to him, floating chest-high, and said simply "Up?"  Asking him to hold her, offering him that trust as only an innocent child can, and at the same time, giving him the comfort of being a human, of touch and contact with another human.

His friend on his chest answered softly "Being here to offer you advice and guidance means I can observe and learn more of what you need when I watch, and I let you think to ask ME when you want that help.  Otherwise the student grows to resent the teacher."

"Mittens is an emotional kettle," Mittens explains, sounding exhausted, "From time to time she boils over and blows her top.  Not polite to do in a nice restaurant such as this."

And of course, being a kettle, she often winds up with pots calling her black.

Miss Adventure takes the offered seat and takes a swig of bottled water, listening to Ethan.  Hearing him flatly describe himself as skilled in charm and manipulation makes her head spin.  But at least it's very solid evidence that he's being extremely candid.  Wait... Exactly how old is this guy?!

Wraith, of course, sat as indicated. He nodded to Mittens as she gave her explanation and is happy she didn't make a deal out of the skeletal hand once he realizes he placed such a creepy hand on her.

He listens to Ethan. The little halloween escapee is silent for a bit, perhaps digesting what Ethan told him. "And how do you know all this about me?"

Mittens was toootally too drained to notice creepy hand on shoulder!  The lack of remembering to react to such a fun narrative has absolutely nothing to do with the player's failings at all!  D:

... Actually, no. We're gunna say that once it sinks in, Mittens reacts much like this:  https://media.giphy.com/media/...j5qkQmVleO/giphy.gif

"That you're immortal? I can just... Tell. In the same way parahumans are subconsciously drwn to one another immortals can sense our own kind. It's a feeling we get when looking at each other, I've met enough to recognize it. Or do you mean how do I know how immortality works? Because I am one. Do you....not know who I am?"

Wraith slowly nods. "I know who you are, yes. And I am honored to meet you. You have answered my question. I suppose this means I will gain the ability to sense other immortals some day as well. There was a sense of urgency in your approach. And I do appreciate you telling me. But I'm curious... is there a particular reason you decided to tell me now? Surely I would have eventually discovered this simply by not aging..."

"That would be a possibility yes, but that could take decades depending on when you stop aging, it varies. And judging by your attire I'd assume you are in the type of life that makes it more likely to find out the way I did, by surviving a wound that should be fatal. Which is....traumatic, to say the least."

The words of a silly song come unbidden into Mittens' mind when she considers the ramifications of an immortal starting a family.  She tries to shake it off by thinking about another backstory she heard of: surviving being buried alive, presumed dead.  Not working.  Maybe thoughts of pulling a harmless prank on Daniel?  Nah.  Fun times with rude vigilantes never end well.  Which brings to mind The Song That Never Ends.  Wow.  An immortal could really fry your brain with that one.

With now two songs repeating over and over in her mind, Mits just quietly listens to the conversation, greatly relieved at Wraith's composure.

True to his request, he was brought a bowl of vanilla ice cream, but it was the home-made type, not the weak stuff that most commercial places offered.  This was the rich, delicious kind that was made in the ice cream machine at home, (or apparently in the kitchen here) and it was delicious.

Trauma seems to be the name of the game for all these heroes. "...thank you for the warning. I will be sure to brace myself for whenever I get mortally wounded, yet refuse to die. Are there things I need to be taught about that are best done by a teacher? Or is the rest of what you know about being immortal experience alone?"

Daniel thanked the waitress and began eating the ice cream. At first he had to wait because his mouth was still pretty hot from the Green tea and the ham, but after his mouth cooled down a bit he began truly savoring the ice cream, this time he made sure to eat it slowly to savor the ice cream as much as possible and simply enjoy himself, in the end he was having a vacation and while it might have had a rough start he would make sure he would enjoy all of it.

"Thank you, Lin.  And I understand your choice, Meg.  Healing is an excellent gift, but a costly one as well."

He smiles a bit when Bella floats over to him.  He can't help but wonder how much of this is just a child wanting held by someone new, or is this child a bit more perceptive than what a child her age usually is.  Still even as these thoughts flow through his mind, he picks her gently.  Cradling her with his right arm so her head rests even with his shoulder.  His left arm just helping to support or occasionally his left hand giving something for her hands to chase after.  There was still just the slightest bit of a wall, the actions more because this is how you react when a child requests to be picked up by you.  Even if they were already floating at about that level in the first place.  Still the smile on his face brightens just a bit as that wall thins and just slightly cracks.

"Multi-verse, but yes, I grew up in a reality where the characters of DC Comics were very real.  I understand, it is difficult to grasp.  I ran so many tests on myself when I first found that they only existed in Pop Culture Form.  I do not need you to believe that is where I am from, only that I am willing to help.  Still, information as to where I am from will help a bit with what I will be using to do so.  The equipment is from there."

He looks to Meg then, curious.

Meg gave hm a wry grin, and said "Pretty quickly, but there's no way I could get anything big enough or well enough armed to where those guys had to have come from.  Runabout's only got point defense laser and screens, to keep meteorites and such from holing it.  But I can show you faster than I can explain.  Bella's good to go with us, she's got Bill's invulnerability to a great degree, although not quite as strong as he does.  Shall we take the runabout out after I find out what Mom and Lorelei are plotting to do to Uncle for his five hundred and thirty third?"

Lin snickered, and said lightly "Which reminds me, Lorelei IS waiting upstairs.  I'll head up there, if you prefer, Megaira, you can get the planet saving stuff done while she and I connive to make little brother blush and stammer.  He is still getting used to being married, much less the ways of the female and holidays."

Bella, happy to get cuddles, snuggled right into Kevin's chest, and said "Nice.  She gently patted his chest, which was a lot like getting back-slapped by an adult, (clearly super strength was hereditary too) and said almost sleepily "Dada swarpa hugga mugge nyarla kishi abrava dowarble kamiari."  Whatever that meant, Kevin could feel her getting heavier in his grasp as she drifted to sleep in his hold.

Darren smiled, and whispered to Kevin "Now you're stuck, she likes you.  She doesn't nap on just anyone."

Ethan nodded and stood. "Follow me." And led them into the back room. There were two near identical chinese woman, one of which they recognized as Meg from the alien attack and the owner of apokryphos. There were two men, one with long blonde hair and well muscled the other leaner with short dark hair. It took a moment with them in civilian guise, but it didn't take long to recognize Excelsior and Fluid.

Ethan first approached the Chinese woman who was NOT Meg. "Lin, the boy here would like a reading if you don't mind? He wants more specific information then I can give him."

He then turned to Meg, smiled widely and wrapped her in a hug. "My favorite niece! Glad to see the restaurant's doing well. How's the side project going?"

Under the mask, Maverick was blushing once it sank in Excelsior was there. The two had met once before when Maverick didn't have the Wraith costume.

Maverick loves keeping secrets. But he isn't sure how he feels about his identity from this bunch of amazing heroes. He reminds himself that love and admiration for friends and trusted ones is just as much reason to keep a secret identity as distrust of enemies is.

Wraith steps closer to Lin and gives a polite bow, a skeletal hand to his heart. That haunting reverse-reverb voice spoke up, "Pleased to meet you, Lin. I am Wraith."

He gives the others in the room a nod as well.
