Lifelight does as instructed and totes what she can out of there. While she herself is impressively strong for a girl of her size and stature, it isn't superhuman, so she isn't able to carry out much by herself.

Back on Earth, Lifelight can be seen walking through the portal, carrying parts of alien tech and trotting over to place them near in the middle of the street. Lifelight then turns on her Holtzman Shield and calls out to nobody in particular, "Please bring any alien weapons here!"

The aliens with weapons didn't open the doors like humans do, their doors iris open, so when they tripped the 'emergency release', the bottom half dropped into the floor, the top half stayed put, and they fired (or tried to) through the bottom half of the doorway in an attempt to clear the room of what they considered hostiles aboard their ship.

Re: Apokryphos Cafe and Coffeehouse - The Cafe

Dane floated up when the door door went down, safely concealed by the upper door, both from enemy fire as well as line of sight. As he heard the click on the emergency door release a split second before the bottom door dropped, he called out in his battle-tested voice that immediately drew the attention of his companions, "Incoming!!" Take cover!"

As the aliens began to fire, Dane waited. Eventually, they would have to come through, and that's when he would reveal himself and the energy axe he wielded like a scythe, or, perhaps, a pendulum in a Poe story. The enemy had made an error - they opened themselves up to return fire while sacrificing their own concealment, yet would be unable to enter the room without passing through Dane's gauntlet.

He smiled grimly.

"It's all old flinch reflexes and approximations to better interact with the physical world. Though I appreciate the concern. He says to the slice and dice angel.

Among Matt's more boring hobbies, studying up on the city utilities.  For while it was a luxury he could afford to be sloppy with collateral damage, it was easier still to know what parts of the pavement you could carve open without having to reseal gas pipelines afterwards.

"I mean. I don't even breath, but you don't give the whole creepy mannequin vibe if you go through the motions."

Like that patch one of the remaining soldiers was standing on right now, carved away from underneath and partially sealed back up.  "Please do not chop off his head, I'm already seeing to it they can't kill themselves or be teleported away as it is."

IN SPACE, Where everyone can hear you scream real easily it turns out.

"Sorry Mittens, my arbitrary standards deem this a PG-13 fight to everyone else." His appendage (Or would that be the other way around in his case?) blocks stray shots that would otherwise have passed through the portal.

OOC: Let me know if declaring a random soldier captured is more problematic than declaring lots of them dead. A surprisingly common issue from freeform to pre-made modules.

In reply to Antoinette Rebeca Haze (msg # 322):

Next to where Lifelight sat down her pile appeared a few piles of tech after a silverish blur went to and fro the portal.

Absalom appeared next to Lifelight after the 2nd pile of alien tech.

"We need anymore or are we got enough?" he asked her.

Re: Apokryphos Cafe and Coffeehouse - The Cafe

Daystar grimaces a bit as he looks over the carnage.  What their true intentions for coming here, for choosing this specific spot would be difficult to ascertain.  It could simply be because they were here looking for a fight, but there was usually a motive for every action.  As he starts moving towards the portal, his middle and ring fingers press against his belt and a small compartment opens with a barely audible click.  A pair of tweezers, a small bag and a test tube are all withdrawn.  While he moves he looks about the wreckage, the movement of his head and neck slow and methodical.  He kneels quickly, briefly to pick up a small chunk of rocklike flesh and other organic residue on it.  With a quick scan it was difficult to tell what was and what wasn't contaminated from the fight.  Without a real control sample there was little he could do.  Still, knowing more about this enemy would be good.

The portal shifts and he watches as Lifelight and Duke make their way out.  Matt and the war angel had things well in hand.  While he doesn't speak, a glance is given to them all.  Doing his best not to make himself look like a threat.

Which left him to his situation.  A glance is given to the pile of tech at their feet as he moves off to the side, still approaching the portal though not going directly at it.  Visual samples had been taken both from the armor and weapons.  A few more seconds.

There.  Approaching the device he kneels over it.  The power still seemed to be on.  The eyes of his mask light up along their edges just slightly as he gives the device a scan.  Both with what tech of his was working along with his own eyes.

Re: Apokryphos Cafe and Coffeehouse - The Cafe

The device did still have power, and his scans indicated that were the laws of physics not being pretzeled, it would still be broadcasting a powerful jamming signal that basically filled the airwaves with what amounted to screamingly loud white noise.  The power source was contained within the device, and the case of it did not seem designed to be opened or manipulated in any way.  It didn't even have anything that was clearly an on/off switch as he knew them.

When Lifelight was exiting, Matt's headtail deflected some laser behind her and she seemed to not even notice. But she softly said "Thank you." apparently to no one in particular.

Back to the present:

Lifelight's hair got blown about by the wake of Duke's rushing back and forth, but the girl seemed to not really react, just having a spaced out look on her face. When Duke asked her the question, she looks over at him, then looks at the piles of tech curiously. "...The more, the better." then gives him a gentle smile. "Thank you."

Maverick takes note of the guy who entered the scene and made himself known as a non-hostile to the other heroes. With one hand on his binoculars to spy on the new arrival and one hand on his phone, he was ready to warn Matt, but sees that the new arrival is an ally. A smile on his face, Maverick is confident that between more arrivals, aliens falling, and alien tech piling up, this battle appears to be won.

Maverick streams a video update to the Derring family so they can see what the situation looks like from wherever they are along with this message: "Zero apparent civilian casualties and zero hero casualties. Aliens tough, but beaten. Technology being collected."

Mits blocks a shot or two with her lightsaber, redirecting them back at the enemy before reshaping terrain to provide cover for her escape.

"In Soviet Space, cover takes you!

"No need to apologize, Matt.  So long as I don't have to say sorry for my jokes.

"See you back on Earth, Rampage!"

Zoop!  She returns to Earth!  Upon seeing that Matt and Serena have the big bads handled, Miss Adventure cheers and claps!

"Woohoo!  Nicely done!"

That Antoinette.  Sure her being spaced out is puntastic for the situation, but she's more zen than even Mittens' space samurai teacher!  Just as cool with laser spam flying about as with sharing a puppydog with a friend.  Makes Mits feel... uneasy.

While Matt certainly takes note of his presence, even without the fact they had snuck off to have a chat with Meg is the telltale fact Daystar is doing actual forensics.  So clearly, the guy fiddling with the alien jamming device is on the level from that novelty alone.

"I'll deal with any property damage not deemed required evidence later." Granted, Matt would have said that aloud already out of habit.  But hey, new people.

"Alfred, take my position and compare it to the Osprey's flight records.  Open Investigation File: Foreign Invaders zero-zero-one.  Place results there.  I will dictate further casefile information later."

A few seconds pass and then he takes hold of a small handle to lift the device.  Testing the weight before attempting to move it.  Speaking up for the others.

"It would seem the hostiles brought equipment to jam a broad range of RF signals.  I am unsure why it is not currently working the way it was intended, but if you are collecting weapons, you should take this, too.  I would not destroy it, not yet.  If we can get it somewhere it will not be able to affect anything, we can work on a way of counter acting it again.  Outside of whoever or whatever is preventing it from functioning now."

Approaching the team standing at the portal he looks to each of them.

"Daystar."

A look is given around the area as well.  They were out in the open and there were many factors to take into account.  While some of the functions of his HUD were not working, he did have the option for now of Infrared.  Switching to that a more purposeful examination of the area within line of sight is given.

They'd cleared the hostiles, all of them were now deceased.  They had a pile of technology, themselves, and Matt's handy dandy abilities had kept the collateral damage to structures and items to a minimum, the people having had paras around long enough to exit fast stage left when hostiles showed up.

The team in space begins scuttling the spaceship, smashing anything that looked important. While they are still in the process of destroying the ship there is a large explosion out the viewport. Those that look manage to look in time see a red and gold blur slam through the last ship (that the team is not on). It appears Excelsior has joined the fight. It may be wise to leave before he destroys the last ship.

OOC: Excelsior is the worlds most famous and most powerful superhero, and leader of the Global Guardians A U.N. Sanctioned superteam composed of paras from all over the world.

Collecting evidence, AND not a brooding loner?  That's a bigger surprise than the alien invasion.

"Hi Daystar, I'm Matt.  The hope a more common solution to the jammer is found is why I didn't just break it when it was brought to my attention."

Speaking of things his awareness has caught onto, his headtail zips back through the portal and across the span of space and ships to comment more directly to Dean Dane, right on the first try honest.  "Hey, come home before Excelsior accidentally sends you hurtling through space.  Not that you are at any risk, but you'd have more dignity if Mittens or I don't have to catch you."

Re: Apokryphos Cafe and Coffeehouse - The Cafe

Dane had managed to find a main support beam junction of the ship, a location where two main support struts of the ship intersected. Once his companions were safely away, he grasped the beams at that junction, and pulled.

He had been told his strength might be theoretically limitless, and this seemed like a perfect time to figure that out. The ship resisted his efforts at first, and then, finally, parted. The beams went in opposite directions, and the hull tore.

He felt the cool vacuum of space chilling him, but he did not waver from his purpose. He was comfortable relying on a team, and trusted them to extricate him from his situation; it was what teams did.

Dane pushed one of the pieces of the scout ship away, sparking and sputtering as the torn electrical systems slowly died, and holding on to the other for the moment, to make it easier to find him.

The battle was over, and space, it turns out, was beautiful, despite the alien bodies floating about, and the debris. It was cold, and clean, and silent. He became aware that he was cooling down here, but not nearly as quickly as he would have before his transformation, and that he would need to breathe in a while, but not immediately. Curious.

Batman KaPOW* sound effects erupt from her phone when she gets a text from Secret Agent Boy.  Upon seeing Matt's headtail shoot back through the portal to Dane, Mits relaxes some and checks her phone.  Knowing Mav is watching, she simply gives a thumbs up and exaggerated nod.

"All Rampage's gotta do is grab hold and you'll pull him back, right?  Should I poof a life preserver at the end of your headdtail to make it clearer?"

She grins at epic double-blade Archangel calling out for her puppy!  "Ah!  So cute!"

"Nice to meetcha, Daystar!  I'm Miss Adventure!  And this is Matt, Serena, Duke, and Rampage should be joining us shortly.  Thanks for being so awesome, everyone!"

Meanwhile, a small portal opens briefly near Excelsior.  Out of it floats a dry-erase board with a message written on it that reads, "Follow the organic looking rope thingy to find Rampage and a convenient portal back to Earth."

Matt's instincts take a once over on Dane to see if they didn't need his help after all for breathing in space given how common that is, but won't give up his assistance on until the guy is back on Earth either way.

"I can appreciate the hesitance after seeing what I did, but I assure you despite appearances I can't cut bread unless I desire it.  and with that, Matt smoothly brings Dane back through the portal.

Excelsior has the practiced speed on display, while previously Matt demonstrated precision.   But looks like Dane is bringing home the gold for style today by suplexing a spaceship to death.  Wowie zowie.

"And we're back.  Mittens, I'll keep your ideas in mind for making the lifesaving intentions of a living whip sword, spines optional, more obvious... Probably more dignified than my idea of sticking plastic googly eyes and a fake mustache on the end."

OOC: ...Yeah I don't think this will work out
