Inside is a front desk off to the left, and as you go straight ahead, there is a large workout room with several mats and what looks like a small ring area. Off to the left portion of the room there are several punching bags available to the students as well as several books detailing the history of the martial arts and philosophy. An office sits towards the back of the dojo, completely furnished with desk, computer, and several filing cabinets. In this office there are also a lot of Flip's tournament trophies, as well as several pictures of him and the previous sensei at this dojo, a wise old Japanese man named Shiro Takeda. There is also a small room with a bed and a dresser that is used as a guestroom for anyone who needs it. This message was last edited by the player at 04:20, Sat 31 Oct 2009.

Nothing relaxed him like some fresh 'canvas' to work on after a good run through the city. The white stone wall of the dojo was a perfect surface to paint, and Ozzy almost felt guilty for raping the virgin wall... but he was an artist, and with materials this perfect, and the right opportunity... his Muse would bug him for days if he didn't take this opportunity, and use this inspiration. And so he begun to work, 'spray painting' the wall with his magic, using the old cans as a cover, just in case someone saw. In fact, in the back of his head, the worry that someone would find out his secret was greater than the fear of getting caught. Of course, both of those fears were lost to the bliss of the soft hiss of his paint, and the plain, blank space of the wall suddenly gaining color and form. Those near the building would be able to hear the Grateful Dead's 'Touch of Grey' wafting on the air from the alleyways.

"Ahem! That's some very nice work son...although I would rather you do that on canvas than on my wall..." The man's voice did not seem angry, but seemed to command a great degree of respect. This message was last edited by a game moderator at 02:59, Tue 17 Nov 2009.

Ozzy jumped to the side in surprise, dropping the spray can in the process. It hit the ground with a hollow 'clunk' before rolling off to the side. "Eepah! H-hey! So, lemme guess, you own this place, right? Umm... hey, how'd you like me to do a little mural for you, some bona-fide urban wall art? Completely free of charge, of course." On the wall, art had begun to take shape. He had the detail lines of the two main figures done, what seemed to be 'Hippy Skater Jesus' doing an inverted aerial grab over a street, reaching downwards to almost touch the outstretched finger of a pedestrian in a suit, who was reaching up and pointing in amazement. The street was currently just lines to suggest perspective. In short, it was Ozzy's modernized, urbanized, personalized take on Michaelangelo's 'Creation of Adam'.

"Very impressive. It does complement the side wall of the dojo. I will ask though that you stick with the theme of my dojo. What I would like is a bit of symbolism....A Dragon and A Tiger facing off...do you think you can manage that?"

"No problem, mister. Y'want me t' take this down, or do ya mind if I finish it? Just kinda lettin' my creativity flow, here... and where do you want this Dragon and Tiger? Front? Side? I can even have 'em arcing over your front door, if you want, I'm pretty good at wall-riding. Or, you know, I could go find a ladder. Whatever floats your boat."

With that, Ozzy started digging through his bag, bringing out an can of Ozzy's 'special' paint thinner, with the label for the original contents still on. It had been labeled as a commercially available paint solvent formulated to work on masonry and not require an after-wash, which was what Ozzy usually needed, but that crap was crazy expensive, so he'd just started filling it back up with the stuff he could make with his runes. And unless someone ran a chemical analysis on the stuff in the can, no one would be the wiser. Ozzy set to work immediately, splashing paint thinner on his masterpiece, sending the lines cascading down the wall in a strong-smelling black waterfall. Within a couple of minutes, the thinner had dried, and Ozzy set to work again, depicting a proud Dragon battling a fierce Tiger, their bodies forming a circle that was clearly indicative of a Yin-Yang sort of vibe. He worked slowly and carefully, consulting the owner about the poses and such before laying down any lines. Once the bodies and any details had been lined out, Ozzy asked, "There we go. I think that looks pretty good, myself. So, what colors do you want? Name anything you can think of, I've got all kinds of weird colors in this little bag of mine." With that, he started looking in his bag once more, pretending to be looking for whatever colors 'Flip' might want.

"I must say...that is very impressive. My friend Lucas would like it. How about you make the Dragon in an Azure color and make the Tiger White? That is very impressive..." He crossed his arms and looked it over again..

With that, Ozzy pulled a random spray can out of his bag, putting away the solvent, and collected the dropped can that he'd been 'using' to color in Hippie Skater Jesus's shirt. He shoved one can in one of his big pockets, then used the other two to create a nice little grading effect on the dragon's scales, making it look less flat, and switching between colors as necessary. He did much the same with the Tiger's fur, giving it a nice, three-dimensional feel, and making it visually different from the Dragon's scales and the white of the stone wall. Once he was done, Ozzy turned to the dojo owner, smiling. "Well? Do you like it?"

"You know, if I didn't know better, I'd swear that you were reading my mind. You drew it just the way I had envisioned it." He reached into a pocket inside of his gi and hands him a business car. "I would like to offer you a complimentary lesson if you're interested. And my name is Gene Owen....my students call me Flip." He extended his hand to Ozzy...

"Could be interesting. What's your policy on leg braces? I'm... well, to be blunt, I'm sorta disabled, and can't stand on my own without something to help support my leg, like the boot on my blades. I figured it's a valid question, since most places like this have a no-shoes policy, yeah? The name's Ozzy, by the way. Short for Oswald, but I hate that name, so it's just Ozzy."

"Well...the essence of the martial arts is flexibility..we all have to be flexible no matter what circumstances life brings us. And I think that you rising above limitation is an inspiration to us all. You know...while I was not a student of Bruce Lee's....I do admire what he said. To have no way as way...to have no limitation as limitation. Regardless, we'd be happy to have you. I'd like to introduce you to the co-owner, Lucas Martinez, but he seems to be otherwise occupied. Probably hanging out with his girlfriend..."

"That won't be necessary for the first lesson. Just come in and dress lightly...a sweatsuit would work just fine, and we can work all of the formalities out after you see what the class is like. Tell your folks about it...see what they think. The dojo hours are 10am to 9pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 9am to 4pm and we're closed on Sundays. Feel free to stop in anytime during those hours....and thank you again for sprucing up that side wall....that is very good artwork."

With that, Ozzy gathered up his stuff, shouldered his backpack, and unlocked his wheels. He skated off as he put the earphones over his actual ears, and cranked the volume waaay down. He liked it loud, true, but not so loud that it would burst his eardrums.

He then walked back into the dojo and made his way to the backoffice. There was still a lot of paperwork to do...
Dragon Fist moderator, 235 posts Mystic Martial Artist Tue 5 Jan 2010 at 14:36 |
There was the first class of the day: a lot of the students in the class were starting to earn their stripes on their white belts, so they would need to be taught some of the advanced forms. And oh yes...some of the students wanted to spar.... But the message that Don...or "Hunter" had sent them was troubling....Don't try to find me...what did he do now? Then he heard about Don Derring's escape and he couldn't help but reflect back on what Bertelli said when he and Mirage were there: that brute force wasn't going to break up the Legacy....but something more subtle might....maybe they were behind Don getting "found out" after all. And then there was this Registration thing. While not so sure about registering his identity with the government, the proposal seemed to be legit enough...and really wouldn't hamstring their efforts to helping keep things in Weston from boiling over. He would call Friday and the others as soon as he got a chance....to see what their thoughts on the SRA would be....

"Good Morning, Lucas." She said cheerfully. "It occurred to me that I have never seen the inside of your dojo, so I thought that I might stop by and let you give me a tour of your edifice. You can tell me how your date with Friday went last night. You know that I am ever so curious. So. How did it go?"
Dragon Fist moderator, 237 posts Mystic Martial Artist Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 03:28 |
"All right, all right, settle down...." Lucas said as he shushed the class as they were wrapping up. "Good morning, Lane..." he said warmly as he sat down next to her. "I wasn't expecting you here but it is good to see you. As for the date...well...let us say that there are things so sublime that one cannot put it into words..."
Mirage player, 111 posts Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 03:38 |
"I like to keep you on your toes, Lucas. It's a shame that you had a class here or I might have made things very interesting." Mirage said after studying Lucas' expression for a moment. "I was concerned about how your date went. Friday is a lovely girl but I get worried that there is too much Tomboy in her for her own good. I wasn't sure if she would dress up, throw on a nice dress and heels. Who was Katy's mystery date?"
Dragon Fist moderator, 238 posts Mystic Martial Artist Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 03:45 |
Pausing for a moment, he then added, "Aaron and I are friends...and business rivals. He owns a dojo not far from here. But it's a friendly rivalry....nothing malicious between us at all."
Mirage player, 112 posts Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 15:02 |
Her cheerful expression lessened somewhat. "I hope the news about Hunter didn't spoil your evening. I saw Friday's response and I instantly regretted sending the message in the first place."
Dragon Fist moderator, 241 posts Mystic Martial Artist Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 15:34 |
"Well...they seem to be pretty serious. Aaron mentioned that he was dating someone in passing but I had no idea it was Katy. And yes she actually did look very nice. Between you and I, Friday and I weren't sure if she was going to have someone with her at all, so it was definitely a surprise when she showed up with Aaron." When asked about the news of Hunter, he replied, "At first it did...but we decided to just let that go and deal with it the next day. Friday looked like she put a lot of effort into last night and we both didn't want it to go to waste. And you can't blame yourself for that Lane. We had to find out one way or another. Even though it wasn't welcome news, at least it came from one of our own instead of one of those 'Hard Copy' guys..."
Mirage player, 113 posts Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 15:51 |
"I was planning on going out to look for Hunter later this evening. I can see him breaking out of the jail but I just can't picture him shooting Jordan. Honestly, I thought that things were getting better with him. I know that we had our differences before over him leaving Weston but I thought when he decided to stay...well he has some explaining to do."
Dragon Fist moderator, 242 posts Mystic Martial Artist Thu 7 Jan 2010 at 15:58 |
Lucas then listened to what Mirage said about Hunter. "Yeah...we've got to find out what's going on with Don. But something has been gnawing at me. Do you remember when we were at the Bertellis, and Antonio Bertelli said that he couldn't deal with us using brute force...that he was going to use a more 'subtle' method? I wonder if the unravelling of Hunter might be the start of that plan. That's been troubling me ever since I found out Hunter had been arrested. Perhaps whoever arrested him may have acquired their evidence from the Bertellis...or maybe one of their subordinates..."

"I still can't help but believe that the Bertellis are behind the unravelling of Hunter somehow. The fact that Antonio Bertelli said that he HAD a plan still bugs me. Yeah...the timing for Hunter's arrest could not have been any worse...what with this Registration business coming into play. While I am not thrilled about having my true identity in the hands of someone I don't know, the proposal does look solid. I was really hoping to get everyone together...to figure out what kind of a move we're going to make. I'm almost willing to bet that there are people who are basing actions off of what we decide to do with Registration, so we have to tread carefully..." Lucas looked around for a moment and noticed that the dojo had cleared out. The students had left...and it appeared that Flip was in the back office, going over paperwork and getting ready for the afternoon class. "Well...would you like the tour and then maybe we can take a walk and talk about this some more?"
Mirage player, 116 posts Fri 8 Jan 2010 at 15:37 |
Mirage's hard expression softened at the mention of the tour. "I'd love to see your dojo." she said, slipping an arm around Lucas'. "When are you going out with Friday and Katy and her new beau again?"
Dragon Fist moderator, 245 posts Mystic Martial Artist Fri 8 Jan 2010 at 15:57 |
"We haven't decided on another double date yet....I suppose it mostly depends on Katy and Aaron and if they want to go out with us again...." As they started to walk along, he then pointed out, "This is the training area...this is where we start work on all sorts of things...class starts off with us doing some stretching....and then we start to work on some of the forms as well as stances...then from there...we get into a little bit of sparring..."

"Sure I can..." He then stood a few feet away from Mirage, and began to exhibit one of the intermediate forms that he had been teaching to some of his advanced students. His mind and body becoming one as the flowing of the form commenced. His hands whirling in different directions, followed by a spinning kick motion or two, then repeating the cycle and then brought to a close with a traditional salute. "That one there is a little bit of an advanced form. It's always nice to show that to people who are possibly looking to study..."

She leapt up, twisting her body around and whipping her leg afterwards, then landed softly on her feet. "A very nice kick. I look forward to using it later on." Mirage said with a smile. "Now I know that you might be thinking that kicking in a skirt is not very ladylike and you are right. This is a special circumstance though. I certainly wouldn't do this in public."

"If there is anything that I can to add to the lethal repertoire of Mirage, I'm glad to contribute to it. You took to that almost naturally. This is only a suggestion but if you were to train in a martial art suitable to you, you would be an even greater fighter than you already are." Lucas then executed a couple of somersaults, and then executed a series of spinning roundhouse kicks. "Be like water, Mirage. Like water, be formless...shapeless. Water is the softest substance in the world...yet it can penetrate the hardest substance...rock, granite, you name it. Water can flow...or it can crash. Be water, my friend..."

She ended in a low feminine crouch, from which she slowly rose to her feet and smoothed her skirt. "You're not the only one who can quote Bruce Lee, Lucas. He was a hero of mine growing up and I devoured his movies like candy." "You are correct however. I suppose that I could use with some formal martial arts training. I may have to stop by some more and have you show me some of your moves." "Do you give private lessons?" she asked in a flirty fashion.

Ozzy circled to a stop in front of the dojo, preferring to let the momentum of rushing through the city streets wear off on its own than 'forcing' a stop with the brakes. It was more fun that way, and a bit easier on his skates. Once he'd come to a stop, he locked his wheels and walked into the dojo, his backpack in tow. He'd brought some sweatpants and an old t-shirt that was comfy and easy to move in. As he looked around for Flip, he kind of wondered how his explanation of his sudden, miraculous cure would go over. It was technically true, though, which was the biggest merit of it, and with the way the city was these days, it wasn't all that hard to believe, either.

There were about 15 other students, dressed up in karate gis....and they all had varying colors of belts, some of them with red stripes on them, some numbered two, some numbered six. Flip then noticed Ozzy walk in. "Ozzy...it's good to see you. Though I have to say you're looking...well...much better than the last time I saw you." Turning to the class, he then says, "We have a new student with us today. Everyone..I want you to meet Ozzy..." In unison, the entire class turned to Ozzy and bowed. "So Ozzy...you want to watch...or do you want to actually take part in our workout?"

When asked if he was here to watch or here to work out, Ozzy grinned, "I'm gonna definitely give it a shot. Where's a good spot for me to go get changed?" Just then, the door opened up once more, and a middle-aged man wearing a classic black suit walked in, a briefcase in his hand. He strode confidently up to Flip and Ozzy, extending his free hand in greeting to Flip. "Afternoon, sir. I'm Michael Gysbourne, Ozzy's father. You don't mind if I observe, do you?" Ozzy looked towards his father, giving him a quick nod in greeting.

The other students smirked, but cleared some extra space, in case that the new kid was all talk and no walk. Ozzy just chuckled and took two steps, talking himself through the move. "Barrel roll... he said as he spun around and jumped, "With an Ollie 360!", throwing a kick that was a decent imitation of what Flip had shown, especially for a newbie. Impressed with some of the newcomers' performances, especially Ozzy's, Flip then said, "All right...we're going to break off and work on your forms. Those of you who feel that you have mastered your form, tell me and we'll evaluate your progress to see if you're ready for the next stripes on your belt." Looking to Ozzy, he then said, "Ozzy...the way you advance in the class is by learning forms...forms are a systematic movement which not only simulates some of the movements in the martial arts...but mastery of them as well. We go through several different steps of the form each week until you're able to bring it all together. Once that's done, then you can demonstrate the entire form and you will earn the first stripes on your white belt. Are you ready?"

As the class broke up, Flip came to Ozzy and also motioned for Mr. Gysbourne to come over as well. "Mr. Gysbourne...I have to say that Ozzy here has the fundamentals of the class well in hand...I would be glad to have him as part of the class on an ongoing basis. Now, there is a monthly fee of $40...but that covers the gi and any equipment Ozzy might need such as hand pads. So...that's my two cents. But it's ultimately up to you two. What do you say?"

When Flip asked if he'd like to join as a regular thing, Ozzy nodded, "Yeah, I'd like to do this. I had a lot of fun, and I think that learning martial arts could be pretty handy. With all these parahumans running around causing trouble, I might end up needing it! Legacy can't be everywhere at once, after all." Michael nodded, and pulled out his wallet. He produced a pair of twenty dollar bills, and handed them to Flip. "Then it's settled," he said, smiling. "How often are classes?"

"Welcome aboard Ozzy. I'm very happy you've decided to stick with this. I hope to introduce you to Lucas at some point. It seems that young man gets busier and busier with each passing day." Accepting the money from Mr. Gysbourne, Flip then added, "I appreciate the faith sir. Martial arts isn't for everyone...but I have to say that in my years of teaching...I've never seen anybody take to them as much as Ozzy here. The only other young man I've known to do that is Lucas Martinez. Anyways, classes are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Lucas usually teaches the morning classes, and I take the afternoons. We switch now and again since Lucas has other obligations besides the dojo but he's very dependable." Offering a handshake, he then said, "Mr. Gysbourne...Ozzy...it's a pleasure to meet your acquantince...and I certainly hope to see more of you."

"Well, Ozzy, we'll see you tomorrow. Have fun at your uncle's, but not too much fun, okay?" Ozzy nodded and waved goodbye to his dad before turning back to Flip. "Arright, Sensei, I'm gonna get changed and then get outta your hair. Thanks for the lesson! I enjoyed it, and I can't wait for the next one. See ya later!" he said before dashing into the changing room. Soon enough, he was back in his street gear, ready to tear up some pavement on his way up to the registration office. ===============> To the Registration Office ==============>

Lucas arrived back at the dojo. As he walked inside he saw Flip working out, going th It looked like Flip had just wrapped up the afternoon class, as it appeared no one else was at the dojo. "Hey Lucas....I see you've been keeping busy..." "Hey Flip...yeah things have been kinda hectic...look, there's something I need to tell you. It's about my frequent absences..." Flip looed puzzled for a moment. "All right Lucas...what's on your mind?" Lucas looked down for a moment. "Well...I've had some activities outside of the dojo that have kept me busy...and it's because I'm Dr--..." "You're Dragon Fist? Son, I've known that for a LONG time..." "But how did you..." "Son...martial arts fighting styles are like fingerprints...they're unique to each individual...I saw Dragon Fist in action once...and I recognized one of the combinations that I taught you. Wasn't too hard to figure out after that..." "Well...I'm glad you know...but listen...there might be some bad stuff coming down the pipe because of Dragon Fist...some powerful enemies are making a serious play for power..." "Oh you mean like that gang that tried to take over the city? Whatever...you guys dealt with them...and I'm sure that you'll deal with whatever's coming at you now....Look I'm heading home...take care of yourself Lucas..and I'll see you soon. And please be careful.." Flip then exited the dojo, and Lucas was there all alone. He REALLY needed to think...about a lot of things. He then went into a kneeling stance and began to meditate...hoping to center his mind in the ever-growing whirlpool of chaos that surrounded him.

Wherever you are, I hope you are well Friday...please come back to me... A part of him looked forward to his meeting with Mirage. Perhaps it was time to level with her on some of the things that were troubling him...and also bring the femme fatale on some of his secrets as well. After all, he and Helena were good friends, but how much did they know about each other, really? But that would have to wait. Right now, there were things to do. He really didn't want to butt into the New Age Defenders plans, but perhaps they needed some help in dealing with some of the things that they were going to be facing against. Summoning his armor when he was still in the dojo, he went out the back entrance, making sure no one was looking and took to the air... >>>>>>>>>>>To The Rooftops>>>>>>>>>>>>> This message was last edited by a game moderator at 22:32, Fri 12 Mar 2010.

Dragon Fist landed with Meg. Setting her down gently, he then looked around for a moment. Seeing that no one else was present, he then retracted his armor...revealing the form of Lucas Martinez. "I don't know if you remembered when I talked with you guys at the Registration Office...but I'm Lucas....." He then unlocked the front door of the dojo and led her inside to the office in back. "To understand this story, you would need to understand about me. So here goes...There was a young man named Lucas Martinez," he says pointing at himself. "I lived in a relatively loving home growing up with both parents, myself and my younger brother. I did however...get bullied a lot when I was in junior high and high school, so my Dad took me to a local dojo to learn karate." He then took a deep breath, "I took to karate fairly quickly, and my sensei was surprised..and pleased, at my progress in my class. I learned a lot, not only karate but philosophy as well. Then there was one fateful day..." he put his face in his hands for a brief moment "...I was practicing some breathing exercises along with my brother, when we were approached by a couple of football players. They began to ridicule me, and my brother talked back to them. I tried to get my younger brother to stop...but he was younger than I was... and bull-headed. Well, one of the football players slapped him, giving him a bloody nose. At that time, I...just reacted. I came up to him...and," he bowed his head, "kicked him in the knee, once in the gut, and then...in the face...and he fell unconscious. He pulled through, what with a few broken ribs and all, but I could have killed him because I did not discipline myself. I live with that image, knowing that in losing control, I was a danger to myself and those around me." "My Dad..threw me out of the house. He said that I had gotten dangerous. That I was a bad example for my brother. And who could blame him? So I went back to the dojo, unsure of what to do or where to go. When I arrived I found that my old sensei had passed on," he said, wiping away a tear, "and a new teacher came to fill his position, and he was one who would become a great influence in my life...Gene "Flip" Owen. He was a world caliber karate champion, but also a world class teacher and person. He let me stay in the dojo while I got myself back on my feet, and I excelled to my brown belt under his tutelage. He was also a good friend and really helped me a lot. The philosopy teachings that my old sensei started with me...he helped to bring all that together and really helped me to straighten my life out." Lucas stopped for a moment, then told Meg, "I warn you now, the next part of this story may be...unsettling. After class one night, I went out to get some things for Flip, when this dark figure came out and challenged me. He was completely obscured, I couldn't even see his face. I didn't know why at the time, but he began to come at me with everything he had. Naturally, I attempted to defend myself, but he was strong, fast...and decisive in his strikes. I couldn't land anything solid on him. After getting me to overextend myself, he took his hand, reached into my chest and....pulled out my still-beating heart from it." Shaking for a moment, as if from a long-forgotten chill, continuing, "It was at that time that I knew I was going to die, and I didn't know why. He stooped over me and watched the life ebb away from my body, and then turned and walked away. Then things went black..." "I was surprised to wake up. When I came to, I thought I had gone to heaven, because I was in a lush paradise, like nothing on this earth. I reflected back on some of the legends my first sensei told me about, and came to determine that this had to be Shambala...or what's commonly known as Shangri-La. It was a place of utmost peace and perfection...except for the fact that I was there. I got up, and I felt for my chest where my heart would have been but there was nothing there, just the gaping void of where it had once been. It was very...unsettling as i found out that my heart had been ripped out by the assassin. It was then I was approached by an old man who called himself Tao." "He told me that he was the Guardian of Balance in the universe, and that the Champion of Darkness that killed me was a reaction to the scales of Balance being tipped in evil's favor. So, a Champion of Good would need to be created to offset this new evil, and balance the scales. I don't know what came over me, but I knew that I had to oppose this person. A big part of it was selfish at first, I admit that. I really wanted revenge. But I also wanted to do the right thing, and protect the world from this evil that had slain me, and to fight for those who couldn't fight for themselves. So I told him yes..." "Tao gestured briefly in his hands, and within seconds, a heart of metal was in my chest, which would fulfill the same functions as my human heart would have. It was then that he told me with putting my fist to this heart, that I would summon the power of The Dragon, and I would choose the form of which the power of the Dragon would come forth. As I thought about my art and the symbol of Goju-Ryu, which is the fist, and I thought of armor...and a set of armor came over me. I looked in one of the pools of water, and I was armored as Dragon Fist, surging with power. The sensation was amazing! Now, I could actually make a difference in the world instead of just talking about it." "It was then that Tao had given me these tenets: oppose the Dark Champion whenever possible, protect the weak and the innocent, and do not abuse the power. He then opened a portal and told me to go into the world and help make it a better place. I leaped through the portal, and things are as they say..history." "In the time afterward, I have fought crime, corruption and even the Dark Champion himself on a couple of different occassions. He and I are destined to oppose each other...if the Balance isn't kept...something bad could happen...I had the opportunity to kill him once...but I am not a murderer..." He then ran his fingers through his hair, then looked at Meg. "There you have it..."

Lucas woke up in his bed, breathing hard and he was in a cold sweat. He was ready....but soon found himself in the spare room in the back of the dojo. He wiped the sweat from his brow, and sat up in the bed and looked down. He was definitely being pushed to his breaking point. But..he couldn't break. It wasn't an option for him. Lucas found a semblance of sleep last night after everyone had disbanded. It actually felt good to get that secret off of his chest. He had really wanted Painter and Mirage to be there...but he figured that they would find out from the others as well. The nightmares with Flamethrower continued to haunt him. Sure he had been forgiven but Flamethrower's blood was still on his hands. Then....Friday appeared in his dream...reaching out to him....sure she was a telepath....but she could enter someone's dreams? Or was this his subconscious? Was Friday reaching out to him somehow from afar, letting him know that she was still there for him? It didn't matter at that moment....because of Friday's visage, Lucas was able to find rest after the disturbing nightmare. Stirring awake, he hoisted himself out of the bed in the backroom of the dojo. Getting a shower in, and getting himself ready for the day. It sounded like Flip had started the morning class. They weren't sure about an afternoon one due to all the snow that had come in. That actually might work however, because there was a lot to do today. He sat down to catch the news....and it disturbed him. Hunter.....was missing? He had helped to quell the riots...and he was now missing? Maybe Hunter had escaped..or he was in trouble... It seemed that the work of Dragon Fist was never done...

Lucas came back to the dojo and taught the afternoon class. The students could tell he had a lot on his mind. Dismissing them after the class was over, he locked the place up but remained inside. Excelsior's words were stinging. Someone who was arrogant wouldn't accept words of wisdom especially from someone so young. Maybe he had a point. He then composed a text...

Dragon Fist landed in the alleyway beside the dojo. And he looked at that area with a degree of rememberance. For it was here, that....IT....happened. This was the spot where the Dark Champion had ended his life...and set him on his new one. A cold shiver went through his spine as he knew that this was indeed the place. Shaking off the momentary reverie, he retracted his armor, and then entered the back door, making his way to the spare room that he was using. Tonight looked to be a very special night. And Lucas knew that he would need to look his best. And so he would. The last time he wore this was when he had gone out with Friday. Before she left. And so he would wear it again... He took a quick shower and then changed out of his street clothes into a three piece suit in dark blue, tie, slacks and dress shoes. Combing his hair, making sure that it was perfect. Satisfied with how he looked, he then went to the front room of the dojo and waited for Mirage. This message was last edited by a game moderator at 14:33, Mon 21 June 2010.

Mirage reappeared on the roof of a building near the Dragon and Tiger dojo. She could have appeared inside the dojo but the objective was to draw out this enemy of Dragon Fists. Finding a nearby fire escape ladder, Mirage leapt her way down to the street below. She took a moment once she was on the ground to check her appearance once more. It had taken her sometime to get ready because she wanted to find the perfect look. And there was also that teddy bear that had been sitting on her couch when she got home. She wasn't sure where it had come from and was uneasy with the idea that someone had been in her home to deliver the stuffed animal. It might be related to the voice that she had heard earlier, but that didn't make much sense. She'd worry about it later. Her biggest concern at the moment was making sure that her hair was in place. She normally ran around the rooftops in a long slinky dress so surprising Lucas was going to be a challenge. Mirage had selected a spaghetti strap, black dress that ended just above her knees and hugged every inch of her luscious curves. The dress was sleeveless and left her shoulders bare except for the thin straps. The neckline was enough to show off her womanly swells but did not plunge too dangerously low. A pair of strappy heels finished the ensemble. Her nails and makeup were done and she wore a thin black choker with a pendant. Diamonds earrings dangled from her ears and her hair had been left loose to fall about her neck. Mirage walked to the Dragon and Tiger dojo, her heels clicking on the sidewalk, and entered the building. It was odd to see Lucas so dressed up but it was not an unpleasant sight. "Don't you look nice when you've cleaned yourself up." she teased, taking a moment to appreciate his work.

Helena smiled as she walked through the door to the street once more. She waited for Lucas to lock the dojo up before she slipped her arm through his once more. Grateful to have assisted with Eleanor's rescue, Dragon Fist then devoted all of his energies to finding the Dark Champion. Lucas went through the next two days of his routine: teaching the afternoon class, checking with Flip on the business side of things for the dojo, and then staying after hours in the dojo...meditating...centering himself...for he knew that the battle with the Dark Champion was coming to a head. He had no idea of what happened to Meg...and not knowing ate at his soul. He did have some good heart to heart talks with Mirage....and Lucas was thankful that he could depend on her as an ear to listen...and a friend to support. Perhaps...she was...MORE than a friend... He'd also spent the nights looking for Meg...turning upside down every underworld connection...every street thug he could find...ripping into the criminal element like he never had before. But still his Dark opponent eluded him. Only for now...

She stopped and glanced at the floor. There was a rose on the floor, a red rose. She hadn't noticed that before but she'd been a little distracted. Why was there a rose in Lucas' office? Dragon Fist landed in the backalley, and then retracted his armor. Using the backdoor access, he went inside the dojo. It sounded like Flip was finishing some things, but wasn't in the office, so he went to check on Mirage. "Hey beautiful...sorry to rush off like that...there was a hostage situation at the hospital, but it's been taken care of. You feeling better?"

How could she have been so careless as to get shot? That rarely happened to her anymore. There was no way that she'd be able to go to her physiotherapy with this. She'd have to call in and make up some excuse. Frowning slightly is disgust, Mirage lowered her arm and used her illusion casting ability to hide the bandages. She'd feel terrible for a few days and maybe she'd have to just disappear while she healed up. No, she couldn't do that. Her phone buzzed and Mirage checked the message as her sundress reappeared. It looked like good news from Don. Perhaps his meeting hadn't been so bad.

Mirage turned at the sound of Lucas' voice. She stepped out of the bathroom leaving a small trail of crimson smoke as her sundress reformed around her. "Hello Lucas. I'm doing better, thank you for asking." Helena smiled at Lucas. She was doing better but not entirely, favouring her wounded side. "I did get Don's message. He stopped by earlier looking for you. He wanted to know if he could hide out here for a while since there seem to be bad guys after him. Your dojo is becoming quite popular."

Lucas came back to The Dragon and The Tiger after the meeting with the other members of the Legacy. First, finding out that Don had a daughter...and then finding that this daughter came back in time to deliver a warning. A very cryptic warning... He then went to meditate and focus himself on the battle that was yet to come, because he knew that this would be one of the most treacherous battles of all. And he had to be prepared... There was no choice...

A sleek black limosine pulled up in front of the Dragon and Tiger dojo. The windows had been tinted so that those outside could not see inside. A driver in a suit stepped out and walked to the dojo. "I'm looking for Mister Lucas Martinez. Is he here? I'm supposed to take him to the airport."

Lucas returned to the dojo, then selected a nice suit and tie. This one...this one he had worn when he and Friday went doubledating with Lady Psyche and Aaron Tanaka. He put the suit on, straightened his tie, and then stood by the front entrance waiting for Helena to arrive. Seeing the driver walk up, Lucas approached him. "I am Lucas Martinez..." Even though they were trying to find out more about Ahriman, Lucas did have a good time with Helena, and the woman's moral support was very uplifting. The void in his heart though would take a long while to heal however, but Helena certainly made things a lot easier. They had certainly became a lot closer in the trip to Texas, and Lucas vowed to pay back Helena for her kindness and support...it's that even he didn't know when...yet... Returning to the Dragon And The Tiger, Lucas had made sure that he showed his appreciation to Helena for her efforts, giving her a very warm hug and a kiss on her cheek, telling her repeatedly over and over (even if she was sick of it) how much he appreciated her efforts in this matter. Friday was Helena's friend too. He didn't want to believe she was gone. But the evidence spoke for itself. Lucas then began to work out, almost obsessively, focusing himself for the potential battle ahead against Ahriman...and against Oni.... That was, until his cell phone began to buzz with an incoming text message...
Ozzy Gysbourne player, 723 posts "No damn chains can hold me to the ground." Thu 12 Aug 2010 at 00:10 |
Life for Ozzy had gone as close to normal as it ever was for the past couple of days. With Winter Break starting today, his martial arts lesson with Lucas at the Dojo was really all he'd had to do today, and so he'd spent most of the day studying the Tome, or skating when his eyes started hurting from reading too much. At class, he'd noticed that Lucas had been acting a bit... odd. Like something really, really bad had happened on his mysterious little trip. Ozzy had decided to make sure he was okay. Even if they didn't know each other that well just yet, Ozzy couldn't help but feel a certain kinship with the older superhero. As Flip had said, the two were a lot alike. After class, once he was changed back into his street clothes, he waited around a bit for the other students to leave before he cautiously approached Lucas. Before he could speak, Lucas' cell phone buzzed, and Ozzy waited for Lucas to answer it before speaking. "Hey. What's up? You seemed... a little out of it today. Everything allright?" Then, realizing what the message might have been about, he asked, "Err, do you need me to let you go get changed? Sorry if I'm interrupting you."

Lucas walked into the dojo. It looked class was just wrapping up. Flip saw him come and waved. "Hey Flip..." "Lucas...how's it goin'? It's good to see you." "You too Flip...anyhow I've taken care of the rent for this month and the supplies that we'll need for the kids. Sorry I've been so out of touch lately, I've just been dealing with a lot of things." "I could see that Lucas....you're not sleeping much, I can tell. But whatever business that Dragon Fist has, Dragon Fist needs to learn to take care of himself." "I...yeah...you're right, Flip...thanks..." "Always glad to help Lucas...you know you've got your family again. You really shouldn't be a stranger to 'em. I know with your brother bein' a part of the Weston SCU and all that...but even so...you have 'em back. Hang on to 'em as long as you can Lucas..." Flip then turned to walk out. "Make sure you lock up Lucas. See you tomorrow." "Take care Flip..." Lucas then went to the office. There was something he wanted to do. He wanted to go by the Above and Beyond Detective Agency. Friday had given him a key. He wanted to go there and perhaps say a few last words since she was apparently gone. Gone...but not forgotten... He then stepped into the office and noticed the envelope there. "What the hell is this?" he said as he began to open it.

But Friday would not have wanted him to stay like this. He also knew that she wouldn't want him to do something that would cost him his very soul. And then Lucas remembered the three tenets that Tao had given to him when he first received the mystic heart: Do not abuse the power....protect the innocent and fight for the helpless...and oppose the Dark Champion at every turn. "If you're out there, then I believe you already know the answer. There must be balance...and I will not be the one to end you. But I will be there to oppose you every step of the way. And I will fight you with every fiber of my being and leave you running in defeat every time."

And with that, he gathered a few sticks of incense, a picture of Friday that he had taken of her a while back, and the key to the agency. He headed out the door and went to a place he had become very familiar with, moreso in the last few months. >>>>>>>>>>>To Above and Beyond Detective Agency>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Dragon Fist reappeared over the section where the Dragon And The Tiger was located. Retracting his newfound armor, he then used the backdoor access, using his newfound abilities to sense the chi of those things around him. He walked inside and into the backroom. Flip was on the mend. But the question still remained....who injected him with Blood? And these arsons? Who was behind that? But Lin advised that he needed rest, and a sharp mind. Lucas then took off his shirt, and laid down in the bed in the backroom of the dojo, and allowed himself a brief moment of respite.

He led him inside into the training area. "Here's what's happening...there was a Para that the Legacy had fought against some time ago. His name was Flamethrower. He's dead...or so most of us thought. I've found out...on pretty good authority...that he's still alive...but using his spirit to 'jump' into different people and then use his powers to burn structures. Do you know of a way to track him or contain him? He was dangerous in life and I fear that he may be even more dangerous in death."

Lucas taught the morning class. The afternoon one was postponed due to the holiday season, but he encouraged his students to keep vigilant and practice what they had been taught. Flip would be back to teaching within a week's time, and would be able to handle some of the load as well once the holiday season passed by. But Lucas was concerned about recent events. Flamethrower returning....he had recurring nightmares about what had happened in the nursing home....and the death of Flamethrower by Dragon Fist's hands. It was STILL a profound event..one he would never forget. Oni had been awfully quiet ever since he had given his letter to Lucas. Was he planning something...or simply trying to goad him into becoming the new Champion of Darkness? Or maybe even he had something to do with Flamethrower's resurrection? Lucas knew he had to train, to keep himself sharp. And so he did. Both with the earthly martial arts he had been taught...and also what the two Dragons had taught him recently about the Elemental arts.

He was waiting for word from Shell or Oswald, but he knew that he was also needed out in the city. There was too much chaos out in Weston for the Champion of Light to stand idly by. Using the backdoor access, he summoned his armor once again, and took to the rooftops, hoping to get a good vantage point as to what was happening in the city. Aside from the arsons... >>>>>>>>>>To The Rooftops>>>>>>>>>>>

The Christmas party was indeed very nice. Diantha was a charming little girl, and things seemed to be going well. But there was trouble still brewing. And it weighed heavily on Lucas' mind. There was the person who had injected his mentor Flip with the drug "Blood." It was someone who knew Flip's connection to Lucas...and someone who knew that Lucas was Dragon Fist. There was also the scientist from the future, who believed that killing Legacy would stop a great war from happening. Enemies seemed to assail them from all sides. But there was one sweet instance to come out of all this: Lucas came clean with his feelings for Mirage. Feelings that had been growing ever since their trip to Texas. And he had given those feelings utterance, and it felt like a great weight had been taken off of his chest. Of course, they would take things slow. They both had been through their fair share of trauma. Awakening, he began the day as he normally did. Getting up, showering, then getting the dojo ready for the morning class, and teaching it. A break in the mid-morning, then he thought he might give Helena a call and see what she was up to. There was much to do. Take care of the expenses of operating the dojo and ensure that all the dues were paid up (which they were, the students were pretty good about that). Dressing a black polo shirt and khaki slacks, Lucas made ready to head out the back door of the dojo.

Dragon Fist flew down to where the exchange was taken place. It looked like two young toughs, one had long dark hair, the other had a blonde mohawk, were trying to hassle two of his students: Armando Romero of Filipono descent....and Lucia Lugo...Puerto Rican descent... "All right kids...back off...." The one with the mohawk stuck his tongue out at him, and furnished what appeared to be a switchblade. "Nobody tells us what to do, Dragon Palm! Or whatever the hell your name is!" He then lunged at the mystic martial artist. But he didn't realize that the Champion of Light had learned some things. Starting with the power of Air. Seeing the young man's movements look like the wind, Dragon Fist was able to interpret where the young man would strike. He slashed at him with the switchblade, but he easily evaded the switchblade. Now it was time to attack. Dragon Fist unleashed a three hit combination which struck the leg first, then the wrist that held the weapon, and then the face of the assailant. Promptly knocking him down. The other punk looked at Dragon Fist, the kids, and then his unconscious comrade. "We're gonna come back freak...with more numbers...and your kids are gonna pay up, whether they want to or not!" Dragon Fist watched the thug run away, and was almost certain that he would make good on his threat. It appeared that the problem with the street gangs was starting to seep in, even to the students of the Dragon And The Tiger.

It would be up to him to find out. Hunter was more than likely busy with his family and his own caseload, Mirage...it sounded like she was working on something deeply personal. Lucas had offered his help to her, and let her know that the offer was still on the table in case if his help was needed. Chances are, this was something that he would have to deal with on his own.

Ducking into a bathroom, Lucas once again summoned his armor, then came out promptly. The eye holes on his helmet seemed to glow with an azure light and he could see the chi of each person that was there. Then the man in the back decided to make his presence felt. "So...what've we got here? The hero of Weston...the great asshat...Dragon Fist. Well...I've got news for you hero...consider this as notice...you may push against the streets....but the streets push back. Every time one of you masked people come at us...you will see an image of a child of the streets..spitting in your face...think on that...'cause the war has only begun....boys...." Lucas then exited the training area for a moment, then came back, dressed in what appeared to be a navy blue jumpsuit. He was ready for just about anything. "If I'm not back in 6 hours, alert the Legacy. But I've got to do this for the kids in this dojo. Alone. If the gangs think they can get to them, what's to stop them from expanding further outward?" Lucas looked down to the dragon tattoo on his chest. "All right Kimeran. I need you to stay out of sight for just a short while. Lucas was worried about Mirage. The presence of negative chi was too hard to ignore. He hoped that she was OK...but the fact that it was there...it was present...compelled him to take action. He also didn't want to abandon Meg either. Stepping out of the dojo, he locked it up, and then summoning his armor, he took towards the rooftops, hoping to get a better vantage to start searching for Helena. Something told him that she might be in trouble.

That previous night had been rather productive. Now Mirage, Dragon Fist, and Hunter had a lead on The Builder. And they were going to get into position to take him down. Don's request threw Lucas off guard. He remembered when the Legacy had first come together. They seemed to butt heads on just about every subject, from how to deal with criminals to tactics. As time progressed however, they actually were able to work together very well. Some would say that they could even be friends. Which seemed far from the truth at one time. And then the almost impossible. Don had asked Lucas to be his best man for his upcoming wedding. Lucas was honored that Don would think of him enough to ask him for that honor. Being the best man at someone's wedding was a high honor, an honor usually reserved for the groom's friend or brother. The Legacy was like family, after all. And Don was like a brother to Lucas, though he never verbally admitted it. And then there was Helena. Lucas could sense the feelings growing inside of him ever since the trip to Texas. Ever since he realized that Friday wasn't coming back. Though her death had been avenged in a roundabout way, the loss was devastating to Lucas. But Helena had been a rock throughout the whole ordeal. A rock of support that he really needed during that time. In fact, it was her resources that made the trip to Texas happen in the first place. And their relationship began to grow. So much so, Lucas had to make an admission. He was in love with Helena. It almost seemed wrong, but Friday wasn't coming back. She did say that she wanted Lucas to live in...a special telepathic message she left with him before she left Weston. And with the one known as Mirage...it made perfect sense. And so Lucas put his heart in his mouth....and told her. The result was gratifying, even though they hadn't been on a date, they still knew the feelings for each other. Two broken people...who found solace with each other. One thing disturbed him though. The presence of negative chi that he had sensed around Mirage. Something happened to her. But what? For all of her good qualities, Mirage had always kept secrets. Lucas had some of his own, which he had disclosed recently to his friends. But there were still dark corners of Mirage's life that remained a mystery. Maybe forever. He awoke in the morning in the backroom of the dojo he had used as his living quarters, and taught the first class. Flip would take care of the afternoon classes. He was recovering very well from his ordeal, though Lucas still had to track down whoever did that to him. But for now, it was time for business. Wrapping up the first class, Lucas then wiped the sweat off his brow, making sure it didn't mess up his gi. It seemed that the class was conversing with each other before heading out.

For on the news was someone who Lucas knew didn't like the limelight so much. But there he was! Hotwire. And the blockbuster announcement that he carried with him. Teaching young Paras. It almost seemed like a dream, only it was really happening. Zeke was stepping up to the plate. Lucas couldn't help but smile. "Good for you Zeke..." Now Lucas had to find a tailor shop in town. The last time he had worn a tuxedo was in his senior prom, seemingly a long time ago. He didn't know how long this "shotgun engagement" that Don had st up would happen. But he knew he'd better get moving and soon. Sitting down at the desk in the back of the dojo, he began to thumb through the phonebook.

Stepping out of the back office, he could see Flip taking the class through a series of warmups and stretches before working on their forms. He waved and smiled, as he know the students from this class as well. Stepping outside, he felt refreshed and reinvigorated. That night's sleep had done him some good, and he would be focused for the task at hand tonight: taking down the Builder. Looking around, he then summoned his armor, and then stretching out his draconic wings, made his way upwards. >>>>>>>>>To The Rooftops>>>>>>>>>>>

Lucas returned to the dojo, waving at Flip and the rest of the kids as he entered the training area, and making his way to the back. He then sat down, and went over a list of what he was going to do today. "Getting a tux for Don's wedding...check...checking on the Tanaka dojo...check" He then sat back in his chair, deep in thought. Aaron Tanaka was certainly not the type of person to just up and skip town. Not without a good reason. Maybe he did, but if he did, he certainly didn't lead anyone to believe that this was the case. No, something had to be wrong. But WHAT? Katy was also off the grid too. But where could they be?

And read it again. He was still dedicated to the path that he had decided on. To be better than those he fought against as the Champion of Light. There were days that it was VERY hard though. With more and more sinister figures coming out of the woodwork, it was very hard to keep that lofty ideal. This Builder fellow that they were going after was one such example. A maniac who was happy in the misery of others. And Lucas couldn't help but wonder: what would it take for the Balance to be satisfied in regards to the maniac known as The Builder?

Dragon Fist moderator, 1639 posts Mystic Martial Artist Fri 4 Feb 2011 at 16:41 |
In his minds' eye, he saw a vivid landscape. A fertile valley, not unlike Shangri-La. And from a first person perspective, he saw his hands...but his hands had some sort of dark energy around them, black as night itself. He then remembered something that all of the martial arts instructors had relayed to him. His original sensei...Master Takeshiro....Flip...and even Kimeran...spoke to him of being pure in heart. To not let the Darkness overwhelm him. But if it ever did...he would have to take a journey to cleanse himself of that Darkness. To purge himself of the negative Chi that could overtake him. In his mindseye, Lucas at first saw a mountain. Then next, he saw a staircase going up the mountain. At the top of the mountain, he saw what appeared to be a multilevel golden pagoda. And then...finally....he saw a pool of water, the clearest he had ever seen. And the pool could make the one who went into it clean: in mind, body and spirit. Lucas then awoke abruptly from the dream, and looked around. He was still in the office, sitting in the chair. He then began to wonder what this vision was all about. Was someone trying to tell him something?
Dragon Fist moderator, 1640 posts Mystic Martial Artist Tue 8 Feb 2011 at 23:07 |
Then he got up out of his chair. Flip left a note on his desk while he was asleep and dreaming, indicating that all the fees were collected and all of the bills for the dojo paid. They were in the green, which was good for the year end budget. But Lucas had more pressing concerns aside from running the dojo. There were things that he was contemplating. Kimeran had told him something during their training. The senses....sight and hearing...could be made to lie to oneself by the enemy. And in some cases would prove to be unreliable. It was here that the true mental discipline of martial art could be achieved. Having a sight beyond sight. Having oneself be in sync with mind, body, and spirit, so that nothing could distract them. Being at one with oneself, and having a sight without sight. So Lucas went back out in the training area. The dojo was empty now after the students and Flip had left. He then went into a meditative kneeling position, and then began going through several katas he had learned, and also several forms that the dragon Kimeran taught him as well. All the while keeping his eyes closed, and letting the sight beyond sight become apparent to him.

Ozzy had worked diligently at becoming the best he could be when it came to excelling at the martial arts. He certainly had come a long way ever since first arriving at the dojo in what seemed to be a long time ago. The fact that he was on the threshold of becoming a green belt in the art of Goju-Ryu indicated a pretty significant achievement and work in excelling. He was one of the fastest rising students in the class, which amazed both Flip and Lucas. His character as Painter was coming along as well, having become a part of Masks Inc. and being a viable presence in the New Age Defenders. And so Lucas smiled, knowing that Ozzy would pass the test with flying colors. Even if it hadn't happened yet.

"Very good Ozzy. And don't worry...you'll be fine. You know something? I know that you would treat her with the dignity and respect that she deserves. And that to me ensures that you both will have a good time." He smiled for a moment, then put his hand on his student's shoulder in a reassuring manner. "All right...go ahead and get yourself prepared...physically and mentally. Focus your mind, body and spirit, so that nothing distracts you. With that, he proceeded to the changing area, getting into his gi and out of his street clothes. As was his habit, he left his bag in the appropriate spot, with Tats hiding behind it so that Ozzy could keep his vigil over the Tome of Orthos without having to be physically present. After all, there was nothing preventing certain parties from 'porting into that room while he was in class and taking the Tome. Lucas had been informed, of course, so that there wouldn't be too many questions from Lucas if Ozzy suddenly darted towards the changing area in the middle of class. Once he was in his gi, Ozzy sat down with his legs crossed and his eyes closed, focusing his thoughts inward, attempting to calm his mind. He could do this, he knew he could, now he just had to convince himself of the fact. To calm himself, he pictured himself sitting alone, much as he was, in a vast, white plane of emptiness, completely silent save for the sound of his own breathing. He sat like that for a few minutes, letting the serenity of his mental image flow through him. Once his mind was still, he took Lucas' advice to heart, focusing on his goal. Rather than simply the next belt, Ozzy looked ahead to his true goal in this class, achieving true proficiency with the style. The belts were only tokens, symbols of what he'd learned. If he were to simply be satisfied with colored cloth belts, then both he and Lucas were wasting their time.

But with what he had been taught by Kimeran, there was no belt for that. Just the knowledge of the elements, which was a very powerful thing indeed. Soon the students began to file into the dojo, each of them getting changed, ready for the stretches that signified the beginning of class. And all of them eagerly anticipating Ozzy's belt test.

That is, until the door opened once more, and in walked a mother and her young daughter. To Lucas, they would both be unfamiliar, though there was a certain family resemblance to Ozzy. "Ozzy? Honey?" said Gina, being cautious about where she stood, clearly not wanting to get on the mat or disturb anyone. Ozzy turned around, looking somewhat surprised. "Mom? Squirt? What... what're you guys doing here?" Michaela, the little girl, smiled and called, "Hey, Ozzy! Grampa told Mommy you were havin' a test today! At that, Gina looked a little sad, and just shook her head. "N... No. You know how your father is, and how he feels about... well, about you. But, Ozzy, he's still your father, even if the two of you aren't getting along." Ozzy just shrugged, "Figures. Eh, whatever. At least you're here, Mom. You too, Squirt. Good to see you. Lucas sensei, this is my mother, Gina Gysbourne, and my little sister, Michaela. I believe you haven't met them yet. Mom, sis, this is one of my martial arts instructors, Lucas Martinez. I don't think Flip sensei is here, is he? Flip is the senior teacher here, and the one that offered me that first lesson a while back." Gina smiled, "It's good to meet you, Mr. Martinez. Thank you for your patience with Ozzy, I know he's a bit of a handful sometimes." It was then that Michaela piped up, "Daddy says he's a delinquent. He then went through and worked the class through this several times. After a short rest, he called the class back into line. "Today....we see the natural progression of one of our students as he grows out of the beginner stage and into the advanced stage. I ask that you give him the respect that he deserves as such, for he has learned much among us, and we have learned much from him as well. We have learned the spirit of determination, of hard work, and the simple adage of don't quit. And now, it is with great pleasure that Ozzy Gysbourne now begins to utilize the knowledge that he has been given, and shows us that knowledge now." The class soon sat down at all sides of the workout area, giving Ozzy enough room to show his form. "It's all yours Ozzy....make us proud..." Lucas said as he stood off to the side of the mat, watching intently.

As he finished the kata and bowed to the class, and as the premature applause came from the Gysbourne family, Lucas joined in the applause, glad to see that his student and friend was coming along nicely in his training. Lucas then got out what appeared to be a wooden case and he then stepped onto the mat. He then opened up the case, and presented forth a green belt to all those who were assembled. "Ozzy Gysbourne....you have earned the right to ascend to Green Belt in the art of Goju-Ryu Karate." He paused for a moment. "This belt...is more than just an article of clothing. More than something to keep your pants. This belt is a symbol of accomplishment, and it also carries with it a certain responsibility. A responsibility to use wise judgement as to when to use and when not to use the skills that you have learned." He then gestured Ozzy to come forward, to receive his newly acquired Green Belt.

Soon, the class dispersed, and after going over various aspects of running the dojo, Flip went home, leaving Lucas in the room he inhabited in the back of the dojo. He then looked at his phone for a moment. No one had called. He was hoping to hear from Helena. He was fond of her....in love with her. That was no doubt. But despite the good times they had, there were times where it felt like she was a million miles away. Lucas knew that there were still some unresolved issues that were plaguing. Issues that he hoped that he could help her with. He looked at his phone again, and almost dialed her number. He brought it up at least three times. Until...finally...the fourth time was the charm, and he sent the call. But there was no answer. He had hoped that she would have answered. She touched the edge of her lips where the club had struck. Her jaw felt pained and slightly swollen. The nice thing about illusions was that she could make herself appear however she wished and even cover up any injuries. Mirage could only imagine how she really looked, she'd probably have to call in sick from work to recover. She'd be better in a day or two. "What have you been up to since we last spoke? Mirages image shimmered, her long slinky dress sliding up her long legs to become a short, sleeveless dress of a deep blue. Her thigh high boots thinned and stretched up her legs to become sheer tights and a pair of high heels. Her short jacket slipped off her shoulders to become a thin, silky wrap. She pulled out a compact to check her makeup, which was unnecessary since she knew how her illusion would make her appear. Mirage changed her earrings a few times, settling on a pair of drop down diamonds that matched the necklace that had settled around her neck. "There. Now how do I look? Dragon Fist arrived at the back alley, and retracted his armor. Sure that no one was watching, he used the backdoor access, and entered into the dojo. Sighing for a moment, he made his way to the back office, and went into a meditative stance, kneeling down and beginning to regulate his breathing. Other than the impromptu attack by Katy, the evening had went relatively well. But there was something he could not ignore. The presence of dark chi within his lover and colleague. Something must have happened to cause that amount of negative chi to inhabit Mirage. Whatever the deed was....Lucas could not say. But he wanted to help Mirage, because the woman had known so much pain in her life...even now. He took out the letter that Oni had left him...the one that challenged him to either fight the Dark Champion...or to become him. For Oni at one time had been the Champion of Light known as The Golden Dragon, but fell to darkness after a lot of misfortune occurred in his life. But Lucas vowed to fight the darkness inside of him...and knew of a possible way to perhaps cleanse his soul of negative chi if it ever were to come upon him. It would be a journey of sorts but well worth it in the long run. Inside, he hoped Mirage would be willing to make this journey. If not for Lucas, perhaps for Diantha. But most importantly...hopefully for herself. This message was last edited by the player at 21:31, Sun 12 June 2011.

Mirage had to wrok quickly. Luckily getting to and from a place was no problem. By the time that Lucas had returned to the dojo, Mirage had the spread set up. She had spread out a simple blanket like one would use on a picnic and their meal from Versuezzi's had been set out along with a few small candles. The dojo was dark enough that the candle light would show and Mirage had used her illusion powers to provide further decorations. The ceiling had been replaced with a setting sun and the walls of the dojo replaced by a long sandy beach with gentle waves lapping along the shore. Mirage had changed back into her blue dress and was scrutinizing a bottle of wine. "Welcome back, darling. I hope that you don't mind that I redecorated a little."

"Lucas." Mirage said softly. She could feel her heart beating faster, wondering if she were about to make a mistake. Lucas was like some shining knight, while Mirage was..,she felt like something much darker and less noble. Did she even deserve to do anything more than flirt with a man like Lucas? "I...I love you too." The words were hard to get out. Saying them made Mirage feel like she was setting herself upon a path that she had never thought to tread upon again.

Lucas smiled at Mirage's "revelation." Suddenly, this...affair..interaction...dating...whatever one wanted to call it...seemed so right. After all, they both, in their way, were broken by the world around them, and yet they had found each other. Two souls that had been wronged immensely by different forces and circumstances, now finding solace....with each other. Lucas softly stroked Mirage's face once again. Inside, he wondered if he could be the man that Helena needed him to be. Perhaps he could help her overcome a lot of the negative things that happened in her life. He sighed for a moment, then brought his lips to her and kissed her once again. "This is like a lovely dream....I don't want it to end, Helena. But...there is something that is troubling me. Something that...if not dealt with...could rip asunder all that we have. And I love you so much, Helena..that I would do anything to keep you safe.." He looked down for a moment, then back to her, his eyes full of sincerity and compassion. "You have an immense amount of negative chi growing inside of you. If it takes you over, you will become an Agent of Evil. But...I know of a place in my own travels that can help cleanse you of this expanse of negative chi. And after what happened with Flamethrower and I in the nursing home before we fought Brain the first time, I believe that I may need that same cleansing as well." Lucas gave a small smile. "Helena...please know that I would not do anything to hurt or harm you in the slightest. You know that you can also trust me. And I would like to take this journey with you also, seeing as I might need to be cleansed myself. It is something we can do...together..."

"Chi is the lifeforce of all things around..people..animals...things. Negative images weaken or even block the lifeforce. Negative acts can do the same thing, but only much worse. Negative chi corrupts the soul, and can corrupt the individual, so much so, that they will begin to rationalize acts of evil." He shook his head. "Forgive me...I saw what I saw....and I became concerned for you. I just...I don't want to lose you, Mir--Helena."

"You're right though, about the...." Mirages voice was soft, hesitant, not at all like her normal confident and flirtacious way of speaking. She didn't want to admit this, not to Lucas, not after finally admitting how she felt about him. Would he still love her if he knew the truth about her? It tore at her to think that she could be so close to being happy and then having that torn away, but she loved Lucas and he deserved to know what she was.

Mirage didn't notice the scenary changing. Her thoughts were entirely up on Lucas, the taste of him on her lips and his warm touch on her hand. Did she deserve a chance of happiness with him? She'd given up on the whole idea after her shooting, using her anger and frustration as fuel for her activities as Mirage. Lucas had seen the real her, although perhaps he hadn't known it, and he hadn't treated her any different.

The long association between Dragon Fist and Mirage was something both in and out of the spotlight. Mirage preferred the shadows and darkness, and Dragon Fist preferred being out in the open, though not so much in the beginning of his career. But they had been linked with stopping the man known as Brain...which had happened twice. Two seemingly different methods...but overall the same goal: to bring justice to the city of Weston, and to keep it safe from the criminals and supervillains who would seek its ruin. Now, more than ever, Lucas needed Helena in his life. While perhaps having the arrogant notion that he could do it all by himself, running a successful dojo, his activities as Dragon Fist, Lucas found out now more than ever that he, despite all of the fantastic power at his disposal, was all too human. Friday's apparent death was a stark reminder of that. And yet, in the presence of that death, something new transpired and was born. A seed, planted on their plane trip to Dallas, soon grew into something extraordinary: a love and understanding that would surely stand the test of time and everything else that would be arrayed against it. Lucas pulled away slowly from the kiss and looked Mirage in the eyes once more. Now, noticing the scene change, he briefly took a look around, amazed that this place full of magic, was right in front of him. He smiled at her. "Amazing...you've got this place down to every detail..incredible..." This message was last edited by the player at 05:18, Wed 29 June 2011.

"I guess you affect me more than I thought." she said softly. A part of her was screaming. The illusion around them had changed, something that she had not expected to happen, and this meant a loss of the control that she liked to keep. Was this Lucas wrecking her concentration? If his presence could cause her to do this, what could happen next? It was worth it for a chance at happiness and love, wasn't it? Even a fleeting one?

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Because it would seem that we have the same effect on each other. But..we're alone right now, and I'm happy to have you here with me. What do you say once we get this Builder business dealt with, then we both come to this place? It's a place of healing and I assure you, there's nothing like seeing it in person, though this is a very good representation. And..now that you know about me..you may as well know it all. I want you in my life, Helena..both as Lucas Martinez and as Dragon Fist..I know that it seems like it will be difficult but I'm willing to make the effort." Lucas smiled. "I don't know if you may ever understand how much you mean to me, but I want to be your Champion. And I want to help you. Because I don't see a broken soul in front of me, Helena. I see someone who has taken the worst that's been thrown at her, and has risen above it. And you can rise above the negative chi, Mirage. You have my strength to add to yours." Dragon Fist soon descended into the alleyway behind the Dragon And Tiger. He knew there was work to be done. But right now, he needed to focus. And also to be present for class at the dojo. Retracting his armor, he used the backdoor access to the dojo, then went inside and changed into his charcoal gray gi. He then stepped outside into the training area where Flip was taking the class through some preliminary workouts. He looked at the class, then bowed to them, as they prepared to practice the various forms of goju-ryu.

A light chuckle echoes all around the room, almost as if there were multiple beings laughing. "That's it, fight little dragon. Fight with your pretty little plaything. After all, Friday would love to know that she went for such a fickle man, wouldn't she?" The being, now obviously a girl, said in a frighteningly familiar voice. "Dragon Fist, have I ever told you how pathetic you are?" with that, the Psy-Witch lunged at Dragon Fist, putting her power into a punch. Katy, even before this evil corrupted her, was no expert at martial arts, and it would be easy to counterattack with a simple move. Strange. Someone as smart as Katy would know this, and still fall for one of the easiest take-down's in the book?

Lucas knew that he couldn't take the chance, as he counterattacked with a trip attack, which was intended to take the woman off of her feet, and then went into a pin. "OK Katy....look...I like you, but something is VERY wrong with you. What's happened to you?"

Before Lucas could have his question answered, Katy's head shot up. Forehead touched forehead, and Lucas' world went black. He was now engulfed in Katy's mind, and could see the representation of everything. He was in a Japanese cherry tree forest, where the pedals looked to be in full bloom. In the clearing he was in, if he looked beyond further, the outer ring of trees seemed to be the only 'live' trees. All the others looked as if they had rotted away. Katy stood at the edge of the clearing, staring at Dragon Fist. Her veins were still pulsing black, but her appearance was otherwise normal. "I'm sorry it had to come to this, Dragon Fist. But I only have so much control." She said, "I apologize for that Friday comment. I don't have much control over this demonic version of me." She looked around, noting the decay outside the small haven, "I'm sorry you have to see my mind in such a state. I only wish that Brain hadn't had so much control over me..." She paused. "That's who did this to me. Researched me well. Implanted another personality within my own mind to do his bidding. There're a lot of things that can fix it, like you, for example, but every time I gained some sort of control, that damn Witch got the hell out of there." She looked at Lucas, "I was hoping Mirage would be the one to do this, but I need you're help, Lucas. I don't want to die, but I can't get rid of this anti-me by myself."

She paused yet again. "I hate to say it, but without my sense of morals, or key elements of my core being, I would be this woman, I would've said what I have and meant it. Brain fed that part of my consciousness until it eclipsed my reason." By now Katy had removed her shoes and her attire now consisted of nothing more than a white tank-top and some slim pants. "I don't have much time, Lucas. But that new chi you wield....I feel like that's my ticket to regaining my power. Lucas, I want you to put all your power into one blow and attack me at the very center of my being. . . My heart" With that, Katy tapped her chest, right where he heart would be. "Don't waste time, Lucas. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep from trying to attack you."

A cultivated mind was an understatement. Her mind looked like a temple of heaven, beautiful and elegant. Lucas saw each member of the Legacy, together, a memory trapped in her mind that she seemed to find motivation within. Along with that, Lucas saw everyone as Lady Psyche saw them, vibrant and elegant, just and kind, a change to what the usually cynical Police Officer Katy was. There was Friday, Lucas, Helena, even Hotwire. For a moment, the mind-image of Friday stared at Dragon Fist, who still had his sword through her heart. At that moment, everything went black. And Katy's head came down, resting against the floor of the Dojo. Tired though she was, she was also relieved. She was still pinned down by Lucas, and he would notice the clothing she was wearing faded away, revealing nothing but the tank-top and pants she was wearing in her mind. Her black hair faded back to her original blonde, and her dual-color eyes returned to their original blue-green. The tattoo that had controlled her began to twist and move, travelling right atop her heart, hardening at that spot. For some reason, though, her veins stayed black. A side effect of the brainwashing, maybe? "Thank you, Lucas," Katy said, then gave in to her fatigue.

"All right guys...sorry about that. Everything's OK now. Just had one of those smoke detectors go haywire." He then whispered to Flip "I'll explain later.." The class soon filed back in, and then resumed, though the students still were somewhat tense. Lucas then went into the room where Katy was resting.

Katy's mind reached out for comfort, and brushed against Lucas' consciousness. It wasn't a romantic one, but her mind sought the comfort of a friend, of which she considered Lucas to be. Lucas? Katy asked, her mind-voice speaking. It was soft, gentle, resting. How am I going to go back to normal life? Mirage will probably hate me for using her techniques for the wrong things. I tried to hurt so many innocent people, and my job....My God, my job at the station's probably going to be in shambles. And I insulted Friday's. . .Memory Her mind voice became slightly shameful, and her arm twitched just the slightest, even though her body was resting. An indication she was "dreaming."

Mirage reappeared in a swirl of crimson smoke and dark skirts. Rather than taking up her customary seat on the desk, she was standing, the points of several crimson coloured knives poking through her fingers. She was smiling in a less than friendly way. Helena, listen to me. Brain had tricked me, drew out the worst parts of my subconscious and formed a complete personality that overpowered my own. If you don't believe me, look. With that, a small part of Katy's defenses lowered and recalled the memories of what had transpired. Though memories could easily have been conjured up, they couldn't have been faked with the quality that Katy displayed them. It was like she said, the personality Brain had created within her had taken control, and Katy's own mind took a back-seat to the happenings. Helena, I regret what I did and what I said immensely. I know it looks bad, but please, see reason. Why would I lie to you? Her tone was beseeching and earnest. The words, though mind-spoken, were from the heart.

She whirled on Katy with a snarl, pressing the point of one of her psionic daggers to the womans throat. "You don't get to call me that! Not after what you've done, Psy-Witch!" Hearing her real name spoken by the woman that had betrayed her trust was more than enough to make Mirage angry, or rather angrier. She had liked Katy, so much so that she had been a mentor to the young woman. For Mirage, Katy becoming Psy-Witch was like having a close friend betray her. The crimson of her knives grew darker, the blades edging towards a deep pure black. Don't listen to anything that she's saying. Put the knives through her. End her. Only there was something in Katy's tone, the way that she was pleading with Mirage. Was she really trying to apologize? Mirage hesitated. It had to be a trick. Or was it? Could Katy be sincere?

Was it the smart thing to do because Psy-Witch was evil or because Mirage was afraid of her? Psy-Witch was more powerful than Mirage and that had been more than a slap in the face on several occasions. Mirage had pretty much ducked out of the Legacy towards the end of their time together because there was nothing that she could do that Katy Hanson couldn't do better. The Legacy didn't need two of them, so Mirage had chosen to spend more of her time prowling about solo. That was what made it easy to hate Psy-Witch, not just for her cruelty, or for the fact that she had taken Mirages teachings and twisted them to her own purpose. It was that Katy Hanson seemed better than her. No, this had to be a trick of some sort. Mirage hated Psy-Witch because she was evil. Even if delving into Psy-Witchs mind was a trap, Mirage decided to take the chance, to prove that she was not afraid of her. "I'll find out the truth. You can't hide your thoughts from me. I know you too well." Mirage snarled as she reached out with her mind to touch Psy-Witchs.

But that all lasted for only moments. An instant later, a scene burst into view. A large fountain stood in front of them, and around them a temple with a glowing white hue could be seen. They were in the courtyard. Dragon Fist would notice it as the mind he'd recently freed, while on the few occasions that Mirage had entered Katy's mind, it looked similar, only more cultivated and brilliant than before. A mind-scape directly correlated to the state of the person's mind, provided there were no Gilding. That is, the person perceiving themselves as fine when the mind was truly ready to fall apart. A woman dressed in a long white priestess' robe sat at the edge of the fountain, dangling her fingers in the water. The colors of the water would change, always a bright color. Her body and hair distinguished her as Katy, only...something seemed better. Maybe it was her mind's self-image, but she looked absolutely breathtaking. She turned to face the other two, not moving from her position, and determined to stand her ground. "Could Psy-Witch do this, Mirage? She was a madwoman. Now what memories do I need to show you in order to convince you?" Her voice was powerful, authoritative. She was in her element. Though Mirage could strike her down in the physical realm, Katy had control of both her friend's minds as of this moment. She grasped at the water, throwing a sphere of pure water up. At the apex of it's ascent, it burst into thousands of tiny drops, each one enlarging and appearing as memories. Of her childhood, of her joining the Legacy, of every part of her life. Though they couldn't be twisted and manipulated right now, every dirty secret, every minute detail about Katy could be discerned. Hell, if Helena or Dragon Fist looked at the right memory, they would notice certain levels of admiration, even attraction, to several of the Legacy members, even people they hadn't met before. "Take your pick, Helena, Lucas. I won't stop you from perusing," she said.

Lucas looked around curiously, seeing all of these memories. There was the double date with him, Friday, Katy, and Aaron at Versuezzi's. The talks that they had, the occassional spat between the two of them in regards to differences that they may have had, and Katy's support for Lucas when Friday apparently died. Their views on the New Age Defenders, and the arguments those caused, and even when she joined the Legacy. So many memories... Lucas then looked to Mirage. "This is your arena, my dear. Not even a minute had passed when a knock at the door came. "Enter," Katy said, and Mirage and Dragon Fist could almost feel themselves speaking as it happened. An elegantly dressed man walked in, ran his finger along the desk, looked at Katy, and a rush of psychic force was pushed onto her, trying to force her to "Obey" as he spoke the word. Katy smiled and pulled out her gun, which the man casually batted away, demanding that he follow her or the entire Police Department was going up in flames. Reluctantly following him, of her own will, Katy entered into a limo at the end. As Katy sat down, she felt an overwhelmingly powerful presence attack her, and she blacked out. When her eyes opened, she consciously tried to move, but she couldn't. In front of her was a man who looked eerily familiar: Brain. He smiled and pointed to her, before disappearing in black smoke. All of a sudden, her body moved of it's own accord, looking at her arm first, and smiling. Numerous injection sites. Looking around, it looked like a Blood warehouse. Katy tried to grimace, but she couldn't. Casually looking around, Katy noticed two people walking towards her, pointing handguns at her. Her hands glowed purple, and she broke out of her restraints, jumping and propelling herself at the two people. Needless to say, their lives didn't last long after that. A girlish giggle emanated, before the bubble faded from view. "Do you see, now, Helena?" Mind-Katy asked, still sitting at the fountain, "I was brainwashed, drugged, and set on Weston by Brain."

Lucas knew that Brain was dead...at least apparently. He and Mirage saw to that when they helped liberate him out of StormWalker's mind, in which he was trying to use her as a new vessel. Mirage wanted to not believe what she was seeing. She was good at deceiving with her illusions and Katy knew most of her tricks. This could all be some trick of Katy's, trying to lure them into lowering their own guard. Mirage could feel Katy holding her and Lucas within her mind. But the emotions in that memory were real. Mirage could feel it and that was what made her doubt her own mistrust. And, perhaps she wanted to believe that her friend Katy was back to her normal self. "Maybe that's believable." Mirage conceded.

When their eyes opened, they would find themselves staring at Katy a few feet away, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, hands clasped together between her legs and leaning on her elbows, staring back at the other two. "Helena, you have every right to hate me right now. I would if I were in your position. But it gets us nowhere, and it's exactly what Brain wants. He underestimated my power. Pumping me full of drugs and rearranging my mind left an imprint of him on me. "You don't have to worry about that, Katy. We tangled with Brain not too long ago...he tried to inhabit the body of Nokomis Kellington, one of your colleagues in the police force. We were inside her mind, not very much unlike what we just experienced...and there we saw to Brain's end."

Aaron? She thought, and unintentionally bespoke him. She'd made up her mind not to read his mind. It was a sort of respect she gave people. But the sheer curiosity of her being able to home in on his consciousness specifically was. . .Unsettling, seeing as she hadn't saw him since. . .Since Friday died. Outwardly, Katy's eyes had widened to this discovery, and everybody in the room heard her mindspeak. Her powers had increased greatly ever since Brain had taken over, and her control was still a bit rusty. Psy-Witch never much cared for precision, only flashy, 'fun' moves.

"What is happening with Aaron, Katy?" she asked. Knowing that Katy would feel bad about what she did as Psy-Witch, she would feel even worse if something were to happen to Aaron Tanaka. Katy had seemed so happy with him. "Is he in danger?"

Then she suddenly remembered the mental shout. "He's fine, but it's like I have a connection with him, almost. It's like part of me keeps mental tabs on him." She paused, "And...I never really mentioned to him that I was psychic. It's not something you usually talk about on the first few dates." Deliberately, Katy heaved herself up to a standing position. "I've got to go see Aaron. I have to explain several things to him. Lucas, you wouldn't happen to have an extra shirt I could borrow, do you? I'd fake it, but an illusion doesn't really warm you that much." Katy took a step forward, just barely maintaining her balance. Her hand flew up to her forehead, "You wouldn't happen to have some aspirin, either, would you? I have a killer headache."

He left for a brief moment, then returned with a spare shirt and a couple of aspirin, and handed them both to her. "Here you are, Katy. When you see Aaron, tell him that there are some people, including myself, who are worried about him. I went by his dojo not too long ago, and the place was eerily quiet, as if no one had been there in months."

"There's no way you could've..." She started to say. Then a bright light engulfed him, and when it faded....he was gone. Katy's hand was already glowing with a bright blue force.....strange, given the fact that her normal psychic aura was purple, and under Brain's influence it had been black. But seeing that it was only her and Helena now, the glow faded. The power was not of evil origin, and Katy or Helena would've probably sensed if he were in danger. She waited for a moment or two, then said, "I didn't mean for any of this to happen, you know." Katy said, "The Psy-Witch thing, I mean." She waited for her former master to say something. When Katy was only beginning to figure out the limits of her power, Helena had stepped in and helped her hone it. Not only that, but Helena became like a second mother figure. A snarky, sarcastic, funny one at that, but still someone Katy could look up to. Someone who was trying to make the most of her abilities, to make a difference.

She was frowning at the spot where Lucas had been standing when Katy started to speak again. "We've all had our bad days, Katy darling." Mirage gave her protege a smile. It would have been pretty hypocritical of her to blame Katy for all that she'd done while under Brains influence. Mirage had her moments that she was not proud of. "I don't hold it against you. I know how powerful Brain was, and just how twisted he could be. It's just one more reason why I'm glad he won't be coming back." Anyone who would play with a womans mind like Brain had, twisting her into something evil and perverse, was someone that Mirage was more than happy to get rid of. She was only sorry that she couldn't kick his ass again for what he had done to Katy. She reached out her hands to take Katy's and gave them a fond squeeze. "I'm glad you're back. Psy-Witch had terrible taste in clothing."

Katy broke the embrace after Lucas walked in. "There's time for that later, if you want..." She quipped just as playfully as Mirage. And then the phone rang. Not long after, what looked to be a fairly old friend of Lucas' came in. Katy watched as they disappeared into the other room. Normally, Katy didn't mind giving people privacy, but it did seem serious...And she couldn't help herself. Her mind 'tuned' into the other room, listening in. Getting just the gist of the conversation, Katy cast a sidelong look at Mirage. She knew Helena was in a relationship with Lucas, or something like it. But even though Katy resented her for it, on account of Friday, she couldn't help but empathize towards her mentor. Katy would probably feel the same way if it were Aaron. It wasn't everyday an almost godlike being decided to destroy the world. Or was it? "Helena?" She asked. No other words were needed. As an afterthought, she put a hand on her mentor's shoulder.

Make a Will. Spend time with your loved ones. Likely to be casualties. End of life as it was known. Mirage glanced at Katy when her friend touched her shoulder. From the look in Katy's face, she had been listening in as well. "It seems like someone has been keeping some important secrets from us." she said softly. Turning back to wait for Lucas to walk back to the two of them, Mirage crossed her arms, ready to admonish Lucas for keeping all of this from them. Did he think that he was trying to protect them for whatever this Konnish thing was? Were they weak women who didn't have to know about some big fight for all of the marbles? Maybe this whole Champion of Light role had gone to Lucas' head. Mirage waited for Lucas with a hard look in her eyes, one normally reserved for villains.

We have only recently been made aware of this by a former protege of his, a Mr. Leo Black. Now Oswald is gathering a force together to oppose if and when he comes, because when he comes, that will be a terrible day indeed. And some, if not all of us, are expecting to stop him, but we are also prepared to count the cost in doing so.." Lucas sighed for a moment, and turned away from the two women. "You both know my story. I've been living on borrowed time ever since I became Dragon Fist. Look...I'm sorry for keeping this from you. And yes...I know that we've been through quite a bit, all of us. Something about this feels...different. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to go down fighting. And Friday, she thought. As much as she loved both Friday and Lucas, when the evil Lucas wanted to torment Lucas he brought up Friday. Why did it always come back to Friday? Mirage missed her of course and would have done anything to keep her alive but compared to Friday's memory, she felt like an inadequate stand-in. It was as if Friday was the perfect example of a woman, held up on a pedestal and sporting the pre-requisite halo. Mirage couldn't compete with a memory, especially not one that seemed to grow more saintly the more she was mentioned, so where did that leave her? Finding herself not measuring up to Fridays memory was only the start. "So you thought that you'd keep this end of the world scenario secret from us? Were you afraid that the womenfolk couldn't handle it?" Mirage said icily. "And you expect that you'll go off and die in some glorious battle to save the world?" The whole thing was so damned insulting that it was really starting to piss Mirage off. She stepped forward and forcibly turned Lucas around to face her. "To hell with this borrowed time nonsense. Do you think that you're the only one who's been through something terrible? Who've suffered? Some of us don't give up so easily, expecting to die and counting off our remaining days like some sort of macabre bank balance. You grow a pair and you fight through it and you make damed well sure that no one else has to go through what you did, or else those who's hurt you have won."

But the teachings of his mentor Flip, not to mention the dragon known as Kimeran, won out in his head. Instead, he looked at Mirage with an expression of determination in his face. It wasn't necessarily directed at the femme fatale, but it was directed at the battle he was going to face. A battle that, quite possibly, he may not walk away from. "On the contrary, Mirage. I do intend to fight with every fiber of my soul. I intend to win. There is a future beyond this for all of us. As to what that future holds, that is up to us to seize it." He soon looked up for a moment, as if he had a heard a call directed at him. In a fraction of a second, his armor was summoned in a bright azure light "Konnish comes....our Forces are being gathered. I want you....both of you...by my side when the battle begins."

Without any cause at all, the circular tribal mark over her heart began to pulsate slightly, the markings spreading ever slightly. The effort to defeat Konnish had been thoroughly exhausting. Lucas had never used that technique before. He was always told that it was a failsafe...a last resort....to call upon it only when needed, but that it would also be potentially detrimental to him. He had recovered in the dojo, which took him a week (with a little help from Lin, Kimeran, and Meg). In that time, Flip had told Lucas that he was going to have to go away on some personal business, and didn't know when he would be back. So he sold his half of the dojo to one Grace Wei, who was a renowned sifu who had just moved to Weston. Grace was a middle-aged woman but being Asian, she looked much younger than her years, and possessing the wisdom of one who had learned a lot. So Lucas came to a decision: he would still teach the Goju-Ryu portion of his classes and Grace would sit in on those classes, and he would then take part in her Tai Chi classes as well as the Northern Shaolin Kung Fu classes. He had always been told to never limit himself to one style, and to always keep an open mind. Mirage, during this time, was at times happy and jovial with Lucas. Others, she seemed to distance herself, being somewhat melancholy and solitary. Lucas knew that he would continue to work on their relationship, but the ordeal with Konnish drove a small rift between them, one that he hoped didn't grow any more. After all, with Friday being dead, Mirage was the next most likely to understand Lucas for who he was, not what he could do or how much power he had. After getting the school started on its new curriculum, Lucas had renewed his friendship/rivalry with Aaron Tanaka. But Aaron seemed overly intense at different moments, as if occupied by other things. It was understandable as Lucas was also preoccupied with different things himself.

In this, he was just as focused as he was when he was doing the training for the mastery of the Elements. For those same elements seemed to flow with every subtle movement, every vital motion that embodied both the grace of Tai Chi and the truly cerebral knowledge of the Northern Shaolin style. After the workout, he conversed with Grace for a short while, then set out on to the streets of Weston. >>>>>>>>>>>>To The Streets of Weston>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The pupil, a young man in his early 20's, short blond hair and clean-shaven, promptly came after Lucas with an aggressive pump kick. Lucas calmly stepped to the side, parrying the kick and simulated a reverse punch which would have cleanly hit the student in his abdomen. The student, acknowledging that he could have been felled by the punch, nodded at Lucas and gave him a short bow before returning to where the class sat. Lucas returned the bow and then began to address the class. "The name of the art is....Goju-Ryu. The words mean both 'hard' and soft. It has all the subtleties of Aikido, in where you can use the strength of your attacker against them....and at the same time, it can employ more aggressive manuevers. Remember one thing...Anger is your worst enemy, especially when you are in a fight. Anger will cause you to make misakes. Never lose your temper....it will make you vulnerable....and off-balance." Letting the lesson sink in, he then announced "Class is dismissed for today." The class soon began to file out, and Grace had been sitting in the back observing. A smile came to her lips as she told him "Believe it or not...even though we practice different arts, we both ultimately want the same thing. I've seen you observing and even embracing some of the Shaolin principles." Lucas nodded at that. "A wise man told me to never limit myself to one style. The Northern Shaolin style does have a lot to offer. And I'm grateful that you've decided to come to Weston, Ms. Wei. Out of all the areas that you could have picked to come to, you chose Weston City." The middle-aged Asian woman chuckled for a moment. "Weston offers unique challenges not found anywhere else. But...being a long time citizen of this city, I'm sure you already knew that. Good day Lucas..." She then left the dojo, leaving Lucas alone as he finished picking up several things in the dojo. He always took great care not to remove the upper portion of his gi in the presence of the students or even Grace, because of the scar he still wore (and because Kimeran would no doubt tell him that he was feeling a draft).

Mirage frowned at her own beeper. It felt absurd to carry one, like she was at someone else beck and call. There was some logic in having it, and that was partly why she had agreed to carry it. The other part was the thought that every time it went off, Mirage would have the opportunity to beat someone up. She slipped the pager back into her purse and gave Lucas a seductive little grin. The business with The Builder seemed to be resolved. But Lucas couldn't help but wonder if there were still some ramifications that arose from it. One, being the mysterious gunman who took The Builder's life, and the fact that he was still out there. But that would have to wait, at least for the moment. The last 24-hour period had been a nice and refreshing time for Lucas. Besides spending time with the New Age Defenders and the rest of his friends (including some odd new ones), it was a time for him to reflect and enjoy a brief moment of respite. He had also talked to Ozzy briefly (whenever he could get away from Clarissa), and had directly or indirectly heard about Ozzy's father was being less than favorable with Ozzy's choices in life. It reminded him a lot of when Lucas' own father had thrown him out due to the "incident with the football player in high school." He let Ozzy know that he understood because he had been through the same things, and hoped that the two Gysbournes would be able to eventually mend their relationship. Weston, thankfully, had been quiet so the Champion of Light was able to enjoy nearly a full night's sleep before opening the dojo in the morning and going through the daily routine of teaching the various young people who found his way through the doors of the Dragon And The Tiger. At 7, Lucas had just closed down the dojo, making sure Grace got out to her car okay, before heading back into the training area to center himself and meditate. The recent events were disturbing, and were pointing to open warfare between humanity and Paras. And Lucas at this moment wasn't sure what, if any, sides would be the right sides.

Dragon Fist moderator, 1989 posts Mystic Martial Artist Thu 14 Jun 2012 at 11:46 |
Where it all began kept playing through his head over and over again. He looked at the letter, which had a capitol L. Could this letter have meant....where the LEGACY began? He then went back through his memories, remembering their first meeting, and their first take down, which was the villainous Flamethrower. Which was outside of the Above And Beyond Agency. WHERE IT ALL BEGAN. The Legacy forming, Brain's plan to take over the world. Everything. Lucas frowned. He thought he had made his peace and saw the last of that structure when he had his vigil for Friday. Whoever this was...if they had defiled the building in some way, they were going to pay a heavy price. Keeping a wary eye, he once again summoned his armor, and took to the air, sending another message to the Legacy, and going to a place that he never thought he'd see again. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>To Above And Beyond Investigations>>>>>>>>>>>

Dragon Fist descended and retracted his armor once safely out of sight. Entering into the dojo, the tears streamed freely from his face. He had lost not one but TWO women he loved. Perhaps being the Champion Of Light was both a blessing and a curse. Perhaps he was cursed even before he became the Champion Of Light. None of that mattered. Lucas was confused. Confused about his role in Weston, or in the universe. If he was doing so much good, why did those closest to him have to suffer and die? He went and packed several changes of clothes into a large backpack, and zipped it up. He left a moderate amount of cash in the office with a note for Grace. He then looked back at the dojo which had been such a large part of his life, and smiled briefly. He shook his head and then turned out the lights. None of the others would understand. They didn't experience the amount of loss that he did. Maybe Don, but who knew if the others did understand. Hoisting the backpack over his shoulder, he then walked out of the dojo, and into the city streets, not knowing where he was going. >>>>>>>>>>>>>??????????????????>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Lucas soon appeared back at the dojo, running his fingers through his hair, the loss of his friend, teammate, and lover so close to him and his heart. A loss that although he was starting to cope with, still left a large void within him. And what was to come? The funeral was going to be tomorrow, and he had to write something. The dojo was empty, especially with so little time passing in the "real" world and the other place he was in. He then sat down at his desk in the back office and began to write on a piece of paper.

Dragon Fist took his usual way into the dojo. Retracting his armor, he then sat down Indian-style in the training room and attempted to focus himself. Today was difficult though, and Lucas couldn't seem to narrow down that focus. He opened his eyes, and buried his face in his hand, the grief too strong for him to hold back anymore.

She took a deep breath at the door of Dragon and Tiger. From what her mother had said, Lucas knew she was in this timeline, and her name, but didn't know what she looked like. Well, point in her favor, and she could work with it. Mina Yang did sound like an appealing name, too. Vaan knocked on the door several times, waiting for an answer.

The girl did appear to need help, at least with some of the self-defense aspects. And she seemed to be fighting for a cause other than herself. "All right..." he said nodding at the young lady. "I'm going to show you some basic techniques that can be used in both an offensive and a defensive matter. The name of the art I practice is Goju-Ryu....the discipline has both hard and strong aspects." Lucas then began to show "Mina" some of those techniques, including ones that allowed for a block/counterstrike as well as a two-pronged attack.

The restraint did help, though. She didn't want to kill some degenerate who tried to mug her simply by muscle-memory. Hunter trained her well when it came to war, but in a time of peace, killing was looked down upon, not a necessary precaution.

Weaving the mysterious energy known as the Flow around her and effectively obscuring her from view, Vaan phased through a section of wall on the side of the building. She would appear as a slight shimmer, or a bright figure of Chi depending on how you looked. Mom wanted to keep an eye on Lucas, huh? While Lucas let it out, Vaan took the time to put on her gear.....slowly. Carefully. Soundlessly. Black fore-arm and shin-guards, loose pants tucked into tabi-boots, A half-face wrap to conceal who she truly was. All was done with little to no effort, and almost completely soundless. If she were discovered, Lucas certainly wouldn't suspect innocent little Mina had snuck back in to spy on him, nor would he suspect that she was there only to keep an eye on him.

And then a demon appeared out of nowhere, swooped Lucas up, and disappeared, startling Vaan, who countered with a second too late slash with a tanto blade stowed away. Lucas was gone, and dead for all she knew. The demon had gotten away, but not without leaving a trail within the Flow. A trail Vaan could follow. Wasting no time in readying herself for what could be a straining sprint, Vaan disappeared in a blur, following the trail that was left behind. --->Too: Sutra's Apartment This message was last edited by the player at 00:51, Wed 15 Aug 2012.

Vaan faded into view in front of the dojo, calmly opening the door and walking in. A quick sweep confirmed that she was the only one inside as she unclasped her bracelet and watched as it reconfigured into it's standard form: A futuristic helm that acted as a heads-up-display. Putting it on and watching as the piece of tech booted up and oriented itself, Vaan moved to stand in the middle of the training room. "Link up with nearest connection and bring up a map of Weston, including notable Yakuza locations from the organized crime unit in the city." she said, the training room lighting up with an extremely simulated map of Weston. Then she started planning. If she was to act in Dragon Fist's stead for now., she would need to know more about his projects.

And Chinatown. A place to easily blend in, collect dues, revel, and other things the big players in the Yakuza would want to partake in. Not an easy mark, but it would be simpler and easier to blend in than if she were in the other two areas. That, and she missed the buzz of Chinatown. Even in the dystopic future, Chinatown had always been left fairly untouched, save maybe the absence of gangs. Smiling and reconfiguring her helm to switch to a sunglasses setting, Vaan took the time she had to gear up. Unshouldering the bag that Meg had given her, she clasped her knife belt around her waist, as well as stowed a plethora of other violent and deadly arms, before finishing with her now-washed and good as new trench-coat, which hid all but the knives wonderfully. If she were to go around Chinatown looking for the Yakuza, she needed to look the part of the Dragon Lady...especially if she was going to be one of their...benefactors. -->Weston city's Chinatown

Dragon Fist had been working pretty hard, considering that it seemed that emergencies would just "crop out" seemingly out of nowhere. Such was the life of a citizen of Weston City. Now it seemed that there were those who were interested in rebuilding the Legacy....or starting anew with it. Knight Errant seemed to be one of those. He had an admirable demeanor, even if it had gotten him in trouble at times. After messaging Hotwire (who seemed grouchier than normal), he made his way over to the building the Legacy were using for their HQ. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>To Legacy HQ>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Dragon Fist soon arrived back at the dojo. Going in through the rear entrance, he retracted his armor, and made his way to the office in the back of the structure. It felt good to be a part of a team. It had been a long time since the Legacy disbanded in where he had worked with a person or persons. A long time since....Friday....Mirage....their deaths still haunted him. One of them happened away from him, the other right in front of him. Both immensely painful. He looked at the calling card that was provided by one of the young heroes at the museum. Perhaps he would call on the services of this...Mittens...seemed like a nice enough person. But that would be for another time. For now, he would need to do what he always did. And that was to center himself....to calm the raging spirit that dwell inside of him. He then sat down, closing his eyes, and began to meditate.

Don looked his friend in the eyes, concerned written on his face. "More than that I've seen the reports from your exploits. You're a martial artist Lucas, probably the best in the world, you know how to disable a target with minimal force, to incapacitate a foe without leaving a mark on him. But now.... All of this time, I thought I could fight for a better way. The right way." He turned to face Don again. "And what happened? Two people I cared about...two people that I loved...are dead. Dead because of me. Dead...because I played by one set of rules while our enemies played a totally different game." He paused for a moment. "I am cursed, Don. Two of our teammates are dead because they loved me. And as for brutality...well, I'm giving the criminals of Weston a lesson in a language that they CAN understand."

Don sat back down running a hand through his hair. "I know how you feel, I've been there. I was broken, angry, looking to take out my frustrations on whomever I could rather than heal. And you know what's the worst part? I have a son that idolizes it, who wants to be a 'hero just like Daddy'. And that's the last thing I want, for him to be like me. I want him to be better. And I did get better, you know why? Because of you, and Friday and Helena, that's what inspired me to better, that's what made me a hero. The voice crackles through, something. If we're lucky it's actually something that it makes sense a voice would be coming out of. If not, he'll make do. The lights in the dojo dim just slightly as Zeke forms out from the wiring, giving a grin to the kids before looking up to his friend. "but I blame you for the situation I find myself in." It really wasn't like Zeke to get all dressed up like this, he was actually in a suit. With. A. Tie. That he quickly starts to fumble with a bit to loosen. There was an attempt at a stern annoyed face but it had just been too damn long since he talked with Lucas, and he didn't want to upset the kids. The usually unkempt hair is tied back and worn in a cared for ponytail. With the tie loosened he adjusts the cufflinks a bit before slowly shrugging off the jacket with a slight wince. "Ugh, been too long since I went through wiring. But, heard about a parahuman attacking a building, figured I'd swing by and see if my help was needed, it wasn't. New blood has it handled quite well." He smiles a little and offers a hand that oddly looks like it recently had a pedicure. Though if/when Lucas takes the offered hand, he'll move in for a hug himself. "It's been too long, man." Giving a nod over to Senator Hunter. Donny runs up to Zeke, hugging him solidly around the legs, then he pulled upward lifting Zeke by his legs. "See!? See how strong I am now?!" "Donny! Put your uncle down!" "You have gotten stronger since I saw you last!" He seemed a bit more mature than Lucas would remember him, still Zeke but a little of that edged had been sanded off. Once he's set down he kneels to give a hug to both of the children, one arm around each of them before standing back up. "Fighting, definitely not. But talking someone down, reasoning with them. Well I like to think my people skills have improved. Marginally." Looking to Lucas, his face gets a little more serious, he knew the guy was still hurting. They all were. Zeke had his moments with Friday, and he missed her quite a bit. But those were connections outside of anything romantic, unlike Lucas and the two women he and the team had lost. At least Zeke's own fling had simply walked out the door. "Business look for business situation. I was at a dinner with a few representatives for other countries. Some of it to talk about the aliens that just popped up but mostly just to get an idea how well our government's attempt at counseling and training parahumans are going. No one wants this to develop into some new Cold War arms race, at least not publicly. I'm sure there are some that have alterior motives, but keep your friends close and your enemies closer. So just heading home from that." Zeke bristles just a little about the place being a School. But it was the easiest way to describe it. "The 'Quadruple P' is going very well. Exuasting and I had to politely decline having my head shaved and riding around in a wheel chair for Halloween once again, but otherwise it's moving along nicely."

"Thanks. Really I had no clue my speech about the Para Parties was going to get me to this position. I figured I'd put my two cents in, make the proposal for a facility like what we have and people would realize how horrible of an idea it would be to have me be anywhere close to it." There was a mix of exasperation and satisfaction to his voice though, despite his view on it, he really wouldn't have it any other way. "I can certainly hope we can work things through though. As for the new heroes... I haven't had any experience with them. But the one guy, Daystar. I don't trust him. There's just something about the guy that rubs me the wrong way. He didn't have his suit at the museum but he identified himself as Daystar, same guy that was wearing a very high tech suit at the scene with the aliens. Up until a few days ago there was nothing and now. Boom. He's at the scene of an alien invasion and where a bunch of mummies come back to life." Zeke fidgets a little. "There. Were. Aliens. I got distracted though when I was going to the scene. Again. Ail. Lee. Ens. Of course I was trying to get there, but then I felt something else that didn't belong here. The tech he has, the vehicle he has. I wasn't able to get close to it, it probably would have been the Satellite all over again if I had. Still, the material its made with. The sense it gave off to me. It was even more foreign than those aliens are. I don't trust him." Of course, Zeke has never been known for being overly quick to trust anyone.

"I think if theres anything we've learned from our dealings with the New Age Defenders is we can't stop young people from going out there and trying to do what we did. Best to make sure they're equipped with the tools and experience they need to do it properly" He added to Zeke. Don pondered Zeke's assessment of this 'Daystar Character'. "Government prototypes maybe? Something stolen from the Brain Bank? Or he could be another para-inventor, like Malcolm?" While the grownups talked the children took advantage of being in a dojo. They both stood on the mat in fighting stances. Lucas could tell from experience these were proper stances, not children's playacting. Clearly their father had taught them a few things. They stood facing each other then Donnie charged forward sending a kick towards his sister's midsection. With inhuman grace Diantha slid under her brother's kick and jumped up behind him. She sent an open palm strike towards Donnie's midsection but the boy reached up and grabbed his sister's wrist pulling forward and sending her forward. "You're probably right, at least about him. I may be just a little personally irked that I missed the fight with the aliens because of his tech just sitting there like a little pandora's rubix cube." He was about to make a comment but figured he shouldn't due to the kids being so close. "The others, I just have what I've seen on the news and hearing about from the kids. Miss Adventure and her friend, it's good to see them both back, I haven't seen or heard much about them over the past few years. Disappeared about the same time I guess. Wraith, if I knew who was behind that mask I might have some words for them. Maybe they're just short but really it seems like they should be having juice boxes before nap time with those two, not risking their life out on the streets. The War Angel? She's awesome. And also someone I do not want to speak poorly about in case she's in the smiting business of anyone and everyone and is also omnipresent somehow. Speaking of smiting, I'm not sure if I should run up to Tech Knight screaming Lok'tar Ogar or making sure there isn't some heavy duty Heresy around him but, glad he's on our side. Then there's Lifelight. I'm glad she's shown up when she has. I have a feeling if she would have been around during our adventures we may have corrupted her. That or caused her to give up all hope on humanity. And we can't forget about the guy that decided he needed to one up Sabin's suplexing a train." The more he speaks of the other heroes, the more he calms down. Scratching a few fingers against the back of his neck. "Daystar though. He came out of no where and.. the tech. It's not so much that he has that tech, more that it exists. Or shouldn't. Grant it, living on this little blue rock my experience with tech is extremely limited. Imagine though, that the universal constant of everything matter wise is 1's and 0's. No matter what, 1 and 0 just being the basic and only building blocks of everything. The equipment he has is made up of S's and T's. It just, doesn't belong here. Maybe he also just seems to be breaking the first rule I try to instill in the people I try to help. This isn't a comic book. That suit, the design. The flying craft with a cloaking device. Feels like the guy is trying to act out a movie and I'm not sure if it's a Snyder or Whedon production."

Don turned to Zeke nodded about the guy who 'one upped suplexing a train'. "Sergeant Sinclair, I presented him with his medal of honor." Don thinks for a minute as the topic returns to Daystar. "Shouldn't exist why? Because it's too advanced? Technology has advanced a LOT since paras first started showing up, especially millitary tech. The brain bank has already been working on some cloaking tech, though mostly suits, and I'm pretty sure Malcolm made a cloaking ship in the fifties. As for the look, might just be a result of us being around so long, most of our suits were mainly functional, like regular clothes or combat gear with a twist, except for Enigma but you kinda expect a wizard to wear robes. But paras have been around over ten years now, kinda makes sense people would start going more for style, and Excelsior's costume is pretty comic-booky."
