Re: The streets

Ozzy nodded, "You got wheels, or do I need to try and conjure up some? I got a pretty good feel for Hunter's bike when I helped it back to base after a crash, I could probably make something like that, even add a sidecar."

Leo leaned in and whispered softly under his breath. "I dont know what I am...I keep having black outs in which I am not certain how long I am out.....I woke up a few days ago laying on a table in the morgue...."

"I got a can parked in that alley over there we'll follow him in that. C'mon before he gets done" And with that he headed downstairs towards his van

Re: The streets

Ozzy nodded, "Right, right, the van. Arright, let's roll."

With that, he headed downstairs, following Mr. Witness. While they were inside, he wrapped paint around him to make it look like, rather than a suit, he was wearing a pair of workman's coveralls. Once he spotted the van, the coveralls would sprout a company logo that matched whatever was on the van, if there was one.

Leo nodded and slowly sat up staring around the building at the other parahumans. He stared at each individual and pondered how this was real. All these people hiding because of their appearance...that was not right.

Their quarry was just coming out of the building, and headed to a nice looking Lexus that was parked a couple spots away, in a shadowy corner.  The plates were covered with something.

Ozzy pointed at their quarry from within the van, "There he is. Looks like we got down here right on time! Shall we follow him, make sure he gets 'home' all right?"

As he spoke, he buckled himself in. Safety was important, after all.

As Leo was thinking, he heard cries of alarm from elsewhere in the building, and the sound of running.  Another person burst in, their skin a frightened chartreuse, and the scales on their face apparent as they yelled "They are arresting us and putting us in 'protective custody'!"

He nodded, and said "Absolutely we should.  You all ready to do it?"  As he asked, he started the van and watched as the fellow got into his Lexus and backed out of his parking space.

Ozzy nodded and said, "Let's roll, man."

As they got ready to tail the car, Ozzy kept an eye out just in case they got tailed themselves. After all, they could've been noticed, and this could be a trap. Anything was possible.

He pulled out, seeming to head in a different direction, but parking them in McDonald's as he let it idle.  He asked Ozzy "Can you drive?  I prefer not to watch and drive at the same time, but clairvoyance helps a lot with tailing people."

Ozzy nodded, "Sure, man. I can drive. I just didn't want to presume, with it being your van and all."

Once they'd switched seats, he'd follow Mr. Witness's directions, figuring that the clairvoyant man had a plan.

Re: The streets

Their quarry went down the street, and then headed into the suburbs, to a seemingly nondescript house.  It was about three houses down from the Clemmons home.  And then pulled in and shut the attached garage.  He described all this to Ozzy as he concentrated, even as the quarry entered the home.

Re: The streets

Ozzy chuckled, "Wow, talk about coincidence. This is literally three houses away from my girlfriend's parents' house."

As Witness watched their quarry, Ozzy continued to watch their backs, making sure that nobody was trying to sneak up on them or something, in case their prey had been warned that Witness was coming. He just hoped he could spot anyone unusual in the sleepy suburb streets. After all, it would be easy enough to disguise oneself as a late-night jogger or somesuch.

Re: The streets

The night was quiet, and Ozzy could see Clarissa's parents, sitting in their living room, through the big bay window, watching television.  Her mother didn't look totally happy, but her father looked content.  He had a big, frosted beer bottle in one hand, and a piece of pizza in the other.

Re: The streets

Ozzy couldn't decide whether he wanted to punch her father, or thank him. After all, it was because of her father's dislike of him that he and Clarissa were currently living, and sleeping, together. Then again, he wasn't exactly the man's biggest fan either. For all he knew, his daughter was out on the streets, and he was kicking back and having a beer like nothing was wrong.

But he didn't let himself be distracted for too long. He had a job to do, after all.

Re: The streets

The house where their quarry had gone to ground looked normal, ut soon enough, two rowdy looking teenaged toughs showed up with Duffel bags and Ozzy caught a glimpse of a pistol in the waistband of one's pants at the back.  Something serious was up.

Ozzy frowned, and started to draw the runes to forcefield the cabin of the van, just in case. He had to wonder what the boys were gonna do, but he wanted to be ready for any eventuality.

Mr. Witness said softly "Oh my god.  Whatever this new drug is, that man has a duffel bag full of syringes of it.  And those boys are buying a syringe each.  It looks like he just charged them around a thousand dollars each.  One of them is rolling his sleeve up . . . and injecting the stuff.  It looks like a pinkish fluid of some sort . . . Ozzy shuddered, "Oi, vey. Let's hope this doesn't end badly. You want this stopped, say the word. I can be in full riot gear and breaking down that door before you can spell supercalafragalisticexpyaladocious."

While he hated to be an ass, Ozzy really, really hoped that the syringe was full of Pepto or drain cleaner or something, and not 'get powers and go crazy serum'. He'd prefer a dead idiot to an idiot with new powers and an itch to use them.

Mr. Witness' expression was getting very grave.  "We NEED to find the source of this crap.  We may HAVE to stop a problem.  Because the fellow who just injected it is writhing on the floor, and his skin just turned  very bright shade of neon purple.  Oh dear.  That looks horrible."

Re: The streets

The tough who had injected the stuff writhed as he felt the drug take hold, his body morphing to a neon purple shade, and four more appendages unfolded from his spine, their composition something like bone tentacles, whipping around and dripping something pinkish.  His friend grinned, and took his own injection then.  HE screamed, and hit the floor, his body morphing and twisting to become something vaguely werewolf like, if werewolves were ten feet tall and built like linebackers with severe steroid habits.  And then they both came out THROUGH the big picture window in the house, into Ozzy's line of sight.

Ozzy groaned, "GOD DAMMIT, it had to be the super-serum. It's never Drano with food coloring or something. Well, time to do what you're paying me for."

Given their size and probable strength, Ozzy shifted into the Mark 1 armor as he got out of the van, leaving Crystal inside to channel mana into the runes to protect Mr. Witness... hopefully. Once he was away from the van, Painter shouted, "Hey! Numbskulls! Over here! You jerks looking for a fight?"

Re: The streets

The werewolfy one snarled, and took off running down the street on all fours, howling and shattering every window on the street.

The other one, with his gruesome bone-tentacles and neon purple skin, snarled at Ozzy as it came at him like a freight train.
