Re: The rooftops
Katy cast a sideways glance at Dragon Fist, rolling her eyes.
"Lucas? A family's always gonna seem like a far-off, happy dream you get occasionally when things are doing okay. It's normal. Happens to everyone. You realize my parents were going through a financial crisis when I was born? Hospital bills heaping up, mom couldn't work, dad taking extra jobs to cover it and still coming up short." She told him.
"But you work through it. You find a way to make ends meet. Only problem with us is we're Paras. Our ends are larger than the average schmuck you meet on the street. We have to worry about other people, the fate of the galaxy, or world, or that girl who could blow up half the city with her mind. Hell, if I ever decide to have a kid, I guaran-damn-tee you I'd have to keep on my toes for any prevalence of psychic powers."
She chuckled slightly, "Those people down on the street? The biggest hindrance their family is to their lives is climbing up the social ladder." She pointed down, "That guy's wondering if his new promotion will put a dent in his marriage," She pointed to another, "She's pregnant, but her husband swore she didn't want kids."
"My point is, Lucas, a family is never convenient. It's always gonna seem like it'll never happen, or it's a long shot. But if I've learned anything from Don and his little Diantha, it's really is worth the extra effort."
